Huh? Why would not having kids mean the romance would be pointless? Secondly, this is Star Wars - gay people can already adopt/have a surrogate in the REAL WORLD.

I'm utterly baffled by your point and I'm not even a Poe/Finn shipper.

People don't get into relationships just to reproduce. Besides, there are many heterosexual pairs that don't have children because they don't want to. Am I one of such people? No, I want to have kids, but reducing any relationship just to procreation is wrong.

PS. I am strongly against Reylo.

I don't understand why people ship a fin pole romance when fin never acted gay so I don't know where they get fin being gay from but it's not seen on film but people act as if it's so much chemistry between them but you can't name Me one time Finn acted like a homosexual

I don't like it mostly because it's being pushed mainly as a way to keep Finn away from Rey and as has been stated many times already, has no basis in canon. Finn is clearly shown to be interested in Rey. He has not once shown even a hint of romantic interest in Poe. It's as baseless a ship as Reylo. It's quite telling that Rey shows as much romantic interest in Kylo as Finn shows in Poe, which is none.

Reylo is not going to happen. The relationship that will determine this trilogy is Rey and Finn. As Ridley said herself. It's about the new family she makes going forward. How does she move forward as a family with a man who is killing his? The bond she made with Finn is solid, and anytning that deals with some force connection she has with Kylo doesn't hold a candle to what those two established in TFA.

LOL I am surprised this is a topic. John Boyega has been hanging out with Mark Hamill who is the (jedi) master of trolling fans. This has as much relevance as the "story" this week about Luke being a darksider Hamill floated that has been making the rounds. Do you remember the birthday message Mark sent him on twitter implying Finn was his son? Same ilk. John is feeding fan theories for fun nothing more nothing less.

A certain loud segment which obviously is only concerned about what they want. Regardless of context. This country has a terrible history towards black men even being on the same side of the street as a white woman, and to suggest a black man play a gay character while ignoring that history is racist. The LGBT have power, but a lack of compassion for others won't get them very far. Shaming has an expiration date.

I wouldn't buy Finn as gay, the way he acted in certain scenes with Rey definitely showed he was smitten by her. Poe on the other hand can be if they want since he is kinda a blank canvas since he was supposed to die in TFA. I really can't see Reylo actually happening, they can try and have Kylo redeem himself but it will never be enough to buy him as a love interest, at best he can be presented as an anti-hero of sorts. Finn/Rey seems like the safe route to go and the one most plausible in regards to the story and how the characters were in TFA. Does there even have to be a love story? I'd honestly wouldn't care if they didn't even touch any romance stuff and saved any of that stuff for any extra material like books, comics, or animated series.

Can we keep all this shipping nonsense out of here please? Whether that be Finn/Rey, Finn/Poe, Rey/Kylo or even Finn/Rose.

All of it is abominable and the obsession with the Romance angle threatens to ruin my Star Wars experience, please think of me.

Yeah, unless it's specifically related or about Finn, it's a little too much.

First of all you kind of prove my point. My post did not just call out white men specifically, it called out all sorts of other folks too. But you apparently were fixated on white men. That seems pretty defensive.

Secondly, I want to make it clear that I wasn’t accusing every person who were against a Rey/Finn relationship as being bigoted. A lot of people who aren’t influenced by racist leanings or years of accumulated racial beliefs stored in their subconscious, could walk away not caring for such a pairing for a variety of reasons. I was instead responding to an opinion in a post that people were propping up the unlikely coupling of Finn and Poe because they were adamantly against the idea of Finn and Rey. Therefore I only addressed the folks who thought in those ways. There was no need to call out folks whose opinion on the matter was not influenced by such prejudices.

Next, as you are aware of, I did not claim all white men held certain beliefs. But "lots" of white men? Hell, yes. I'll stand by that line. Lots don't have to mean a vast majority or even a majority. It simply means a large number. It is like me saying "lots of people don't like baseball". Now I didn't conduct a study to provide me data supporting this proclamation, but my accumulative years on Earth, the experience that comes with those years, the people I have interacted with during that time, the comments and opinions I have seen on TV, heard in passing and during conversations, heard on the radio, read in newspapers, read on message boards and on social media, leads me to confidently conclude that, yes, a lot of people do not like baseball. That lot may not represent a majority obviously, but it could still nonetheless mean hundreds of thousands or millions. Would my assumption be based upon a limited sampling? No doubt. But we make assessments every hour of every day based upon limited samplings as a result of our inability to have access to the thoughts and experiences of everyone at any time. My arrival at my opinion regarding people's attitudes towards Finn and Rey happened in a similar fashion.

