I remember hearing that Obiwan is supposed to have at least some sort of presence in every SW movie, at least for now. His presence in 1-6 and TCW is obvious, he is heard in the Force flashback in TFA, and R1 intentionally uses a planet named Wobani (anagram of Obiwan).

I don’t remember any presence of Obiwan in TLJ. Did I miss something? Can you enlighten me? Thank you.

There was no presence, unless you count Luke's mention that it was a Jedi who trained Darth Vader. Also, in the novelization, when Luke is watching the twin suns he hears the voice saying "Let go, Luke.". It was never mentioned who the voice was (traditionally, Obi-Wan was the one who talked to Luke) and, of course, it wasn't in the movie. So, basically, not really?

I remeber reading an interview from Rian that talked about him not having Obi-Wan appear to Luke. Maybe this is the main reason why we didn't hear or see Obi-Wan in TLJ.

“Believe me, man. I would have loved to have had Ewan McGregor in the movie but it was just a matter of storytelling. The original relationship with Obi Wan — obviously if Alec Guinness were still with us that would have made sense,” he told The Playlist. “But we never saw Luke ever interact with the Ewan version of Obi Wan, so there’s less of the emotional connection and it might have been a little odd. So, it made sense and we could recreate that character [practically], so it made sense that Yoda be the one that comes back and kicks [Luke’s] butt a little.”

I personally think that they would've had little problem aging Ewan for an appearance next to Yoda for Luke's scene....but oh well. I think that the "Luke never interacted with young Obi-Wan" statement seems like a convenient excuse and a cop-out, but I didn't make the movie, so be it.

I agree, I think it's a cop-out too but wanted to give a possible factual reason. I think ageing up Ewan would work. Having him grow out a beard and dye it white/grey would be half of the battle and it is an easy thing to do with makeup convincingly. I would argue de-aging an actor is harder and the CGI tech isn't quite there yet to make it 100% convincing. I also agree, it's a shame that we didn't get any Obi-Wan influence in TLJ.

Ewan is Obi-wan. He has way more screen time than Alec, therefore he is Obi-Wan..

Okay the fandom that least I was apart of said that she was at least of three possibilities: 1) Skywalker 2) Kenobi 3) Nobody. So, this wasn't one of those "subvert expectations" moment. I would agree with you on Snoke's death though.

I think he's more concerned about the voice then necessarily the performance. It would be a bit jarring hearing Prequel Obi-Wan vs OT Obi-Wan in a OT Obi-Wan's body. Plus, how he died it was his oldself not like Anakin when he suddenly became younger.

I agree, if they did wanted to use OT Obi-Wan voice, they should use Stephen Stanton. He voiced Obi-Wan in Rebels Twin Suns episode. His voice was a very convincing and wasn't far off from Alec Guinness.

Yeah Obiwan was Not in the film. The novelization I hope to read sometime, and I am pretty sure that "Let go Luke" that Luke hears is Obiwan without a doubt. As we know in ANH, that's what Obiwan tells Luke to do as he pilots the Xwing

We see the recording of Leia pleading to him for help from back in ANH.

Luke sees it again, and it's relevant to Luke now, because of Leia's pleading for him to return.

So there you go. That's your Obi Wan presence.

Well, if "Wobani" counts as an Obi-Wan presence, then definitely Leia's hologram also does, as well as the reference to Vader's master.

There's also the little matter of the trilogy's main antagonist being called after him.

I know they aren't as direct, but again, if Wobani conts...

R1 actual Kenobi reference is Bail and Mon's conversation.

Yes, that was awesome, and I almost mentioned it in the original post, but I was trying to stay concise and focused.

Luke mentions Obi-Wan indirectly when he says a Jedi trained Darth Vader.

I think there needs to be an Obi-Wan and even Anakin force ghost or at least their voices in IX in order to tie it all together. Of course, I don't think Anakin should have ever been a force ghost based on the rigorous training Yoda and Obi-Wan had to go through to learn the secret... and he never should have appeared as young Anakin... but I digress. Since Anakin somehow became a force ghost, there should be a purpose for it. In TFA, when Kylo is asking his grandfather to speak to him it gave me the sense that Anakin had spoken to him before. I'd really like JJ to come full circle with that.

I think it's more likely that Obi-Wan and Yoda made him a force ghost then Anakin making himself into a force ghost. Cause of Obi-Wan's whole certain point of view message.
