@Ruralfarmboy I do not doubt that, and I bare the young uns no ill will in their love for Star Wars, old and new.

 

To be honest I have barely any memories of seeing Star Wars in the cinema, although I was there. The queue however I can't forget, and was like no queue I had ever seen before. But I think my memory of that experience became clouded by the rest of the phenomenon after that. For me, the story lived on in the story book I got bought, through the toys and, of course, the repeated viewings on video (recorded off the first TV broadcast).

I wonder if that's why so many people have a problem with the new sequels. They're not sequels to those three films from the 70s and 80s. They're sequels to a cultural phenomenon. There's no way they could live up to that.

 

Hello, fellow Star Wars fans. I'm pretty new around the neighbourhood.
I was born in '81, so I grew up with the OT.

Every morning, from when I was around four, I dragged a chair up to the TV and watched a copy of A New Hope, I put the chair on a cushion and: voilá I was shooting tie fighers in the falcon along to the movie.

Anyway, I'm a lifelong fan and love the movies. Yes, even the prequels! Still trying to wrap my head and heart around TLJ. I hope it's gonna grow with me. Maybe it will even be elevated after EPIX.

Introductions... Hmm. Well, as with most of you, lifelong Star Wars fan. Grew up with the original trilogy, saw the Prequels in Theatre, and have yet to be disappointed with any of it. Well, except Attack of the Clones.... That was a disappointment, but still good! Just, you know, not great!

I'm still on the fence, after all these years, so I'm not actually sure if I'm Imperial, Rebel, Separatist, or First Order. I didn't even know about most of the EU until I read the Thrawn Trilogy in the late '00s. It'll probably take me a while, but I'll catch up, I'm sure. I've been |----| this close to starting on a Cosplay for a couple years now. One day. I love Phasma's armour, and love the story behind it even more!

I'm Thomas from Munich and I discovered the Star Wars Movies when I was in hospital. Back then I binge watched all the movies and I'm looking forward to the conversations here.

Hi folks,

Noob here, thought I'd just say hello. Like the rest of you I'm a massive Star Wars fan and old enough to remember the originals being released!

A quick bit of info:

1) The Original Trilogy is my favourite.
2) Love the Sequel Trilogy (I'm probably one of few that preferred TLJ to TFA)!
3) Thoroughly enjoyed R1 and Solo.
4) Still trying to like the Prequel Trilogy.

My EU knowledge is very limited however as I'm not much of a reader, so I thought I'd give the cartoons a go. In all honesty can't get too excited about cartoons either but I'm told the Clone Wars gets very good from about series 3 onwards! Any advice around this would be appreciated.

Actually one question around this... Do I need to watch The Clone Wars movie first?

Anyhow really looking forward to hitting the discussion boards for some lively chit chat and debate and don't forget to 'like' everything I say

Hey there Mr. Gonk!

In my opinion, you don’t have to watch the clone war movie if you won’t like. The only thing that I can remember and that has some influence on the future stories, is that Anakin gets a young Togruta Padawan assigned to him, her name is Ashoka.

Actually, my initial thoughts on an animated SW series was kind off “meh”, which grown SW fan from the seventies will watch a Cartoon about his favorite franchise?!? I’m so glad I gave it a try years after it aired on TV, because after watching some episodes, it grew on me and meanwhile I really love it, including some of new Characters like Rex and Snips. I can’t think of the SW universe without them anymore.

Be aware, that the episode numbers does not always match the order storywise/timewise. Season & Episode Numbers are sometimes out of chronological order.
For example Season03Episode01 “Clone Cadets” should be watched as the 4th item, not the 45th one as it was released back then.

Really appreciate the links and the fact there are many TLJ lovers out there to. Don't get me wrong still loved TFA, but if pushed to choose TLJ just edges it. I simply loved the battle on Crait, the action and colour was awesome and Chewie bossing the Falcon was a great moment. I know there are many that hated what RJ did to Luke and whilst it was a shame to see him go for me this was superb jaw dropping moment, almost an "I am your father" moment if you like. Star Wars simply cannot be about Luke Skywalker and I'm happy for the ST to move on without him!

Thanks for the info, I've heard lots about Ashoka and that's she's a fan favourite so perhaps I'd better watch the movie.

It's a bit weird that the episodes are out of chronological order, looks like I'd better download the lot of them then work through in the correct order.

Incidentally what about Rebels? Is that as good, I believe it's aimed at a younger audience, is that correct?

Personally, I like Rebels a lot. You can meet one or two old acquaintances from the Clone Wars series too. It has a different scope in story and target audience, but its’ Dave Filloni again. So from my point of view, excellent stuff of high quality and some nostalgia for OT and CW fans (they borrowed a lot from the original Ralph McQuarrie designs).

If you like Mandalorians, you will like both shows.

Recently, I've written 2 tv pilots--- a half-hour workplace comedy and an hour long superhero comedy.

I am currently 50 pages into writing a Star Wars movie for ME.

To me... Star Wars is fundamentally:


It's different. I think in a good way...

I will be looking for a high quality artist to design 10-20 concept scenes... maybe more depending on the costs.
