A series of scans from the updated edition of Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know reveal some interesting information about some of the new content that will be seen in The Last Jedi, such as what kind of Force abilities Snoke can use. Click ahead to see what's inside...

Eight pages in the book are dedicated to The Last Jedi (scans provided by chem072117 at r/StarWarsLeaks). The first pair of pages are explicitly just a cover image, which features the cast photo above in different lighting:

Nothing really new on this front, but that's the exception and not the rule here. The second pair of pages are focused on Ahch-To, Rey, and Luke Skywalker:

So the new details we can gather from this particular set of pages are as follows:

    • Rey isn't on Ahch-To to train with Luke, she's trying to recruit him for the Resistance effort.
    • Luke has spent at least two years on Ahch-To; if we expand upon this bit with what we know about the canon, then this means that the time between Ben Solo's betrayal and Luke Skywalker's decision to set up shop on Ahch-To is as great as four years (since Bloodline mentions that Luke and Ben are still teacher and student six years before The Force Awakens), and as little as a few months. There seems to be a deliberate amount of vagueness here so that storytellers have a good amount of creative freedom with these stories.
    • Chewbacca fills in the emptiness in his life that Han's death created with a bunch of puffin-penguin-guinea-pig things.

On to the third pair of pages, which don't focus on any specific characters, they just highlight what life on Cantonica and specifically Canto Bight is like:

Not too much worth pointing out here other than that this gives us some technical details on what the things in these places are called.

Finally, the fourth pair of pages focus on all things related to the Dark Side... Oh, and Finn and Rose are there, too:

And these are the most illuminating of the pages. To wit:

    • Kylo Ren wants revenge for his humiliating defeat at Rey's hands.
    • We have explicit confirmation that Snoke can use the Force, with abilities in telekinetically throwing and choking people and telepathy emphasized. That last one is important for those who have read the novel, as it's hinted that Snoke tries to tempt Rey into killing Kylo Ren after besting him in single combat.
    • The Praetorian Guards are humans, not droids or aliens, and are armed with all sorts of unique weapons.
    • The Praetorian Guards are eight in number, ruling out the possibility that they're the other six Knights of Ren in fancier armor.
    • The Resistance labels bombs with messages to the First Order.
    • 'Crankypants' is apparently a word used to describe Rose Tico, because of course it is.

There's nothing hugely spoiler-filled here, but it's interesting to see how this addresses a handful of the questions that we've had about the plot for a while. We're coming up close on that trailer, so hopefully we'll get more and more answers as the time comes.

    Great information.

I find of greatest importance to be finally confirmed that Snoke's skill - telepathy.

I guess long lasting debate did Snoke influenced Ben Solo as a baby is over, he did trough telepathy.

Man... the hairstyle they used on Rose is just brutal looking

Don't think any of us should be surprised that Snoke has a full complement of Force powers

I'm sick of being force fed that the Porgs are ''adorable!"
Every time they come up in an article its " those adorable Porgs!"
I get it Disney , you want to sell all your Porg merchandise
but let me make up my own mind about them being adorable or if I want to drop kick one off the cliffs of Ahch-to
jeez I'm grumpy tonight, time for a whiskey and I bid you good night sirs(emperor)

Outside of telepathy, seems like a pretty standard smorgasbord of force abilities.

Yes ,long standing fight to prove Snoke has influenced Ben Solo from birth has been righteous (and proven) all the time, now this "Telepathy" is just a cherry on the top.

If only I could get removed many "Dooku" or worse ratings I got for proving, without a shadow of a doubt, that Aftermath novels speak ,on few occassions ,about Snoke influencing Ben Solo from birth, obviously by "telepathy".:(

next question untill the film: Why Snoke didn't he sensed by telepathy Rey on Jakku?

Let go. We know there is still good sense in you.

I am glad they pushed Telepathy. Many of the things we saw Kylo do were more mental than we had seen in previous films; mind reading (previously this seemed mostly emotion reading), the Force roophie, stopping the bolt, all the powers are less about push, pull we saw a lot of.

So a title stating"New Book REVEALS..." isn't a good enough warning to not come into the thread?

I find it interesting how the Prateorian guards are described as human. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a time when during the OT there were people who thought that Vader was a robot, even with that shot in ESB briefly without his helmet. So, hey; it's poetry it rhymes :) Jokes aside, I do like seeing Rey seeking Luke for the Resistance, given that was the goal. Still, confused why Leia didn't go, but hopefully that will be addressed in the movie. A small line like being there to maintain leadership would fit her character actually.

The time vaugness of Luke being on Ach-too and everything is fine I guess. I just hope it is fleshed out. Kylo Ren wanting revenge brings a smile to my face. He's almost like most of the audience who hated that outcome :) But really, given he is to me the best developed character of the ST; I want to see how he turns out and really give Rey a proper schooling.

As for Rey herself, I will be curious to see how she is roped into being trained. Because, Luke came to Yoda for the purpose of being trained. Luke, perhaps, taking pity on Rey and requesting she trains would actually be a nice reversal. Especially, given how Rey is very much like Luke when he was younger in that he was placed into a strange circumstance.

Overall, I am looking forward this movie and just need to see the trailer.

Well, I'm guessing there is a good chance of seeing Snoke do some force chokes and throws in TLJ.

Geez, I hope Snoke isnt being limited to 'Force Throw' and 'Force Choke'- those have been done to death in the saga. Why not show us some new Force powers?

I wouldn't read too much into Snoke's telepathy, multiple FS characters have used forms of telepathy and clearly Kylo must have learnt his Force interrogation techniques from someone.

I suspect that Snoke still needs to be in close contact to use his telepathy.

Nice of them to squeeze Finn in, slightly concerned about the equal amount of attention that Rose seems to be getting.

His telepathy influence on Ben is canon fact from novels. It appears his telepathy is spaceless, not bound to distance,he can feel from the other side of the galaxy(scarry, dam right).Snoke also has observed from distance what was happening in the galaxy during Empire, again I think this his insights came from telepathy.

He couldn't sense Rey on Jakku though...interesting.

I thought that baby ben/leia could feel a malevolent presence not actually feel that presence reading their mind or communicating with them? Is that the canon thing you're referring to?

Do people actually want Kylo to be a telepathic puppet?

I doubt it personally. If Snoke could get in anyone's head from across the galaxy, he'd be in the minds of all the Resistance fighters and find their base etc.
The darkness inside Ben is likely more just about the presence of the dark side and light side within.
No doubt Snoke was watching Ben all along and when he was able to get close to him began his manipulation. I think it possible for example that once he actually came into contact with Ben, he placed certain thoughts in his head - voices perhaps that Ben thought were that of his grandfather or the Force itself guiding him.
