Now that you have seen R1 do you have faith in more stand alone movies?

I never was really happy about R1. its was a good film but as far as an SW film, I guess im attached to the whole storyarc. thats why i like TCW and Rebels. A movie about what we already know!? It sounds like im talking bad about it, which im not purposely doing but I wasnt a big fan of it when it was the first stand alone film. But to keep with the thread, my faith is low on more stand alone movies. they would have to get me excited about an Solo/Fett movies. R1 just didnt catch my eye nor my heart in that matter. Yeah I would like to see the Falcon make the Kessle run in 12 parsecs, How he and chewie got together. I like to see Boba Fett film of him starting his bounty hunter saga(Disney going in a suicide squad format where the bad guy seems good) but its Disney so the whole villain/bad guy in Boba would be serious thought out like R1. I see why Edwards was chosen with his cinematic views but I think the story of R1 with reshoots and script hurt my viewing of it alil more. I like the movie but not worth a second viewing. I wish I did love it and say it was great but it hard to see a star wars film that to me should of been a novel rather than a film....

Pretty sure Lando isn't getting his own movie but will be featured in the upcoming Solo film. One thing that's amazing this time around is no one seems to be complaining about the fact we have yet another SW movie about the Death Star xD People were howling about the similarities in The Force Awakens. But the fact the movie is about the Death Star PLANS, as we all knew going in, hasn't really riled the people who were so vocal about it after TFA.

I guess I'm really looking forward to a Star Wars film without the Death Star or anything like it LOL

I'm a fan of TFA, but I think the criticism of yet another Super Weapon with a relatively easily accessed self-destructing flaw was a fair one. It really did feel like DS 3.0. I'd be surprised if people were riled up about the DS in this movie given where it lies on the SW time line. I mean, it's basically Episode 3.5. DS references were unavoidable. I'm glad I didn't see anyone complain about it here.

I'm won over, it was a great experience to see what happens when we step away from the trilogies & see a complete story. I'm sure looking forward to more.

so far I'm not interested in the Han Solo or Boba Fett standalones. I would be interested in a Kenobi standalone instead. ;)

R1 is a door opener for a various amount of different types of movies.
The great thing about R1 was, it didn't felt like the saga films. It's a war movie. Because of R1 I think we will get different movie genres set in the Star Wars universe. I'm looking forward to watching a Western like Star Wars movie, for example a Kenobi stand alone film.

I have faith in more stand alone movies so far.

I really hope that we will be positive surprised by the Han Solo standalone and I think it will be the case for myself.
Harrison Ford added a lot to a not now completely evaluated "feeling" about a SW movie being a "real" SW movie; if we think of his interaction with Leia and Luke. He was this charismatic "counterpart" that is needed for the "little" extra. Therefore I am excited about how EPVIII will work without him and also if someone will be really capable to follow in his overlarge footsteps.
If they have done an excellent job for the Han Solo casting and with the right script from the Kasdans it could work. Let's stay optimistic.
I would love to see a cool SW space race on my 40th anniversary in May 2018 (Does anybody out there hear me? PLEASE don't move it to December, think of it. It has to be MAY!) :D

Both Disney films have been very good, well made films, regardless of content. They are head and shoulders above the prequels.

I think any films put out by this group will very watchable. The bar has been set high and I don't think they will allow the quality to dip.

As long as they don't get silly and start doing origin stories for Jar Jar Binks or some such...

I have confidence/faith in the stand alone movies, even more since watching Rogue One but I have to say I'm a little underwhelmed by the Han Solo movie.

I'd say mainly it's just the thought of two other actors playing two much loved characters. For me Harrison Ford IS Han Solo. It's a long time away and I'm sure my feelings will change closer to its release, even more so if the actors nail their parts.

I really do hope it's more about the criminal underworld rather than the Empire/Rebels. Hope to see Jabba make an appearance alongside Fett.

Looking forward to seeing what film they make of the third stand alone movie. Excited about what that could be.

I'm incredibly confident in Star Wars anthology films. Rogue One was a beautiful piece of cinema... I loved it. I'm not 100% sure of a Han Solo film but I'm always willing to give something new a chance.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. I loved the scene early on where Cassian is on his own... That world looked bad ass. I want to see more of that place! Maybe a bounty hunter trilogy or a trilogy on the Guardians of the Whills.... The possibilities are endless. Freakin endless.

Because I'm a fan, I'm going to go see the movie, whether the reviews that start rolling back in are good or bad. I just hope that the movie is good, I hope they keep the character that Harrison Ford breathed life into, consistent. I mean they can show him evolving, but it shouldn't be a change of Han, just for the sake of changing him up. It'd be interesting to see how Han became the person that we see in ANH. The only thing that really worries me is that if it's completely and entirely separate to the Episodic films, maybe it doesn't connect for the fans. Even without the Jedi, R1 still ties to the flow between 3 and 4. I hope there is a way to see Han's life and how living under the shadow of the empire may have influenced it.

And obviously, I think we need to see the Kessel run... and hopefully it has some even greater significance to the Star Wars fabric beyond just being a point of reference. I have hope for this movie.

I make no effort to hide my love of these first two Disney Star Wars films, nor do I hide the fact that I'm excited for the future.

..and a few background tales about the whole smuggling business would be not bad either. One of the bonus features of this HS standalone could be sarcastic humor if it's done the right way. And I am with you that they shouldn't change too much of the Scoundrels typical characteristics.

What part of his life would they cover? We get to see a lot of his origins along side Anakins don't we? Would it be to tell the story of what Obi is up to between Episodes 3 and 4?
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 19, 2016, Original Post Date: Dec 19, 2016 ---
Yeah it really would be a good chance to see more about the Hutts, how Han meets Chewie, if Han ever had other ship mates, when Han first Maz Kanata and Lando. But a more detailed exploration of the smuggling business, the competition with other smugglers, and why the black market business thrived and was necessary under the Empire would really go along way to adding even more depth to the Star Wars Universe. In keeping with the idea that no one is totally evil or good, it'd be interesting to see more about the Hutts. I am hopeful that it is done as well as R1.

Rogue One was a good concept. A story worth showing with great potential (no wonder its been floating around for years). Im still not so sure about the others, but so far they haven't given us any reason not to believe in LFL.

Can I say that I have faith in all of them except the Han Solo one? Or is that not allowed?

As good as Rogue One was, I suspect heavy revisionism incoming for his character, and someone will dig up an old book and claim "he was always like that", but that we just "didn't get it."
