its really sad... I just hope Boyega's career continues and flourishes like Ford's career... thousands of people just rolled their eyes  anyway, I hope his role in Star Wars propels his career, at least one good thing will come out of this for him, for fans of Finn not so much...

It really has nothing to do with Finn being FS or a Jedi. It's him being a relevant character that bothers them. They believe if Finn is cast aside they don't have to worry about who is the hero in this trilogy. So far it hasn't been Rey, and if Lucas films were smart I wouldn't try to make her one now. In my opinion it is too late. The focus has been on how powerful she is. Stay there. Every idea on the internet attempts to hype up every other character except Finn. There are more theories about dead characters than there are about him for Episode IX. Even if Finn truly shows he is the hero and is force sensitive (which he should be) people will still try to find a way to not bring up his name. It has nothing to do with him being FS. His presence in the film makes people uncomfortable.

I still get the Han Solo vibe from Finn. It was dead at work on Wednesday so we queued up The Last Jedi at work. I work in IT so most of us are Star Wars fans and one of the guys remarked about Finn had the Han Solo vibe going. Keep in mind, after Han Solo finds Luke on Hoth his role is very much limited for the rest of the trilogy and we all still love Han Solo.

I think he will do better than Daisy Ridley, she will get type cast like Mark Hamil did, but he was type cast from playing one the best well known modern times Hero in America pop culture. Daisy will be type cast as Star Wars Mary Sue, so no matter what movie you see her it you say Rey the May Sue, which have a negative affect.

John is doing better than her for now, Daisy might just be getting paid more money than him. Oscar already have a good acting career it might boast more from Star Wars.

You can count on maybe two hands the number of females that have long careers in Hollywood. I can only think of two who were child actresses that are still relevant today. (Jodie Foster and Diane Lane). Women have a real short time to display what they can do before they are cast aside, and only a few are given anything that's not the typical stereotype. The writing and directing for TLJ was so bad it didn't help Daisy's chances. Boyega is already known for his acting ability. Him standing out in other films is the reason he got this opportunity. It's Daisy who has to be more concerned.

Daisy is not only a good actress but also has one of those very elegant physiques like Nicole Kidman and Ciara Knightly... I can see her doing a fair amount of period pieces. She will always have work in England.

Sorry to wander off topic, but this might be the new standard in silly hyperbole. The writing in the movie is going to hurt Daisy future career? Seems like if it were as bad as you say it would really be devastating to Rian Johnson's career, but there was a bidding war for his next project and it has one of the best assemble cast for 2019. I guess other actors want their careers ruined as well.
My only question for Daisy will be able differentiate herself. She reminds me a lot of Keira Knightley and that might be a difficult similarity to shake.

I think they look very alike too... but I suppose it all depends on how emblematic the characters they play are. Rey is a pretty distinctive role for Daisy and Cecilia's in Atonement is also pretty unique for Keira. I suppose only time will tell.

Ridley will be typecast (when SW is your first movie that tends to happen) but ultimately she'll be fine (and I am happy for it). I don't think anyone wants to see Daisey's career flounder because of a screen play she didn't write or direct.

I am reasonably confident we won't see Rian Johnson helm another SW movie ever (and I am happy for it). I don't know why Rian Johnson is a hill so many of you all are willing to die on, but more power to you. TLJ was atrocious. His story arc for Finn, mind numbing in it's banality, and inconsequential to the core. Boyega will be fine, but the character Finn (and frankly the Trilogy) deserved better.

Well, his trilogy still has a green light (whether you like it or not) but I guess we'll find out in 2019. There isn't enough evidence to say other wise.

What a very strange and silly thing to say.
I wouldn't say it's green lit until we hear more. I have no doubt it's still in the very early stages of pre-production. As we know Lucasfilm has made changes. Although, they haven't stopped anything they've announced yet. Rian Johnson has proven he can work with Lucasfilm, deliver a film on time/on budget, and create a great movie. So far only him and JJ have been able to do that with the Disney Star Wars films.

They haven't canceled it either. I firmly believe that we haven't heard anything about it because there is literally nothing more to say about it that we already know. I'm positive that we'll hear more about his trilogy once he's done with Knives Out. I wouldn't be surprised if media ask him about it during that movie's promotional run.

