if Anyone is interested in seeing Finn reincarnated check out that JJ Movie “overlord” the character named “bois”(boy) is sweaty scared panting buck eyed mess the whole film, who only is brave when fighting for or trying to save “them”. He gets the least action compared to “them” and he’s a soldier who can’t do his job because he’s not built for it. This movie is proof that JJ had no plans for Finn to grow past a stereotype. And I believe even if Finn is somewhat ok in ep 9 its only because everyone is on to Disney and there blatant racism towards black characters

That's why I have no hope for Finn or any Black male characters in Disney's Star Wars. The new look for Finn also looks corny he dress like a wanta be Lando mix with Han Solo from the Return of the Jedi.

    [IMG][IMG]

Finn can't even get his own look.

But Poe gets his own unique look you notice that?

Finn is the trilogy's LEADING MAN. This has been obvious from Day One, despite Rian Johnson's efforts to make his character irrelevant or push him in the background in "The Last Jedi". J.J. Abrams did not spend several months trying to convince Kathleen Kennedy to allow him to cast John Boyega in a supporting role.

All the characters of the ST don't really have their own looks... Rey looks like a mixture of Luke, Leia/Padme and Obi-Wan. Kylo looks like Vader. Poe looks like a mixture between Han and Luke etc.

He kinda looks like Nathan Drake. But I don't really know what's the problem with that. Costumes don't define characters. Action do!

In TFA the leading characters were Rey, Kylo and Finn. Nothing changed in TLJ, only Poe got a leading role too. I guess some people don't understand the difference between leading and supporting.

Yeah he looks lame. Just a bland jacket. The worst thing is that he doesn't even a have a name of his own.

He got named by Poe. He doesn't have any iconic items. He doesn't have the Force. Pathetic character all around.

No. Finn almost killed himself by flying kamikaze into a mega cannon at the end of TLJ. He did not do that for Rey. He's grown into a different man from that he was in TFA.

One thing is not liking the character development and story given to Finn, another is to say he has no character development and is a "sidekick". Facts are important. They prevent creating false narratives like that quoted above.
I don't know what sort of guys you two like, but, I don't know... Finn looks prrrrretty fine from where I'm standing.... ;)

Interesting how a positive can be turned into a negative, but alas...

Finn's naming is a very significant part of his character's development. It has the function of helping the ex-trooper find his humanity. We could say Finn has been "born" recently and therefore is still "becoming" a humanised adult. Iconic items and the Force are clearly not part of his arc, at least not yet. He is simply learning fundamental lessons. And no: Finn's far reaching arc makes him anything but pathetic... unless we have a problem with people being guided to become better...

Which was stupid. Rian and others are uncomfortable with Finn and Rey being so close, so they had to come up with the dumbest story line for him. They want to believe he would do that for anyone. Are people that insecure or stupid to believe that? No one is going to volunteer their life for anyone else. Pure wanting fantasy.

Finn is only there to help other people. Screw that. I have no interest and most people who were into Finn are not looking forward to him helping others before he helps himself.

Finn is a stereotype who is shown to be weak, but wants to put his life on the line for people that have shown to be more competent. Pure fantasy.

Finn's humanity has been ignored in this trilogy. He's been tasered twice by the alleged good guys. He's been called a selfish coward, because he doesn't want to help a bunch of strangers with their problems. Even though they have nothing to offer him. Where is this humanity you speak of? He has nothing of his own. He doesn't even have his own name. All he did was become a soldier with a face, but no real name for the Resistance, and you call that human progress?

I'm so sick of this stereotype, because it's based on pure fantasy. The Last Jedi will never be seen as a masterpiece. It's no surprise China got rid of TLJ in two weeks. The movie treats Asians so bad. Rose has no purpose in the movie except to keep Finn occupied. She has no story of her own, and she was only given the role to hold him back. I can see why some others turned the role down if this is what it was going to be. It's an insult not only to other women, but also other cultures that aren't westernized.

While ignoring that China doesn't like SW in general and TLJ has nothing to do with it. They were only introduced to the series only in 2015 and don't have a 40 year head start like the rest of the world. SW isn't ingrained into their culture like the rest of the world. Not a single SW movie even cracks their Top 50 gross movies. One reviewer called Luke & Leia ugly in ANH. You honestly going to use a Country that has The Fate of the Furious as their #1 Top grossing Hollywood movie and the Transformers: Age of Extinction as #4 top grossing Hollywood movie as benchmark on what a quality of a movie is? I'm a huge Fast and Furious fan and I can't wait to see Hobbs & Shaw but there is no way The Fate of the Furious is a better film TLJ. If you had a hard time suspending your disbelief in TLJ, I would hate for you to watch The Fate of the Furious or Furious 7 (which is #2 Top Grossing Hollywood movie in China). You may dislike RJ and TLJ and that's okay but the using China as a support point against TLJ isn't really strong one.

Not sure who you’re calling stupid here, Finn, RJ, the audience, me... maybe all of us... ?

You must know this name calling is not improving your argument, right?

Star Wars leading characters are supposed to become heroes... that’s what these films have always been about, people dealing with problems bigger than themselves, fighting against evil and making ultimate sacrifices, like Han and like Luke... or like Vader, dying to save his son. I thought you wanted Finn to be a hero amongst heroes... I must confess I’m a bit confused about what you want Finn to become... Han Solo has been portrayed many times as self serving, yet he always risked his life for the right cause... Aren’t we supposed to wish the same for Finn?

Mind you, episode 9 might set Finn up as the next Han or Lando, and become the rogue with a heart of gold in future movies, which would be perfect. Episode 8 turned him into a loyal rebel, but his arc in 9 could make him a more sceptical materialistic person... After all, he did like all that sparkle in Canto Bight... ;)

Why? I find this suggestion to be very unoriginal. Why can't Finn be Finn . . . but with his own character developments? Why does he have to be the next Han or Lando? Why? What is this demand for lack of originality?

