First of all, this is no official art. Secondly I don't see Obi-Wan, Anakin, Kylo Ren, Lando, Poe, Leia and so many more. Do you think all these characters weren't important to the artist too? No, he/she wanted to feature mainly creatures of the Cantina. That's it.

He sure did not forget get the main heros who was in the Cantina , Han, Maz, Rey, even the two Aliens Finn left with but he did not put Finn in Maz' castle . Just say it Finn not the lead for most star wars fans.

But I leave on a good note a video

You obviously didn’t read my post clarifying what I meant by Finn becoming like a Han or a Lando... shame.

I have the feeling that only Finn fans think Finn isn't a lead character. But for my part I think he actually is one. This is kinda sad. He had a big part in TFA, he had his own mission in TLJ and in IX he hopefully gets the Stormtrooper rebellion.

Finn is a good and likeable character so far. Could he've been written better? Definitely. But this goes for every character in the ST.

What's even sadder is how Star Wars has a terrible habit of creating the same characters over and over again. Why do the alien creatures who are more powerful and smarter only want to help the humans instead of helping themselves? Yoda, and Chewbacca come to mind. Chewbacca has more than the Skywalkers and the Solos. He has a family that loves him, but all he does is spend his time helping them. Now Star Wars is repeating the same habit with the human characters. Finn only wants to help the Resistance, but not himself. How many characters have to be dumbed down from using their natural common sense in order for the so called stronger characters to shine? It's getting ridiculous seeing how needy some people are.

That's called character arcs. There are three character arcs in writing.
    1) positive change arc
    2) negative change arc
    3) flat arc

So it's pretty common that characters repeat themselves.

Say what? In TFA he was selfish and only wanted to save himself and maybe Rey. In TLJ was again selfish and only cared about Rey. At least for some time of the movie.

So we're all in agreement that he repeated the majority of his development in TFA

The character arcs are rather weak. Especially since they never want anything for themselves.

Just because he doesn't want to fight doesn't make him selfish. That means he can make his own choices. He never asked anything from the Resistance, so he doesn't owe them anything in return. I can understand if he was taking, and not giving anything, but that's not the case. Finn could have been free in the Outer Rim, but we are suppose to believe he made the right choice by helping the Resistance. No one in Finn's position would think he made the right choice. Finn has been doing all the giving with nothing to show for it except a pat on the back. It's the Resistance that is selfish.
With a willingness to die and all. Only this time it's for the Resistance. It was clear in TFA that Finn wanted to live. Otherwise there would be no need to go to the Outer Rim. When he went back for Rey. It was because she looked at him like no one else ever had. Even when he went back to SKB. He was scared, but he went anyway, because Rey meant something to him. Rose is the complete opposite of Rey, but he is ready to get himself killed for her and the Resistance too? It seems Rian wanted to take away what was special about the bond between Rey and Finn.

"It seems Rian wanted to take away what was special about the bond between Rey and Finn."

    • In the audiocommentary for The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson revealed that he created the binary beacons as a way to connect Finn and Rey throughout the movie.

Rey wants a family for her own. => wants love and belonging
Finn wants to live free and safe. => wants freedom
Poe wants to destroy the FO. => wants peace
Kylo Ren wants to be Vader or be better than that. => wants power

Some of these characters may be weak, but they all want something for themselves.

Maybe you should rewatch TFA and TLJ. He didn't make the choice for the Resistance but for Rey.
"I'm just here to get Rey." Finn, TFA
    "Where's Rey?" Finn, TLJ

We are made to believe he's making the right choice because of a girl, a friend, his family. And that was definitely the right choice.

Didn't you complain about Finn having no character development? There you have his development. Yeah, personally I think it isn't a strong one, but it's there.

Anakin wanted to become a Jedi.
Luke wanted to become a Jedi
All characters should want something for themselves. That's what gives them purpose.

I know Finn did it to help Rey, and there is nothing wrong with that. She is the person he feels most connected to.

He didn't have any character development. All he did was switch sides, and he was ridiculed and tasered for not choosing the Resistance right away. Doesn't sound like character growth. Sounds like a gun was put to his head.

The Kylo Ren and Finn empathy gap is a masterpiece. It went even further than my thoughts.

Luke didn't want to become a Jedi, he wanted to become an adventurer. He was force to be a Jedi, kinda like Anakin. Anakin was actually slave his whole life.

... and I already told you what the ST characters want.

In the last Jedi and the novelization of the Last Jedi , Rey thoughts about Finn are mention numbers of time.

Page 166 Rey said to Chewie as Chewbacca was in the falcon's cockpit trying reach the Resistance she asked"

"Keep at it," Rey said encouraging. " If you get through, ask their status and ask about Finn".

Page 84 another Rey and Finn connection. Rey said to Luke " Leia showed me estimates of the First Order's military stock," . " it's massive. And now that the Republic is destroyed there's nothing to stop them. They will control all the major systems within weeks. They'll destroy the Resistance, Finn , everyone I care about."
There she mention Finn by name the Resistance, Finn, everyone she cares about.

You should real well before you respond. Some one said RJ was trying take away the special bond between Rey and Finn. I was showing how they had a bond no one said any thing about being in love.

Finn is different by the end of The Force Awakens and even more different by the end of the Last Jedi.

Finn exaggerates his knowledge of Starkiller base and tells Han he's just there for Rey. This is certainly different from the beginning when all he wanted was to save himself and run away. I think Rey and Finn both found in each other, the first person that showed any type of concern for them, so a special bond formed. Finn was ready to risk everything to save her.

Rose is very important to Finn's next change. He cares for Rey, and is ready to save her and himself, but he doesn't care much for the cause of the Resistance itself. Finn observes how dedicated Rose is, despite losing her home and her sister, in contrast with DJ who only cares about himself. I don't think Finn likes seeing some of himself in DJ, and the lightbulb comes on. He understands the need to take a side and faces off against Phasma and emphasizes calling himself "Rebel" scum. He's so gung-ho by the time he reaches Crait, he's ready to sacrifice everything.

His display of not following orders is reminiscent of Poe earlier not following orders but now we're getting into Poe's arc of learning to respect authority before he can be effective in a position of authority. Rose eventually saves Finn. Her views of essentially living to fight another day are obviously informed by the loss of her sister. It's one of the things I love most about The Last Jedi. Everything isn't black and white, right versus wrong. Sometimes it's hard to know exactly what to do, and there are many shades of gray.

Was Poe correct that taking down the Dreadnought was worth the huge sacrifice? Leia didn't think so. What about Holdo's sacrifice? Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. We just have to make the best decisions we can when the time comes, and we all learn form our mistakes, including Finn.

The issue is many don't believe Finn needed to learn this lesson. Especially from someone like Rose who doesn't know what he has gone through. I wish he would have told Rose the same thing he told Maz, because Rose doesn't know Finn and didn't try. It doesn't matter what Rose thinks or wants. She and the Resistance never did anything for Finn, so he has no obligation to her or the Resistance. If all he wanted to save was Rey then that's fine. The problem was Rian not coming up with any true motivations for Finn or Rey to be in this fight. Don't give a damn what the Resistance wants or there so called call to get others to join them. Both sides would be working for a Solo or a Skywalker, and the fact that this has never been brought up is a crime to story telling. Leia should be questioned, and probably pushed out. I know I would want her gone. I don't want her decision making anywhere near me or the planet I live on.