A Comment and discussion from one of vidoes related to that video above.
"Only true interesting thing about Finn for 9 which we have to see is Finn face Kylo again! See I have a theory, Finn is force sensitive and there are many indicators, most of the Finn hatters dont see it. Prince you failed also to talk about the hints of Finn force sensitively and maybe become a Jedi that RJ did in 8. You list all the great ones already from TFA. Let list some of them from 8, before mention first in 7 when Finn pick up the lightsaber and fought 9s I believe outside of Maz's castle. He killed the first trooper he seen with sticking it in his chest. Then he fought a storm troopers and lost the fight and Han saved him. Then next time Finn fights he fights Kylo Ren loses but he gets a hit off of Kylo. Now when Rey had her force vision, right after that the Hozion system was destroyed and we can see Finn turning and looking up and you can see from his head movement the sound of them screaming leaves his body some what shaking. Rey had her vision and right before Finn had his small connection with the force by hearing the screams. Right after Finn fights with the light saber kills the first Storm trooper with it by putting it in his chest. Then after he fights another storm trooper and lost . Odd...no, this is the force with Finn, because he lost to a storm trooper but gets a hit off Kylo Ren. Some criticize the Force Awakens from this point about Kylo Ren, Finn gets a hit off him, some say because Kylo was hurt. I say Finn, the force was with Finn he force sensitive but he is not like Rey. Every Jedi are not on the same level. Finn being force sensitive does not have to mean he going be powerful as Yoda or Obiwan. So when Finn fights Kylo he gets a hit its because the force is growing with him slowly . This why he lost to 9s but get a hit of Kylo who is much stronger than 9s, the force is growing with Finn. Next, it shows this in 8 Finn's first fight on Snoke's ship after it blew up, if you look well when Finn on the floor after BB8 blasted Phasma and her troopers. Finn is looking for the balton, if you notice well Finn can sense someone behind him without him looking and Rose tells Finn right after to look up. Once Finn grab this weapon the first trooper comes out Finn breaks his neck with one swipe, this showing the Force is with Finn and his fighting skills is getting better the force is growing and improving him slowly, when Finn hits him he is looking at Phasma to fight and the trooper was in his way and he took him out without a sweat. When Finn fights Phasma on screen it made to look as Finn was losing but in the novel of the Last Jedi it said Finn was fighting Phasma and notice the elevator lift and his goal was to move in that direction while fighting. Also this shows Finn's tactics for fighting got better and faster. He used it to take out Phasma real fast, people said the fight between him and Phasma was short it sure was but it also means he took her out real fast another hint he is force sensitive. The next one Finn touches the Jedi books on the Falcom trying to look for a blanket for Rose, while Rey looks at him. We dont know but assuming about her maybe she was looking at Finn with the force and this is why she smiled. Also right before Rey went to see Kylo Ren when she was on the Falcom she was short of words what to say to Finn, then Chewie took the words out her mouth. It sound like Chewie said to Rey as a Message for Finn sounds like " last hope" or Finn is the last Hope if Rey did not come back. Some say no where it say this not in the novel but RJ had BB8 noise sound like speaking . When DJ was on the ship with Finn said you stole this ship DJ said about him and BB8 we stole the ship and BB8 Beeped the sounds WE."

What was Chewie Message to Finn in the Last Jedi

Here a Some think she said she loves him or miss him, the comparison Between Rey and Luke with Finn and Leia from a scene in the return of the jedi and the Last jedi

I dont think it was about Finn she loves him or miss him, because she was lost of words because right before that she was force touching Kylo with his hand, and she fought Luke right after that knowing what happen, she left Luke to save Ben Solo. She read his mind and felt sorry for him. So when she was on the falcon she was lost of words what to say to Finn, because her heart in another direction now. When she on Snoke's ship look when she was on the elevator " I help you turn" she said it in a love way. So forsue she did not tell Chewie to tell Finn I love you. Aso if she loved Finn she would sense he was on Snoke's ship in the movie when she on the Elevator going up the same shot it shows Finn walking with Rose and DJ. Rey did not sense Finn either or she inlove with Kylo, or she not that in-tuned with the force as we think she should be. Because Luke Skywalker could sense in the Empire Strike Back Leia and Han and Chewie was in trouble and he was on another planet. Then when Kylo offer Rey to join, you see she was crying this is another sign she felt for Kylo and he broke her heart. They went Reylo way because it sells and this new trilogy really for women and a lot of women love Reylo concept. This is why they chuck Finn away from Rey in TLJ so Reylo can been seen on screen, so we don't fell sorry for Finn they gave him Rose.