Finn is THE leading male character. If you want to label Poe and Kylo Ren as leading characters, fine. But they are still secondary in compare to Finn. Just as Han Solo was the secondary leading male character in compare to Luke Skywalker.

Hey @CTrent29, a friendly reminder, if you would quote me correctly, then I would know I can response to something...

JJ: "One of the new relationships that we were focusing on was between KYLO REN and Rey."
JJ: "And we’re back in the forest with the story we really care about, the focus of the story which is Rey and REN"

    - TFA Audio Commentary

RJ: "Rey and KYLO are two halves of our protagonist."

I'm sorry, but Kylo is THE leading character of this trilogy. He was from the very beginning.

I want Finn to be his own man, and not what others want him to be. Was Finn given any choice to explore that before he had to choose the Resistance? I don't have a problem with him fighting with the Resistance. I have a problem with him going along with the Resistance. I want to know more about him, because it's more interesting than him joining the Resistance.
The fast and furious franchise is more entertaining than TLJ. The fast and the furious gives you cool characters. TLJ purposely held back characters we wanted to know more about, and made them look uncool. People spend good money to be entertained. You can stay home and watch any television sitcom that has a marriage in it to see men looking stupid or weak. Nobody wants to see that in a space movie. There is no guarantee China will ever embrace Star Wars, but it won't embrace it if you don't give them exciting Asian characters.

There hasn't been an interesting Asian character in Fast and Furious movies since Furious 6 and at the time TLJ of being in theaters Transformers: Age of Extinction was the Top Grossing movie in China a movie that was universally hated in the US and all across the internet. So you can accept Vin Diesel's character, surviving from a collapsing 4 story parking garage and Paul Walker's character's superman jump from a bus to a car but Leia flying in space and bombs being dropped from a bomber in space is unrealistic? Sorry man, I respect your opinions but I have a hard time taking you seriously. What Asian character is in the transformer movies and in Infinity War that is interesting? Japan doesn't seem to have any issues with the Asian characters and the actor that played Rose isn't even Chinese. She's Vietnamese.

Thankfully it’s not me but JJ, RJ, Kasdan and Terio who are writing these films lol. RJ already made Finn story interesting and unexpected even though, I admit, his story and arc felt somewhat rushed in TLJ and yes, a tad passive at times...

When I said a Lando or a Han I meant the fact that these characters fly “solo” and are to some extent independent from the rebel/resistance side and the empire/FO, but who, unlike DJ, feel morally more attached to the rebels... I did not mean turning Finn into a stock character, not at all.

I feel that the choice of outfit for both Finn and Poe might be part of an resistance undercover ploy of some sort... I have a feeling these guys raided Han’s wardrobe in the Falcon... ;)

Lets see how much The Force Awakens made in China
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” racked up a record-breaking $53 million after debuting in China on Saturday, according to studio estimates.Jan 10, 2016
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' China Box Office Opening Breaks ...

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” has stumbled in China with a mediocre $28.7 million opening weekend, marking the first real disappointment for the Disney-Lucasfilm tentpole.

They didn't like Star Wars? No, they liked The Force Awakens it made $53 million in China, and The Last Jedi it made $28 million. If they did not like Star Wars TFA would not made 53 million, they did not like TLJ that is why they took it out the movies there after the second week.

Thank you, because he looks lame his clothing for 9.
I dont want to see another Han or Lando I seen this already, I want new characters that have their own stories their own developments . If I want see Han and Lando I go see 4, 5, 6 again.

i'm really glad Poe got a meatier part in TLJ, but i agree: the lead heroes are Rey and Finn. Poe just hung around on the ship waiting for other people to do stuff. i mean, he mutinied and all to buy them time, but Rey and Finn are the agents of the story.

i agree only a smidge about TLJ; i wasn't totally thrilled with all of Finn's throughline, but i love where he landed and Rose stole nothing from him by preventing his sacrifice. does not make him one iota less heroic to me. i still contend that Finn has more real courage than any other character in the ST so far. Poe? he's not courageous; he has no fear. there's no courage in his recklessness. Rey? she builds courage in TLJ, but she is fighting the Dark the whole time (and not exactly winning).

Finn and Rose are consistently the boldest characters in TLJ. they are ordinary people without power (or powers). in many ways the stakes are higher for them than the other characters too. if Finn dies he loses his newfound freedom, his friend in Rey, and his life. yeah, Rey may shoulder the greater burden because of her power, but for all the back and forth about her building relationships with the other characters, she's still uncertain, she's still alone. Leia assures her she doesn't have to be, but she's still reconciling that for herself. Finn? he's Poe's buddy, he's Rose's friend, he cares deeply about Rey. by the end of TLJ, he's suffering none of the uncertainty and conflict that's still stewing around in Rey.

there's a reason he's front and center in this picture. <3

I do not watch Star Wars to see ordinary stuff and people if that the case I go watch Star Trek. Space stories without lightsabeirs.

I watch Star Wars like million other Star Wars fans to see Space Wars, and Flaming Lightsabers clashing at each other, and and Force Users using the force against each other and force chokes.

Finn only front and center of the picture because RJ though he had something with Canto Bright and he didn't and majorty of those who love and hated TLJ said they did not see the point of Canto Bright.

Yea if Finn such a lead where can I find him in this picture?

    WHERE'S FINN GAME?

I see Luke, I see Rey, I see Maz in her casstle but guess what this big Lead Finn i do not see him. If he such a big deal why they leave him out the picture? Because the artist who drew this did not see him as an important character to put him in the picture.
