It looks like from the concept art that Vader has a role in Episode VII... As an obsession of some sort for friends or foes.

Why Vader has that may be interesting to the plot of Episode VII?

I doubt andI made a thread full of humor speculating about it, that the Grave Robber is merely an artifact collector... Or a Star Wars fan turned evil by collecting all toys and memorabilia.

    So here are some ideas:

    - Someone wants to become Vader. But why? An old apprentice we might discover in Rebels? A member of Skywalker's family?
    - Someone who wants to avenge a close friend or family member that got killed by Vader...by going after Vader's lineage.
    - Someone who tries to find Skywalker's DNA to clone him/ get Midicholorian...blabla maybe Plagueis' essence.
    - a real nostalgic of the good old galactic Empire.

Any idea? What could be the motivation? Why going after Vader's helmet?

In all seriousness, the idea that Vader could return in Episode VII was met with nothing but incredulity, skepticism and laughter. On the face of it this is a laughable idea. However, in light of all the concept art leaks and tips being dropped from within the mystery box what once was laughable might be true, from a certain point of view.

    Recall these article from 2012 & 2013:

    http://www.express.co.uk/dayandnight/357610/Darth-Vader-to-be-resurrected

    http://screenrant.com/star-wars-episode-7-darth-vader/

So it seems that Vader will be in Episode VII in terms of being the center of obsession by the grave robber as you suggested. But my theory is that this isn't just some obsessed Vader fanboy but a being who is strong in the Force who is studying the Sith and teaching himself the ways of the Dark Side etc...

I believe Vader will be back, 100%. He's too iconic for Disney to leave him on the shelf. I just hope they've figured out a way to do it without it feeling contrived.

I think you, and those who agree, may be right. BUT the caveat being that it IS NOT the Anakin Skywalker Vader but a poseur or a wannabe. (Aside from the symbolic martyr.)

I'm sure Disney will take advantage of this, as you said. I see Vader making an appearance and playing small, but important, roles in the spin off movies. As for EP7 I suspect that there will be small tie ins to Vader and/or the Emporer for story continuity but the story will move forward with new characters.

That is presuming, of course, that someone was actually going after his helmet in the first place... All we know is that someone has found his helmet, if you get what I mean...

I think Vader will have relevance in inspiring the grave robber in some way.

However, I think also that because we saw Anakin as a Jedi force ghost at the end of ROTJ when he appeared to Luke, it would be almost impossible to resurrect him as Vader. He had been saved and had returned to the force, finished I feel.

    Just my thoughts..

Who knew that Vader died at the Battle of Endor? Do the Imperials think he's alive? He hasn't been seen since the destruction of the second Death Star. How would the galaxy perceive him if he returned, or someone started wearing his helmet? Would they think he returned to lead the Imperial remnant against the Galactic Alliance? Would they think he returned as a ghost that roams the galaxy and that can't be killed? Could one of his grandchildren want to change Vader's image throughout the galaxy, from villain to hero, knowing that there was good in him and that he never had the opportunity for the galaxy to know that he destroyed the Emperor. Only Luke knew that and whoever he told, Leia, her children, or his children. Vader redeemed himself but the galaxy still fears his name and his image.

I think the issue here is that we the audience know! This would just be taking too much liberty. If he was to return i think it could be as a redeemed Jedi only.

I think it's Luke.. I think the years after RotJ went bad, he got beat up some... got taken prisoner for a time... now he is battered, beaten... a few more augmented parts than before...

There is the scene in RotJ where he cuts of Vader's hand, and sees the cybernetic limb... and looks at his own hand. I think the more damage life inflicts on him, the more the galaxy pushes and he does more bad things in the name of good... the more he looks at his father and says, "There but for the grace of God go I"

As all children do when they come of age, he is starting to realize that some of the things his father did, and why he did them, are starting to make sense...

Some derivation of Vader's apprentice, Lumiya (Sigourney Weaver? Christie?) is the cyborg seeking revenge for her former master and herself against Luke. Her character kind of fits - cybernetic arm, jaw, etc - helps to turn Jacen Solo to the dark side ( some form of Drivers character).....

Speaking of being obsessed with Vader... I thought the rumors of him actually making a comeback had long since died down, but a new post on kpopstarz just days ago (quoting one from express) claims he will "rise from the ashes"

I believe it. A big chunk of that $4.5 billion dollar franchise value is thanks to Star Wars having the most iconic cinematic villain of all time. To not use him would be like burning money.

The question is: Can they do it in a way that makes sense?

I think Vader (the legend, not the person) will play an important role... but in that statement, people may have taken it to mean he will be coming back in person
