You dare to compare Kylo Ren with CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow (don't forget the captain)?

 

Haha I love them both.

 

He might get redeemed its the level of certainty and the singularity of interpretation that invites counter speculation.

 

If Kylo is not redeemed, then I am not sure what they were going for in TFA. He was not shown in a flattering light at all if he was meant to be a permanent villain. He is a foolish, emotional mess at the end of the film (like he called himself as Ben ironically) and in shock over both what he did to Han and how it did not make him stronger.

 

Fist go watch Gladiator. In particular the "Am I not merciful" scene. Kylo could be a great villain inbthe same veign as Emperor Comodus.

Next. Imagine late in act 1 of TLJ or early act 2 him pulling one oh his temper tantrums on Snoke's smug face. Then he turns and the 6 onrushing to late Pretorian Guard who he struggled with in practice rush to kill him but instead they fly back over ledges and into walls. And Kylo force grabs turns and pulls Hux in for a close up screams at him daring him to do something other than follow his orders.

 

He could be great, yes, but how TFA ended was not convincing me that's what they planned. I am curious if Han haunting him in TLJ will make it worse or better.

 

Is Han supposed to haunt him? Was that leaked somewhere or just speculation? Just curious.

 

Rian said it in the EW article. Not a ghost, but he will always be there in his mind. Adam also just did an interview that is strongly hinting at redemption.

 

Well, JJ did say Kylo Ren is a villain in the making. So, everything is possible. All villains start from the beginning.

I like that.

I hope we hear Han's voice or something like that. A cool idea would be to reuse a scene from the PT. => Anakin waking up from a nightmare.

 

Hmmm... in the making. Two ways I see it. Kylo will be a worse villain or we are watching him try and fail badly at it.

That's what I'm hoping for. One of the first things that came to mind was sound clips from TFA that haunt him when I read that article.

 

While I don't see it happening, it still feels weird to refer to it as redemption when I personally don't feel like we, the audience, collectively hate him at this point. Maybe we're talking redemption in terms of righting wrongs... Vader's will always seem more like redemption because we don't meet him during his transformation, we meet him in his full unwavering darkness and he is thoroughly unlikeable. Without seeing Kylo wipe out the Jedi students, we just see a kid that made some bad decisions (albeit one that kills of his father).

 

You'd be surprised how much of the GA wants him evil or dead, and Disney is also promoting him to be very dark too. Adam is not aware of us most likely, and knows more of the ones who still dislike him for killing Han.

I think we will see that scene.

we know Johnson is well aware of how the fanbase feels about Kylo Ren.
given his over superfan status, it will be really interesting to see what he thinks will be the most satisfying trajectory for our lost OT son.

it'll be hilarious on Force Friday to see what other silly things he says. : D

i'm hoping that what's unexpected is about degrees rather than the event itself (which honestly, ought to be a foregone conclusion by now).
