    Greetings Cantina dwellers

Not sure if this has been dealt with before (if so, I apologise and agree to be the next main course at an Ewok banquet)

Has any one read the new OT novelisations? (A New Hope - the Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy,
The Empire Strikes Back - So You Want to Be a Jedi?,
Return of the Jedi - Beware the Power of the Dark Side) and if so, are they good basically?

Thinking of picking them up and looking for Cantina recommendations

I think they're just like young reader versions aren't they? I'm under the impression that due to their nature they simply restate what takes place, and don't give any further insight so I didn't bother.

I believe so, I think they've tied them into the larger world of canon - i.e. Padme is named, I think Ahsoka gets a mention in the last book - but the stories are for YA

I've read the ANH and ROTJ novelisations and I truly recommend them. Though there are some details from the first one that have caused some disagreements between fans, I reckon the way the author places the narrative in three parts, from each of the main characters perspective is quite refreshing. Also, in that novel there is a little more information on Leia's torture and her extended reaction to Alderaan's destruction.

I tried to read the second but the style didn't feel right.

The third one is quite good since it incorporates several elements from the current canon - the prequels, TCW, even Rebels - into the narrative. I found it quite entertaining too.

    Thanks, Your Worshipfulness

What are the details that have outraged the community?

I've never known any SW fans to get in a rage? ( ;) )

LOL. Naaah it was actually more about the depiction of Han with his afterthought about Obi-Wan's sacrifice, thinking if he would do the same (wink wink The Force Awakens LOL).

I would definitely recommend the ROTJ YA novelization and probably the ANH YA novelization, but I could not finish the ESB YA novelization. Hope this helps you out! ;)

The second one "So you want to be a Jedi" has some added stuff with Yoda and Luke and gives you more of a feel that their time is longer than an afternoon or two. It's very much more from the point of view of Luke, and less on the end of Leia, Han and Chewie, though that is told as well. I agree though that it wasn't as interesting as the other two. The first one was excellent and very much worth reading.

That's neat! I think I stopped reading when Yoda was telling Luke some story about a chicken or something? Idk! :)

It was really dumbed down in relation to the other two. I understand what the author was trying to do, make the reader think are a Jedi in training, but even my nine year old found it dumb.

Yeah. I hear some of the other YA novels are better.
