Obi-Wan Kenobi First Poster Revealed; Series Will Debut May 25th on Disney Plus

    Hello there! The first poster for the Disney Plus limited original series Obi-Wan Kenobi has arrived, alongside the official May 25, 2022, release date.



    Moments ago, on a Disney conference call discussing quarterly earnings, Disney CEO Bob Chapek revealed that the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi will make its debut not on the oft-speculated May The Fourth Be With You fan holiday, but on May 25, which marks the 45th anniversary of A New Hope. This matches up with previous indications that the show would be arriving in May 2022. Coinciding with this news, the teaser poster for the series was revealed online:

    Disney has also revealed a press release for the new series:



    The series is set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, initially following Obi-Wan's trials protecting the young Luke Skywalker from a distance. However, fate sets the Jedi-in-hiding on a different path, and he is placed on a collision course with destiny as he goes on a planet-spanning quest that will have him cross paths with Darth Vader once again. The series is comprised of six one-hour episodes, each directed by Deborah Chow and written by Joby Harold.



    In other Disney Plus-related news, Chapek mentioned that the first season of Andor is still set to target its Q4 2022 release window, while the third season of The Mandalorian is still in production for an unspecified release date. There was no mention about the release date of The Bad Batch or any other upcoming Star Wars production on the streaming service.



    Lucasfilm's streaming slate of Disney Plus content includes the ongoing series The Book of Boba Fett and The Acolyte, additional seasons of The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, and Andor, the limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, and Lando, the animated movie A Droid Story, and possibly a second season of Visions alongside a Tales of the Jedi series.

    Well, Filoni and Faverau didn't do a good job with TBOBF ;)

    Furthermore Deborah Chow is a pretty good director, maybe even the best of the Mando directors crew.

    NGL, I was really hoping for a trailer today. That, along with the game's outcome is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. Hopefully tomorrow can provide, if not good news or company, good food...
