Official Episode VIII - Kylo Ren Discussion Thread

First of all Kylo isn't dark, he struggles between dark and light.

 

I swear if I see one more article calling him a Sith I will lose it...

 

This one is the first "evil looking" Kylo Ren toy packaging.

"What would Snoke look like as a car?" Now we know it...

 

I doubt most of what he says will be in the movie, but a legit source mentioned something he says to Rey that upsets Luke, so maybe he is still trying to get her to join him and says that. Other then that it's just him talking to the person shaking him probably lol

Who doesn't love Kylo? He's a sweet young kid with a few problems.

Well, now he's gone too far.

 

I think I have unraveled the mystery of Kylo Ren's broken mask.

Ren is training against Snoke's guard with his helmet put on. This training is extreme. The guards don't let go of swinging at Ren and he gets pushed back over and over again. This method of training shall enrage Kylo, Snoke wants Ren to burst with anger because of his failure. He is failing yet again. First he loses against this scavenger girl and now he can't keep up with these guards.
One of the guards hits Ren's mask at full power and this happens:

Doesn't that look like something hit him right on his head? Something like a staff?

After that he smashes his mask because he's full of rage.

EDIT: Or maybe he stops with his training and rushes off as soon as he has been hit on the mask. On his way back to his chamber he breaks his helmet completely.

 

That's an interesting observation! I always assumed the mask got damaged during the crash landing on Ahch-to. I like your idea better.

 

Also very possible.

BTW Kylo Ren crash landing. Is it possible that Ren fights against Poe? In the new BF2 trailer we can see Poe's vs Ren's ship:

i don't know why, but seeing all those helmets still makes me think the helmet is crushed off of his head by the Force after his confrontation with Snoke (early on in the film). but this is probably because i'm old and a sequence of helmets like that would have existed to create a stop-motion effect. now i would imagine they would do it with cgi, but for some reason i can't help thinking they would have still created practical models to build from.
