The first official clip for the Disney Plus limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi has released, showing Luke Skywalker's protective uncle get into a disagreement with our hero over whether or not he should become a Jedi - with Owen leaving scathing words about Obi-Wan's track record with Skywalkers.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and nine years before A New Hope, with the Jedi Master at an emotional crossroads as he realizes that the galaxy needs Luke Skywalker to become a Jedi Knight. This leads him to cross paths with his protective uncle Owen, who believes that Luke should not be exposed to that path, especially in the age of the Empire.

The scene, initially teased in the second trailer for the series, has Obi-Wan talking about what the future has in store for Luke Skywalker. He wants him to be prepared for the challenges that he's going to face, whether Owen likes it or not, instead of spending his life on a moisture farm. On the contrary, Owen feels as though our protagonist has done enough harm to the Skywalker family as it is, bringing up some harsh words about Obi-Wan's ability to teach a student. Check out the confrontation clip, introduced by Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, below:

The clip appears to be from the first episode of the series, before Obi-Wan goes on an adventure that takes him out of the sandy dunes of Tatooine and into cityscapes full of wretched hives of scum and villainy. It is interesting that one of the first clips we get for this show emphasizes character interactions over spectacle, which should hopefully bode well for how this series is approached.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will have its two-episode debut on Disney Plus on May 27, 2022, and will air its remaining four episodes on subsequent Wednesday nights. The series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Rupert Friend, Sung Kang, Indira Varma, Kumail Nanjiani, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross.