Ask yourself if you have seen many examples of mainstream Hollywood films in which prominent black male and white female characters are paired romantically or even just hook up for sex onscreen. Granted interracial relationships are going to naturally be much more rare on screen than those of people of the same race, but even among the IR pairings we do get, those involving white women and black men are a scarcity. This is despite the presence of huge black male box office stars over the last few decades like Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Wesley Snipes, Will Smith, etc. "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" is still the most prominent mainstream major studio motion picture with a black male/white female couple in its center but even that film 1)came out a million years ago and 2) was more about the white parents' reaction to the relationship than it was about the relationship itself. When the movie 'Focus" came out a couple of years ago starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie I came across one article which proclaimed that the pairing of black men and white women onscreen is still one of Hollywood's last taboos. How could something be a taboo if it is more commonly accepted and represented? And why is it such a taboo? And don't misunderstand me. This is not about preference and what people like to see. This is about something being so forbidden and ostracized that it goes practically unseen in the first place, that it is avoided for the most part at all costs. A decade ago Eva Mendes, after playing the love interest of Denzel and Will, ripped the lid off by pointing out that Hollywood execs cast her in these roles because they were uncomfortable with the idea of white actresses being cast alongside Denzel and Will. So….why was Hollywood uncomfortable with this? And who runs Hollywood? Well, the last question I can provide an answer in which there is no debate. White males. Both historically and in the past the vast majority of executives, studio heads, writers, producers and directors working in Hollywood films have been white men. And if Hollywood is uncomfortable with something that means the white men running Hollywood are uncomfortable with something.

Now are those white males speaking for Hollywood or society (let’s say American society) in general? Could be either one. But most likely it is both. You can’t separate those gentlemen from the society they work in and most likely grew up in as well. Maybe you aren’t aware of American history but the anti-miscegenation laws that sprung up pre Civil War and lasted until the 1960s/1970s was pretty much about white men’s fear of sex between black men and white women. Sure white society wasn’t all that keen about white guys mating with non-white women, but it managed to look the other way when those situations occurred. However any rumor, hint, accusation , or actual occurrence of black males “defiling” white women could lead to the killing of black men, the burning and destruction of black homes and the exile of an entire black communities from towns. Have we moved far beyond that in this day and age. Yes, for the most part. But some attitudes still linger in different forms, including in our art. They linger in society in general.

This possibly helps explains why I have come across a bunch of angry reactions on social media, message boards and YouTube videos, regarding the idea of Finn and Rey being paired. Some guys act as if they are personally affronted by the idea. You see a lot of responses in which they accuse the consideration of it as an agenda. The word agenda is commonly used online, often by white males who think they are being besieged with images of black guys and white gals everywhere they look on screen when in reality it is, in case of films at least, just the opposite. Funny how I wasn’t coming across accusations of such agendas from those types for the recent Spiderman film in which there are various portrayed relationships between white males and black females. Wouldn’t that be a more true example of agenda based storytelling/casting considering there were multiple examples? And yet outside of some early concerns that TPTB had done race-bending casting for the character of Mary Jane, the fanboys online had less to say about the “race mixing” that DID occur in Spiderman than they had for the possibility of Rey and Finn hooking up that had yet to occur in this SW trilogy.

So, yeah, a person can be a bigot who is against gay pairings but still be more comfortable with the idea of that than he/she would be of Finn and Rey as a couple. In our real world aren’t there bigots or people influenced by prejudice of all races who could still be more accepting of a gay couple in their community (particularly if a family member is involved) than they would be of a person of another race or a mixed race couple? So it all comes down to how an individual may prioritize their prejudices. What do they consider most threatening to them, which is more an affront to their ego, which do they find more tolerable, which one are they more exposed to, etc? And for millions of people in this world (which would mean “lots") the notion of Finn and Poe, while not ideal, may be easier to accept than the alternative of Rey and Finn. There’s nothing “tinfoil” about this sad reality.

