Official Hux Episode VIII Discussion Thread

I think Hux is done for in the next movie, however I loved the humorous, bratty exchanges between him & Kylo!

 

I wanted to see more of him. He was a good character. Just underused.

While I hate Hux and I have only loathing for him (which is mission achieved!) he has a role to play still and his interactions with Kylo are great to watch.

Going forth, I see Hux as one of the factors that will make Kylo waver in and question Kylo's allegiance to the FO. Kylo and Hux absolutely hate each other and I think Hux is going to soon cross a line with Kylo that may get himself killed.

Also he is a moof-milker and he doesn't even deserve to have a cat...

EDIT: Also it should be noted that Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler were famous cat haters, so I don't see our "space Hitler" liking cats either...

 

Blofeld the Bond villain had a cat, and Dr. Evil from Austin Powers. I could see him just sitting there, blowing up planets petting some poor innocent cat myself, Blofeld style. Hux was the one so gung ho about blowing up the Hosnian System. And he wanted to blow up the resistance (notice that Kylo had a "not what I meant all all" look when he said that). I hope he does come to blows with Kylo and Kylo finally finishes him with a good old fashioned Force Choke, Grandpa Vader style.

 

i seriously want to write an ode to the weirdness that is General Hux.
what a bizarre caricature of the space nazi he is.
one the one hand it makes me think he's just disposable as such.
on the other, i think, surely, they intend to do something more interesting with him.

some people seem to think he has aspirations to overthrow Snoke and become Emperor.
that'd certainly be interesting.

i have a hard time imagining he would have a cat given the fabric of his uniform (imagine the claws!).
and no, i don't think Hux would declaw a cat if he had one.

i have no idea where they're taking this character in viii, but i hope he's in it for the long haul.
he's absolutely the villain you love to hate.
and i hope, ultimately, Finn gets to kick him in his smug teeth before he's apprehended and sent to work in the salt mines.

bonus points if Kylo Ren Force-throws him into a bulkhead at some point, though i cringe at the thought of giving the kylux crowd more grist for their often unsettling head canons ~ hahaha.

At least that is how I see it happening, lol

 

to be honest i have no idea what he thinks about the Force. i don't see him being jaded about it like Tarkin. the Finalizer does use Dark Force technology, so it's part of what makes the FO run.

and he does have that weird whiplash moment when Ren says "The one from the village: FN-2187" ~ i can't tell if he's surprised that Ren knows his exact number or just that Ren knows who it was. it's a weird (probably purely expositional moment) especially because Ren walks onto the desk asking "is it the resistance pilot?"

like: he knows FN-2187, but he doesn't know the pilot is escaping? kinda bizarre. and Hux is not only loathe to admit that "one of our own" assited him, but then he seems surprised Ren knows exactly which one.

 

I Hope that he gives more speeches,Hopefully addresses to citizens of the first order,He has to be the first order figure head.They actor Domsomthing Gleason made Hux and unlikable villain .

 

Ren knew FN-2187 was going to do something from the time he gave him the look on Jakku. It would have been pretty easy for Ren to put two and two together once he knew the pilot was escaping. Hux hates failure, so admiting one of their own turned probably gave him a belly full of sour milk. Maybe he was surprised Ren knew, or maybe he was just surprised Ren didn't tell him his suspicions. Further evidence for Hux of Ren putting his petty personal agendas ahead of the grand agendas of Snoke and the FO.

This General Hux thread is long overdue.

If anyone deserves to usurp Snoke its Hux. Not a conflicted soul like Kylo. Or someone who easily gives up like Phasma.
Let the future leader be someone who has class and devotion to the goals of the First Order.

Upon hearing Hux's passionate speech before the firing of the StarKiller weapon, I knew that they must have plans for him in the future, they can't possibly pass this up.
Hux doesn't have force abilities like Kylo. He isn't big and strong like Phasma. But he does seem to be a highly intelligent individual. In Ep VIII,
it would be nice to see Hux use that intelligent mind of his to outsmart all of his enemies (and I do mean all enemies *cough* Kylo *cough*). And show everyone in the galaxy and the people here that he is a force to be reckoned with.

I would also appreciate it if "Kylux" never becomes a thing. I enjoyed the constant banter between the two, so don't stop the momentum by having them... like each other.

 

I love that they hate each other. I love that banter, and it's not the I hate you, but I really love you type of banter (Like Kylo's 'rents in the OT), but a disgust. I don't want Kylux to be a thing, they really seem at odds. Hux is diehard for the FO, and it's obvious that Kylo Ren has his own agenda, that the FO is kind of helping for whatever reason, either being training from Snoke, or whatever is going on with him that we don't know. I see him as more the leader of the FO than the figurehead guide of Snoke at this point. He is the one getting his hands dirty. I love hating Hux. It's not a bad character. He's no Tarkin though, but he has the potential to be more like that.

 

oh absolutely he knows which stormtrooper ~ it's just the question of how did he know the exact designation number? maybe he poked into his brain or whatever ~ it's not really important, i guess. i just think Hux's reaction is kinda funny.

i'm all for Hux ascending and being the big bad. he's exactly the kind of evil that people underestimate for the reasons you describe!

i confess the first time i watched the movie, i was so taken aback by their sniping, i had a moment in my head where i thought: "jeez, you two, get a room."
other people had the same idea and ran with it, i guess. Hux frankly revolts me and the actual thought of him having a consort of any kind...geh.
others apparently seem much more infatuated with the idea. hahaha

the only rational conclusion i've come to is that Dohmhall Gleason has a lot of fans, and lots of people apparently have a nazi kink.

 

His banter/rivalry with Kylo in TFA was actually a lot of fun, and I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't "pull a Tarkin" and kill him off after only one film. So yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him (plus Gleeson plays "fanatic" really well imo). And honestly he accomplished more in TFA than Tarkin did in ANH.

I think that he might be the one leading the FO's forces in their attacks (now that the NR fleet and government are gone), or perhaps involved in whatever plot Finn and/or Poe are part of.
