In George Lucas Star Wars you had the Universe and all that is going on there story and you had characters stories within that Universe Story. I liked how each show had a beginning and end for the individual characters stories with an over arching Universe story left open for the next movie to complete.

I do not want to see Star Wars become a weekly Soap Opera type movie. I would have been more satisfied with the search for Luke to be continuing rather than her find him and the baton race pass off ending we had, or even finishing up the, I found Luke story by having them interact and answer some questions about where he has been, are they related etc...

Each movie should start and end character stories and let the state of the Universe be the "Cliffhanger".

Just an opinion. Id rather wonder what happens next than wonder if Rey is Luke's daughter, who Snoke is, or if Finn will live, have implants etc...

I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers either. But the ending of TFA didn't bother me, hell, I even think it's one of the best endings in the Star Wars saga.

I don't think VIII or IX will feature such a big cliffhanger, though. Maybe VIII has just the same kind of a "Cliffhanger" like TESB. => "What's up with our heroes and what's the state of galaxy now?"

I have nothing against cliffhangers, considering that each trilogy seemed to tell a separate story and not just one particular movie, except for the stand-alones that Disney plans to churn out. I get the feeling that a lot of people seem to lack the patience to deal with multi-arc stories in movies and television. I find that rather sad.

It wouldn't be Star Wars without the cliffhangers! And TFA's ending was amazing! Probably one of my favourite scenes. It just makes the wait until the next movie more exciting and the anticipation becomes so intense you can almost cut through it with a lightsaber. Being a part of it all is another reason why it's so special. What would these forums be for without the cliffhangers? What would we have to discuss if the endings were all satisfying and rounded?

I like cliff-hangers. George did the same in ANH and ESB and closure was only provided in ROTJ. Similarly, closure was provided for in TPM and ROTS. But the start of the Clone Wars and Anakin's secret marriage to Padmé was quite a cliff hanger in AOTC. TFA's ending is generally regarded as the best of the series, and hell we're still talking about it. It is the ultimate means to engage the audience with the narrative, especially when such engagement will keep you anxious for the coming two years wait. :p

No cliffhangers? Personally, it sounds a little boring to me. I just finished watching the three Divergent movies that are out. The first two could be stand alones as well as tell the complete story. However, I think it would be better if the movie ended by leading into the next movie a little more. It keeps people coming back and gives you a starting point for the next movie.

We are left wondering about the state of the galaxy. The First Order has come out of the shadows to play, the Hosnian System was destroyed along with most of the Republic Fleet and the political figureheads, Starkiller Base was destroyed - it'll be chaos

Kylo has been summoned by Snoke, and Luke has been found by Rey

Wasn't ESB a cliffhanger? Not as literally as TFA, where it started right where it left off, but the movie didn't have an ending in 1980. I will say that fans were more mad in 1980 then 2015, simply because many people weren't used to movie franchises and trilogies, and felt they were cheated at the end of ESB. With the TFA cliffhanger, it works in 2015 because we all can't wait to see Luke/Rey.

Well, I actually liked the cliffhanger-esque ending of The Force Awakens. Seeing Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker again just for that brief scene really left me wanting more, which in turn adds to the anticipation.

BRING THE HYPE!!!!! :p lol [IMG]
