Why amber? What first comes to mind is Jurassic park style cloning experiments. But I haven't seen anyone talk about amber as electricity or energy. The word electricity comes from the Greek and Latin words for amber. This added to my speculation that they may be tapping their energy as force slaves. How much would it piss off Vader if the energy was used in an effort to bring Padme back to life, or heal himself and be immortal in body, and Wade pulls the plug? Is there no shield because they're draining the Jedi and pumping their energy out of this fortress? Are we going to see Padme's coffin, and Vader still trying to revive her in fear, hate and rage for the people he believes did that to her, not acknowledging that it was he that killed her? This is getting exciting to think about... Those characters could walk out of those cells! Two episodes left-- This is where things get good hopefully. They have to go big with the ending, don't you think? I call b.s. on the leaks.

At the same time, I'd be amazed by how meticulous Vader keeps it. There's probably one guy whose job it is to walk up and down that hallway with one of those big floor buffer machines, and a bottle of cleaner for the windows, while wearin' headphones and listening to jams. Then Vader enters like he did with Reva, and yells at him for missing a spot. Clean it right or die! Effective management skills. The ice cream machine at the Mustafar Mcdonalds was probably never broken once.

My brain's maybe writing its own story. I imagine those characters taken from there and tortured in the room where we hear Leia's screams for help nearby.

That's fine- it's just that so often, it feels less like critiques and more like vultures stalking perfectly healthy prey.

I hate to lump everyone into one, and there are totally valid criticisms of any SW stuff... but with so many overdramatic, click-baity, and yes... racist bad actors out there, I think it is a bit on the shoulders of legitimate critics to differentiate their wheat from the chaff. And frankly, when we have people waiting each week to tear apart the newest episode, it's hard to tell what their motives are. It is indisputable that parts of our fandom are about as toxic as can get.

Star Wars is for everyone... but if someone doesn't like it anymore, perhaps its healthiest to let it go.

To be fair that is unfortunately not exclusive to Star Wars.
Nonetheless we all shouldn't be polemic.

Not exclusive, but our fandom is pretty infamous for it.

I'm merely saying that almost anyone writing legitimate criticism should be aware that this isn't happening in a vacuum. Again, that absolutely doesn't mean that you can't critique the new stuff, but the eager vitriol I see from even sources I trust aren't bad actors, immediately after pretty much any Star Wars thing... it just becomes almost impossible to separate from the trash.

Maybe it's not fair, but it feels like even those with the best of intentions accidentally add their voices to the Fandom Menace, and frankly don't seem to care that this is the case.

SW criticism requires a LOT more nuance these days, moreso than many sources (even the well-intended ones) seem to be capable of.

Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy Episode 4. But I enjoyed Episode 3 more. I found it interesting to see Obi-Wan at his lowest. If Vader is supposed to be the main villain for this series, I don't see why he should be on screen only briefly.

This place was designed for fans to discuss things they liked or didn't like -- or have questions or ideas about what they've seen. It's meant to be a fun gathering place for folks obsessed with SW....uh, like me. That's why fans visit this site.

But one of the things that I've found curious in the short time I've been around here is how often the critics use gaslighting language -- and, as cawatrooper mentions, overly dramatic takes as if the poster is deliberately trying to piss other fans off. I've certainly not been shy about sharing my SW beefs, but there's a Grand Canyon-wide difference between stating you dislike something and here's your reasons why and making some wildly hyperbolic comment like, "this SW show was The Absolute Worst thing I've ever seen -- it makes me want to puke and forget this franchise exists!!!" What I find particularly bizarre, is the number of times the gaslighting posts come from long-time members and even ones who are listed as board moderators for crying out loud! You'd think they, of all posters, would know better.

To be fair to the showrunners, it was never advertised that Vader would get equal screentime to Obi-wan.

In fact, I assumed going into the show that we'd likely get only one big dramatic confrontation between the two coming at the Grand Finale so we've already gotten more Vader than I personally expected going in.

Sometimes people want to express their feelings and as long as they don't insult other people I can live with that. We let people share their praise without bringing a lot of arguments and so we let people do it if they don't like something. We just should do it in a civil manner with respect for opinions and feelings of other members.

I'm all for passionate discussions as long as posters are, as you said, civil and respectful. Those types of exchanges are often the most interesting threads for fans here to read.

But IMHO, gaslighting language pushes hard on the trolling envelope, particularly when critics don't take the time to explain themselves. Saying things like "the directing was amateurish" or "the script was horrible" doesn't tell anybody anything -- all it does is piss off other people. What was amateurish about the directing? What made the script horrible? Often, when critics take the time to go into detail, it can lead to interesting exchanges that can end with responses (on either side of the debate) like, "wow, I hadn't looked at it THAT way before."

For the most part, I feel this place is very run well, especially compared to 'that other place.' ;)

I was looking through some of my own older posts just to remind myself of how amazing I am, and in some chit-chat from 2018 about unnecessary exposition and how unimportant backstory for Snoke is, I jovially said:

"So if they revealed Snoke is the result of cloning using the preserved-in-amber genes of Darth Tenebrous spliced with Jorus C'baoth and brought to life by a spell uttered by the Witches of Dathomir, it doesn't mean anything to the current story, and possibly just alienates the wider audience."

Not only had I obviously basically just predicted the resurrection of the Emperor without even trying, it looks like I MAY have predicted another thing... maybe a plot where all of those Jedi in amber we've just seen Obi-Wan stumble across are perhaps being saved as back-up for Sith cloning experiments and Dark Side magic rebirth plans. Should, you know, anything bad happen to the Emperor.

This story is deepening. Looking over the clips from ep 4, I'm seeing some symbols I didn't notice on the first look. The floor around the table where Ice Cube's son, Ice Chip is standing, there's a solar pattern of rays. In the center of the table is the hologram of the spherical water moon, then they zoom in on the Fortress Inquisitorious. In blue and red as well. Think about those symbols, and the conversation that happens at that table, if you are into esoteric SW. I feel like they're setting up for a really nice ending.

Have a look around the room

Listen to Wade's pilot friend's name. Sully?

Wade in the water.... Wade separated from Sully = unsullied.
This is baptismal too. There's a spiritual rebirth brewing.
Maybe in actress named Moses! Too much.

For me this episode lacks in suspense. The only good thing here is the James Earl Jones voice, that's always a pleasure to hear.
It feels like the battle in Mustafar in ROTS, no soul.
Also I hate when the photography its too dark.
