SPECULATION New Republic Weapons Technology in VIII

    with some tumors happening that we could maybe see some republic cruisers in VIII what kind of technology do you think it would have? The First Order seems to be sticking with old Imperial technology and The Resistsnce has technology that hasn't changed in 31 + years.
    I, personally, think that the new republic should have technology similar to the republic cruisers in the pt as they'd probably have more funding and be more technologically updated in the 31+ something years they've been around.

    If I'm not mistaken, most of the New Republic fleet was destroyed with Hosnian Prime. I'm not sure how new or advanced the remnant of the fleet will be, but I hope we get to see some of the classic fighter ships like A-wings, Y-wings, or B-wings (or something new like a J-wing or K-wing, as seen in The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens).

    As far as the design style is concerned, I wouldn't mind if they took inspiration from the PT. However, I think it would be cool if the New Republic technology was representative of the diverse planets and cultures within the Republic. Rather than have one particular design style, the New Republic technology could be a conglomeration of different kinds of alien technology and designs from across the galaxy, while still having an overall consistent look that is distinct from the First Order.

    Maybe something like the new F-35 Raptors where they have the core jet but it's adapted to for various needs .

    I think we will end up seeing a mish mosh of different types of ships from different areas, similar to ANH. Maybe we'll get introduced to some new styles and the such.
