Always on the move... The first look at Disney Plus's highly-anticipated limited event series Obi-Wan Kenobi has arrived via set photos and a cover from Entertainment Weekly.

Entertainment Weekly officially revealed the cover of their upcoming issue today online, with the forthcoming featured piece set to dish out key details on the newest entry in the Star Wars franchise and the third live-action Star Wars show overall. The series stars Ewan McGregor and is set in the approximate midpoint between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, ten years after the former and nine years before the latter. (Obi-Wan Kenobi, incidentally, will be on the cover of the final print issue of the magazine as it switches to a purely digital format going forward.) Check it out below:

With the magazine cover come some story details about the long-awaited series. Aside from the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi, we also see the return of the likes of Joel Edgerton's Owen Lars, alongside a new character: an Imperial Inquisitor by the name of Reva, presumably searching for the whereabouts of the Jedi Master. According to Ewan McGregor, the series shows that Obi-Wan is not in a good place emotionally, being in a state where he feels 'rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up' - but his mission to watch over a young Luke Skywalker leads him on a larger quest that will have him leaving the deserts of Tatooine on a journey across the galaxy far, far away, where he will be forced to confront his fallen apprentice Darth Vader once again. One of the locations in the series is the newly-introduce Daiyu, a planet with a neon-lit neo-noir feel to its metropolis.

Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) directs all six episodes, which are written by screenwriter Joby Harold (Undeground, Army of the Dead). Also confirmed to appear in the series are returning characters Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Bonnie Piesse as Beru Whitesun Lars, and an unspecified actor playing the Grand Inquisitor, alongside an ensemble that includes the likes of Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross.

In addition, the magazine-turned-website has released the following images from the series:

Obi-Wan Kenobi will be arriving on Disney Plus on May 25, 2022 - 45 years after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. The series is set to run for six episodes and will likely have a prominent role at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in the same month.

It's cool to see Owen Lars standing up to the Inquisitor, if only momentairly. I hope we get more Owen & Beru then I've been assuming in this one, as they deserve some spotlight and can function as great context and tension-building for the show. Make us love the pair and show why Luke loves them so much... to make us cry even more the next time we watch ANH and get to that one particular "darkest hour" scene in the 1st act :(
