I guess so, but I've seen some movies where white are in martial arts movies as leads..

1.Chuck Norris movies most of them from 1970s to I guess present
2.Ralph mahcio however its spelt, and not the rip-off will smiths son remake
3.The American ninja dude
4.Umm can't think of the guy from timecop/bloodsport off hand
5.Guess Patrick swaze has done a couple martial art roles
6.Keanu reeves in the matrix
7.Hugo weaving also matrix

So 7 I can think of ...Seems kinda sad when I can think of is 7 white actors done some martial roles.

Even sadder when you can even think of only one for black actor...

 

I think, that, it would be fine if done as a part of the story but not be forced due to things such as ethnicity and such.

 

but it goes back to that movie with Danziel was. as a blind guy in post apocalypse and he has the bible which the bad guy wants.... my point is that danziel fights 5-6 men and hes blind. So Yens character is blind and fights 4-5 storm troopers so some force must be at work.

 

First who/what is Danziel? They need some further explanation on that hopefully some of which we will get at this year's Celebration...

Blind guys fighting and winning against lots of bad guys is a very classic in the martial arts movie history.

In these stories, you don’t need the force to be an effective blind warrior, just your skills mentally as well as physical.

So here goes the theory of the spiritual warrior without any force power or connection to the Jedi completely out of the window…

But maybe then he’s associated in some way to Lor San Tekka and the then secret organization of the Church of the Force.

 

The Rogue One writer, Gary Whitta, wrote a bad ass blind warrior in The Book of Eli.
So no doubt that Yen's character will kick ass in this film.

 

I, for once, fully embrace a spiritual warrior without an ounce of the Force. Mind over matter can be done without the Force, kthxb. Let this guy kick ass on his own.

 

That's exactly what I was thinking, he will probably show us the side of the Galaxy that is non-existent in the OT, the folks who believe in the Jedi and the Force but are not Jedi themselves. A layperson, sort of.

 

Thinking about it, that would be an interesting path to follow, so much to explore!

An underground church of the force, hiding force sensitive individuals and Jedi relicts from the inquisitors and the Empire. With initiated beings like Chirrut kicking ass, while the underground leaders like Lor San Tekka engage in hide and seek games with the ruling regime while trying to secretly convert new followers to believe in the Light ide of the force and the old Jedi teachings. Not unlike the early Christian society in ancient Rome.

And with the destruction of the first Death Star, a new savior emerges.

But I belief the Storygroup is not yet heading in that direction.

 

Maybe he's a ex royal guard which could mean the person kneeling in the room with those guards is with the rebel alliance and he got them in .

 

Yep those stormtroopers takedowns in the first trailer sure gives us a taste of what's to come from Donnie.
