That's fair. And we're all in the same boat. But it's not the kind of thing that's thread-worthy in and of itself. You could have also expanded and provided context to what your intent was in your opening post. Just my 2 cents. Welcome aboard.

 

Sounds like Jason Ward from MakingStarwars knows, I just asked him earlier, but his source will not allow him to say. Man I wish I had his sources, they provide the biggest leaks out there.

 

My sources will also not allow me to say. But that may have more to do with the fact that they're non-existent than anything else.

I do miss the days when sources just dumped what they knew and didn't play games...

 

Way too much money to be made nowadays with clickbait stories that generate traffic. Why risk being cutoff from a source just because a vocal minority is upset you don't spill the beans? Look at what MSW does... points for being creative... rather than post the artwork, he writes about it in great detail... so us fans still get something, and he still gets trafiic, and his source isn't pissed. Win-win-win.

But I can see how it bothers some people. That's why I think it's very important to strike a very approachable and friendly tone in writing style. If you're not going to give up what you know, at least make sure you're not coming across like an arrogant pissant with us lessers waiting for your crumbs. Because if site traffic nosedives, there goes mr.knowitall's revenue and soapbox.

Personally I can't wait until we find out whose trusted source was actually spreading disinformation and perpetrating Mystery Box nonsense. That will be a fun read with a familiar cast of characters.

 

I just see this "protecting a source" thing as a bit of a smokescreen.
If I knew Character A's name was XYZ, then nobody is going to lose their job over that leaking, I can guarantee it. Playing the whole "I know, but I can't tell you" game is a little bit silly to be honest...

The time to steal stuff during production has passed. The shoot has wrapped. So people somewhere in the food chain have just been sitting on stuff and slipping it out as fits their agenda. Which is fine, I don't blame them. But people are bound to get a bit frustrated from time to time at moments when it becomes clear people are playing games, to a degree.

Seems we are in a new phase now - the leakers are all just cross-referencing what they've got so far with each other to wring as much out of it as they can, before more stuff filters down from people linked to post-production, marketing, the novelisation etc...

At least that's how I see it, anyhoo...

Matter of fact, these leakers grow less and less valuable by the day... NOW IS YOUR TIME GUYS!! DO IT!

Nope... no no no no no... you are asking for a reason, leading me to think you have a theory, and you are trying to see if Boyega fits it, and you suspect, but for some reason the unknown codename may be the string that ties it together for you... that or your curiosity is more intensive than a cat...
