I have an idea for Ep IX that involves modifying one of the most iconic SW spacecraft.

How about Poe leads a squadron of radically upgraded X-Wings for the final battle scene? Maybe the plot line could be the Resistance forces get caught off-guard when they run into new TIEs, that the First Order upgraded into a more formidable dogfighter, even better than the T-70.

Let's call it the T-95.....I am thinking about a three-wing design, maybe a homage to the ARC-170. The center or horizontal wing has an engine that sits on the centerline of the wing (looking to the rear), split in half. Horizontal wing does not move and is fixed. Upper and Lower wings can split , I.E. "Lock S Foils" (of course!) like current X-wing. Laser cannon attach points would have to be modified to allow a six-gun design, and engine placement as well. Basically you end up with a six-engine, six-gunned X-wing design. I am working with some photo editors and graphic programs to design what I am talking about.

The unveil scene would be the Republic fleet getting battered, with a couple of squadrons of T-70s losing badly to the new TIEs. Republic Fleet Admiral turns to his/her staff and asks "Where is Poe and Black Squadron?" Answer could be "He sent a message recently stating he was "working on something special".

Just as the battle nears the climax.....a radio call to the Republic....."Black Leader to Home One....stand by.....we are engaging now...".......then Poe does the iconic "All Wings Report In"......camera goes through the report in scene, then back to Poe....then pans out and reveals a squadron of T-95 X-Wings......

Here is a rough first draft of the T-95.....working with MS Paint right now and trying to modify a T-65 color picture into the T-95

More wings! More lasers! And make it at least 20% bigger! And... oh, and add a second droid, because it HAS to be new and BETTER!

After ridiculous Death Star 3 I don't really want to see the same trend in other ships.

So 40 years from now, at the premiere of Episode XXXXII, you want them still flying around in X-wings?

It's just an idea.....and BTW instead of 2nd droid I was thinking of a gunner facing rearward.

Maybe not X-wings, maybe some completely new design, but I strongly dislike the idea of making "more wings". Especially when "wings" are clearly not needed in SW at all. I'd enjoy seeing slightly adjusted fuselage, some new looking guns and upgraded engines. Let's not fall into "bigger! better!" trap so favored by Germany in WWII. That's also why latest generation fighter jets don't have more wings than cold war ones.

X-wings, despite their illogical flaws, are a nice looking design. I'd rather prefer them to stay that way and avoid becoming ridiculous just to please the fans (just as there are some people who love fantasy games and think that absurdly large swords look cool. No, they don't, they are laughable).

OK, I understand your point.....but I like my design too. And remember the ARC-170 precursor to the T-65 had six "wings" although the upper and lower surfaces were not full "wings" but extended cooling fins. I was trying to keep the core design of the X-wing intact.