I believe Chewie said to Rey as a lost of words because before these events when she got to Ackto many times she was asking Chewie did he get any news about Finn's condition about 2 times before the force fingering with Kylo. Either Chewie seen she was going to save Kylo, and when she was lost of words he could say as a message to tell Finn. If he sees Finn before her, which can mean her plan to save Kylo did not work, or she was capture, or it did work and she off with Ben Solo now to face Snoke, that to tell Finn let the force be with you, or if she did not make it back and was capture or killed " he is the new hope ". This is the same line Luke told Leia when he went to see Vader. This part on the falcon with Rey and Chewie about Finn mimics the Return of the Jedi, Luke telling Leia before he goes to see Vader he might not come back, if he does she is the last hope for the Rebels because he lets Leia know she is force sensitive and she a Skywalker like him and Vader is their father if he cant turn Vader and dies or is capture Leia the last hope. Rey could sense that she might not return, and RJ did not want people to either know Finn is force sensitive because they saving that to come out in 9 with it, and this is why no where it's saying what Chewie said in plain English for the readers and viewers. But only a hint he is or RJ just wanted to make this scene similar to the Return of the Jedi. Or it was a Joke on RJ end because whatever Chewie says to Finn he does not understand, but it still can be translated by 3cpo or any body who speaks Wooke which the Resistance does have. .

I think they are keeping Finn in the dark about being force sensitive because they want to sell Rey, and if that does not appear much to the Fans Female lead, then they come out with the back up plan and that is Finn is force sensitive to bring balance to this new trilogy to make something that sells to all the fans from all walks of life. Lucasfilm already put it in our mind with Finn with the lightsaber as a back up plan if Rey and Rey vs Kylo does not appear to the fans that much. They can come out and make Finn force Sensitive and even make it appearing by having Finn face Kylo again in 9, because Rey already beat Kylo two times and seeing her fight him again in 9 is not appearing to the fans who already seen her beat him in 7 and out smart him in 8 when he asked her to join him, she took the light sabeir out his hand, and when they passed out she woke up before.

Finn facing Kylo is like Luke facing Vader. First fight between Finn and Kylo was like when Luke fought Vader on Cloud City in TESB. Luke hit Vader in the shoulder like Finn hit Kylo in the shoulder, Vader injured Luke and Kylo injured Finn. Vader was Toying with Luke, so was Kylo toying with Finn. Finn had Luke's light saber he fought Vader with in the Empire Strikes Back on Cloud City. Luke was saved by a woman Leia after the battle, and Finn was saved by a woman after the battle Rey. Luke went in the sick bay on the Falcon so did Finn, Luke went into a Bacta Tank, Finn went into a Bacta Suit. They only difference between Luke and Finn is that Finn has no teacher, they made it sure in 8 he had no scenes with Luke Skywalker, even when Luke force projection walk into the Crait base , many of the Resistance Fighters Luke seen them, but Luke did not see Finn. Yoda told Obiwan in TESB when Luke was in his present that Luke had no patience, Maz tells herself when she looks at Finn with the force in the Novelization of the Last Jedi that Finn still did not have no patience. Yoda was force sensitive and read Luke and Maz is force sensitive and read Finn. When Finn was capture and went to see Phasma and Hut, Finn was dressed and walking with storm trooper just as in TROTJ when Luke was taking by the Storm troopers to Vader.

I can even see in 9 a foreshadow that Rey betrays Finn to save Kylo Ren might , as when in The Revenge of the Sith when Anakin cuts off Mace Windu hand to save Darth Sididous from him. We might see this between Rey, Finn and Kylo in 9.

Hey @RoyleRancor I'm responding to your post here in the Finn thread (because this is a debate about his arc). I think we have been around the mulberry bush a couple of times on this but I'm happy to go around one more time just to point out what I think is a fundamental flaw that many people make when defending Finn's TLJ arc. DJ does NOT represent what Finn wants to be. Finn wants nothing to do with the confrontation or the combatants in TFA. In TLJ DJ is willing and actively involved in both the confrontation and aiding its combatants (the exact opposite of what we already saw Finn wanted in TFA). What DJ is (by the time we meet him) is something Finn has already rejected in TFA. He was never in danger of becoming DJ... ever.

The details behind their respective lack of affiliation with the FO and the Resistance were completely different and accordingly, they behave differently, think differently, act differently and thus have divergent trajectories.

DJ is a neutral entity not tethered to fighting for either side but seeks to preserve himself above all else. That last part is what Finn wants. He doesn't want to be a fighter. But he will to preserve himself.

Initially Finn does want to be away from the confrontation. But my point is he couldn't be DJ because DJ procures this neutral existence by interacting as a 3rd party with both the combatant groups. At the start of TLJ, Finn isn't sold on the Resistance, but he has definitively shown he's done with the FO. He can't be what DJ is.

By playing the middle Finn thinks he can escape the conflict. DJ is proof he can't. Eventually you will have to be involved. He can stay "neutral" like DJ, which will involve bad things, or he can picks a side. We obviously know the FO isn't an option. DJ is basically showing Finn there is no way out of this war. His ideal neutrality is not a real viable option.
