SPECULATION OFFICIAL Kylo Ren Discussion Thread

First, although the theory is interesting I don't think Driver and Ridley are brother and sister and definitely NOT twins as I've seen suggested more than once.
Driver is 31 years old while Daisy is 24. I mention this because the suggestion of the name game theory -- Kylo Ren Solo and Kira Rey Solo is suggesting that they are twins a la Jaicen and Jaina Solo. So with that factoid out of the way I say they're clearly not twins.

I also don't believe they're related and hope not as I do not see Adam Driver as an offspring in any way shape or form of Harrison Ford or Carrie Fisher while I do see a plausible resemblance from Ridley. And I DO hope Ridley is a Solo or Skywalker.

Furthermore, I really hope that Driver is NOT a Solo or Skywalker simply because the son fallen to the Dark Side (especially the Darth Caedus storyline) has been done. IF we want to see that we can just read the "legends" books.

 

In just about every pair you can make some assumption about what each card has to do with the other except 67. Those two cards seem really random together. Although JJ said the numbers have meaning it might not have to do with the original cards of the same number.

1. This is very possible.

2. Presumably the armor is adjustable based on how the pieces over lap and interconnect to account for slight variances in arm and leg length and so forth. I cant see them custom making armor for millions of storm troopers. Luke having an available spot is easy, he was an X-wing pilot because there was an opening for one reason or another (ie sickness, death, cowardess) and wouldn't have have been if this was not the case. They would coordinate in terms of who is flying and how many ships go out, and not just randomly disperse. So it would be clear to who ever is coordinating if there are too many pilots for x-wings or so forth. And luke already being an acomplished pilot of a variety of craft, a crash course on x-wing operation off screen would be sufficient. And of course previous drafts are not canon so that info is erroneous. We are also comparing the GL star wars to the JJ and co. Star Wars. It is already evident he is righting wrongs.

3. I can only go based on what I see in this case. And a see a younger man with relatively long dark hair who resembles Driver. And sure, the designs have changed as is clearly evident by the art, but that doesn't mean a complete redesign, and it is quite possible a removeable face mask exposing a deformed face has always been a part of this character. It is at least very suspicious that Kylo suposedly has a removable face mask and the mouth guard on the character in question matches that of Kylo, and the character in the art resembles Vader without his mask which would seem to coorespond to the Vader shaped helmet of Kylo. Could this guy worship Vader so much that he injured himself on purpose to be more like him? Do you have evidence of when this concept art was developed and that they had no idea who would be cast in the corresponding roles?

4. You're assuming Kylo has a huge part in the movie and/or is the main villian, which you don't know that yet . I think Pip can walk around in a cloak and mask convincingly enough, doesn't take much acting for that. Wasn't Peter Mayhew a janitor? And the voice can be done in post. You're also assuming what kind of acting skills Pip has, which I'm pretty sure you don't know that either. And do you now that Pip was cast after, or that his casting was announced after?

 

In 67 they are looking for Artoo. It is conceivable that Ren is also looking for something.

Wild speculation time go!

11- the first comparison is the fact that R2 and BB-8 both appear to be voiceless Astromech droids with personality. However the picture is of R2 getting captured by Jawas, is BB-8 attempting to flee captors himself?

53- Another very simple connection to start out, X-Wing to X-Wing. I can't really think of any other way they may be connected except to suggest that Poe's scene is from a climactic battle.

67- As has been stated this one sticks out like a sore thumb. I do like the point made earlier that it is possible they are both looking for something. Based on the post of the guy from the force.net who correctly predicted the cross blade lightsaber Kylo Ren is searching for Finn and Rey.

74- two possible interpretations. Rey is a Solowalker on Tatooine like Luke before her, or this is simply pointing out Rey as a Luke expy

81- Just like the Death Star was once a mighty weapon for the Empire stormtroopers are there weapons now.

88- Another one where a connection is hard to grasp. Perhaps both take place during a sequence of events where someone is being rescued?

96- This one is just as bad if not worse than 67. Maybe a sly reference to the Desert planet actually being Tatooine?

One thing worth doing, but would be a huge time dump, is looking at the other original cards and see if there are any instances of a card we'd imagine to better fit the scene from the new cards that they didn't choose. Then maybe we can figure out what sort of story they were trying to tell with the cards they chose. Too many of the pairs match up for it to be a coincidence, JJ at least wanted us to go this route even if it is a red herring

What are you basing this off of? You think Oscar Issac is Kylo Ren? What makes you say you are 100% sure ?

The pics from the Topps cards are only images from the trailer. Could the corresponding numbers also be images from the original ANH trailer?
Is JJ evoking LOST with these numbers? Maybe Kylo Ren is actually the black smoke monster!
