SPECULATION Official Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed) Discussion

I have a feeling that Bodhi Rook is going to be a badass

 

Will he be as bad### as this guy ?

Bodhi looks like he'll be fine, but to be honest of all the characters revealed so far he's the one I'm least excited for. This could change of course since we don't know that much about him, but he seems kinda bland to me (probably still a badass though ).

 

I get a River Phoenix in Sneakers vibe from this character.

The Brain on the team that won't likely have a very big role, but will do some cool thing at a crucial moment and get a great line or two of dialogue that makes us cheer him and our heroes on.

 

The newest EW interview with Riz Ahmed on Bodhi Rook make up for quite an interesting character in my humble opinion:

He is…

• an inhabitants of the occupied territory of Jedha
  
• was conscripted to serve as a pilot for the Empire but defects to join the growing Rebellion
  
• has a prickly, neurotic personality.
  
• Not a born soldier but a cargo pilot working for the Empire to keep Palpatines forces supplied, doing his job, getting on with it. (In our world Bodhi would be a long-distance truck driver)
  
• not removing the imperial patch on his flight gear to show where he’s coming from

Makes for a great supporting character, which is all Ahmed will probably be. Doesn't mean he won't have significance, as already stated. I mean, Vader only appears at the end of RoTS, in the look we all know him as. BUT, when his mask is suctioned on, wasn't that enough? Wasn't that almost overwhelming, and breathtaking. I want and believe that's what Bodhi's sacrificial death will be like, if he does die. If not, prepare for a man who has never flown this crazily but has found sheer thrill and life from it!