Sorry to those who feel this is sidetracking things a bit but I felt it was necessary to provide some context to why a pairing of Rey and Finn would be a kind of milestone even in 2017 if their pairing did occur. I'm not advocating for or against it. I have remained consistent in my posting that it is not at the top of my list of things concerning the handling of Finn. But if it happens then I'll be fine with it. And when people act as if there has been no historical pushback against such pairings and come across willfully ignorant of the notion that plenty of folks have a negative reaction to the idea of it not because of story concerns but because of their own discomfort, I feel I have to call that out and add some perspective.
    --- Double Post Merged, Oct 22, 2017, Original Post Date: Oct 22, 2017 ---
Yes, but this conversation is more than about who romances who. That's superficial. This is a continuing discussion about how Finn is boxed in as a character in many people's mind based upon their expectations of what he should be, should be able to do, his importance, etc. Only this time the focus is on the restriction of his his romantic options by members of the fanbase (not anyone on this board necessarily) who would prefer to dismiss the possibility that Rey could be an option.

They want to leave him out of the force story. They want to leave him out of anything where he can have an influence on Rey. Hence all this Kylo is coming back to the light. Kylo is going down a darker path. Many weren't satisfied with Anakin's change to Vader. The change was too jarring. They want to show the conflict within that person, but they don't have intentions of making him the good guy.

What pisses me off are all the channels dedicated to Star Wars, and they are all the same in their thinking. They are useless, and refuse to talk about anything in depth except for a few white characters. That's not interesting. That's boring.

Immune to Mind Tricks, Force Pushes, and Sith Lightning?

    *Thinks*

I don't know that would be a really interesting angle that hasn't been explored before. A person that would be impervious to any offensive attack made via the Force? That'd be a whole new thing and I could get into that. Not sure what these people would be called, perhaps Force Resistant? Or maybe Force Exempt? Force Inert? Who knows, but it would be really interesting to see a Force User try to use the Force against someone and not have it work.

It's also interesting that when Kylo and Finn fought, Kylo never tried to use the Force against him. It was just a sword fight.

If Finn was Force Exempt, it would potentially give him a chance to exist on the Front Stage and interact in the Force Plot, he would just have to be a competent swordsman and that's something he could learn (and probably quickly).

Yeah it will be original. FO 's conditionning seemed to no really worked on him. I don't remember exactly, but did he report to the reconditionning or did he escape before?

I just checked, he reported , he was evaluated and sent to reconditioning. So somewhere between his evalution and being sent to reconditioning he manages to escape, and nobody noticed. How could it happened?

Kylo noticed him on jakku, probably for not firing like every other stormtroopers but maybe he didn't noticed a rebel streak because he read nothing, or sense nothing from Finn. So he didn't think Finn had a second though about killing innocent people and he let go?

In the star wars universe''s comic number 3, don't know if the comics is canon or not. Kylo sensed the alien pink creature but not Finn ,just around and later Finn duped Kylo ren with holding phasma 's mask. Finn wondered how the trick could have worked since it was not possible a such trick could not have worked. jHe said to himself. How kylo didn't sense he didn't talk to phasma, but an empty mask held by finn? But that's the comics...Maybe it's not canon. just a parody.

Kylo didn't use the force with Finn probably because he thought , it wasn't necessary. But still , he was so angry after Finn, calling him a traitor. The whole scene was strange. Or did he block kylo's ren without kylo not being aware or I don't know, made kylo ren thinks he didn't the force? But at the same time Why kylo cared so much? Why he bothered to toy with Finn when he was hurt and could have so easily got his grand pa 's lightsaber. He never hesisitated to use the force with Rey , when he didn't even know she was force senstive. When he captured her.

kylo ren's always used the force, in jakku he used it. too When he faced finn. He just didn't. Maybe he wanted to entertain himself and wasted his time.

I think Kylo just wanted to kill him and just didn't use the force against him. Interestingly enough, he used the force against Poe, Rey and a laser stop, but never against Finn. Maybe in 8 he will.
