Worst casting in a SW film ever. Solo film ruined.

 

Let's be honest here, this woman can't act. She's beautiful, but that's all she can bring to any movie she's in. Watching her act along truly gifted actors in Game of Thrones is cringe worthy, and she's the reason why I assumed that the last Terminator will fail. And it did. Choosing an actress like Emilia Clarke is an obvious sign that you're more interested in selling a movie than its actual quality. So now I wonder at what point they started thinking that a Han Solo movie won't sell well enough without the mother of dragons here. Is a good story that hard to write? I might be wrong, I'm biased anyway, I don't like Daenerys. But then again, maybe I would if I wouldn't cringe each time I hear her droning about her right to rule with a dead voice and a dead look in her eyes.

 

Spot on. She just can't act. Nothing more to say on the matter really. What little hope I had for this pointless Solo spin-off has now been dashed.

 

I hope she is a person from his childhood.

 

Also helps that the casting director for TFA and other SW projects is the same casting director for GOT (Nina Gold).

I'm going to keep it simple. I'm excited, and her role should be fun and interesting.

 

I really hope that she does a better job in this than any movie she has done to date.
Granted, the foundation of this movie is better than any previous movie with a better director(s) so...

 

Star Wars should stick to casting unknowns or little knowns in the films because "famous" actors and actresses carry the weight of their own well-known personalities and their other characters. It interferes with the belief system of a Star Wars character. Plus, unknowns are cheaper!

 

I hope she isn't anyone's romantic interest but if she is, here is my order of preference-
Mala (romance for Chewie)
A canon version of Tendra Risant (romance for Lando)
The Princess of Boz Pity who Han romanced and scammed (mentioned in SW #10, I think)

Mala is Chewie's wife in canon. Han mentions her in ROTJ though the rest of her story is now part of the EU.

This wasn't a poll option (other than 'other'), but any chance they changed it to a sister? (The trades tried to make like it seem like only minority actresses were up for the role.)

As Jyn Erso's family had a role to play in Rogue One, what role can family play in the Han Solo movie?



Else the list of options include villainness, unrelated politician, romantic interest, etc. (I like the villain option and most boring and aggravating option is Leia romantic interest retread.)

The recent Leia: Princess of Alderaan novel gave 16 year old Leia a new love interest with a young man named Kier. Leia didn't have any siblings (besides secretly Luke who was far away toiling away on Tatooine).

Clarke's character's name is rumored to be Kura or Kira.

And what will Clarke's accent be?

 

Somehow I doubt they'll make her a love interest: it's almost blasphemy, given the Han-Leia romance.

Maybe it's just me. I don't like to think of Han as a womanizer in general: he isn't so much 'putting the moves' on Leia in ESB as just really falling in love with her and trying to win her, as I see it. If we saw Han as a womanizer, it would diminish the emotional authenticity of those scenes for me.

Of course, I suppose Han could have a romance without being a womanizer. But in my mind, he belongs to Leia--even before he ever met her!!
