    Here the news many of us Star Wars fans are waiting for the development Obi-wan' stand-alone movie.


    This can be the clue Obi-wan is Rey's grandfather by coming out a solo movie about him so we learn more about what Obi-wan acquired this hidden family?

    THR also states that a script has not been written so there are currently no actors attached to the project (though I’d bet Ewan McGregor will reprise his role with no problem).

    I once wanted Obi-Wan to be Rey's grandfather, but not any longer. Because it won't add any value if Obi-Wan is Rey's grandfather.
    "You are the offspring of Obi-Wan Kenobi." "Who?" / "Okay... But who or where are my parents?"

    Yes, this theory has some awesome aspects, but you would need too much exposition to explain it. Rey Random would be much easier to explain and therefore it's the best theory.

    Don't forget Obi-Wan can speak to Rey and tell more to Rey about her family.

    I think obi wan and shimi got together while anakin was at school. Thats the only explanation. Lol

    Seriously though, if they go that route, I.......I really fear the future of Star Wars.

    Of course I want to see Ewan in a new Star Wars film. I always wanted him to come back and I'm so glad he will get his own spin-off movie. But him being Rey's grandfather would shrink the universe even more. Let a new family shine!

    I won't hate it if Rey is a Kenobi, but in my opinion there are better options.

    Your case is stated excellently, but my belief is she is a new character fullfilling the "part" of obi-wan. Just my two cents.

    Also, this is also a pretty good example of how unoriginal TFA was. Again, just my opinion

    "It's like poetry", just like this:

    The ship of the good guys (with a similar design) is "swallowed" by the big gray ship of the bad guys, the 2 heroes (R2,3PO/Obi-Wan,Qui-Gon) have to go on the planet below (Tatooine/Naboo) to not be captured by the bad guys.

    -The princess/queen captured by the bad guys at the beginning of the movie and saved by the heroes.

    -A big part of the movie on Tatooine, R2, 3PO and Obi-Wan on this planet just like in ANH, Anakin lives on it, discovers the Force with a Jedi mentor (Obi-Wan for Luke/Qui-Gon for Anakin) and leaves the planet with him to become a Jedi just like Luke, there's even a clone of the city of Mos Eisley in Episode 1: Mos Espa.

    -The jedi mentor is killed by a Sith in a lightsaber duel and his apprentice screams "noooo" (in 7 Kylo is not a Sith, there's no lightsaber battle and Han is not the Jedi master of Rey)

    Scroll the pictures to see all the similarities between the battle of Naboo and the battle of Yavin:



    -Space battle against a big ship with a gray "Death Star like sphere" on it at the end of the movie, the little starfighter of the good guys fly from a forested planet (Naboo/Yavin 4), Anakin/Luke in his starfighter with R2-D2 saves everyone by destroying the big ship of the bad guy with 2 missiles in the heart of the spaceship.

    And this is just a little example of the "poetry" between the prequels and the trilogy.

    The only unoriginal thing in TFA is Starkiller. Lucas kept iterating on the same ideas, so the nods, echoes and rhymes never stopped with him. ROTJ gave another Deathstar. Say what you like about JJ, but there is no better imitator than George on his own movies.
