Interesting thought, I wouldn't think he would want to do that, he would want to respect that his grandfather wore it before him.

Thank goodness we have the director to interpret for us. I was wondering if stabbing his dad was going too far, and if maybe a "no, thank you" would have been more appropriate.

However....the killing of Han scene was the one thing in all of SW history that made me into a fan of the saga.....so big one that I am making my first SW tattoo today

I have a thought I wanted to run buy all of you who think Kylo Ren will become evilest evillnes of the overwhelmingly evil Sith dudes....all Sith wield red lightsabers, right? Why then does he wants the one that Anakin wielded....not Vader...and claims it as his own in conversation with Finn. If he wants to be worse than Vader then he should wield Vader's "evil days if his Sith Lordines" lightsaber, no?

Can "evil" guys have "good" lightsabers?

i'm pretty sure that lightsabers take their color upon creation, but after that anyone should be able to use them, provided red sabers work the same as all the rest. i can't personally remember a time when a good guy tried using a red saber, but there are plenty of occasions where someone is using someone else's saber of a different color; just look at Anakin in AotC while fighting Dooku.

 

From the latest piece of canon - "Ahsoka" book - we have learned more about how kyber crystals work and why the Dark Side users have red lightsabers.

According to this book, the kyber crystal "sings" to their rightful owner, and the dark side users have red lightsabers because they have taken a crystal that was not meant to be for them. In other words, the kyber crystal works for them to create their own lightsaber, but they make the crystal "bleed" in order to work for them so their lightsaber will be red.

I guess Kylo Ren wants Anakin's lightsaber since it is a family heirloom that he thinks it is meant for him to have.

 

Kylo said....it belongs to me...as in it is mine to have...not as i want it to put it in a cabinet for display...
So I was gonna comment that Darksiders don't wield lightsabers that aren't red....but then remembered Grievous

Oh well...Kylo is a darksider still allthough his lightsabers isn't red...

 

His lightsaber is red. Poorly constructed, but red indeed. Unless it is Anakin's the one you mean. And yeah, it is interesting since if we remember in ROTS, Anakin was already Lord Vader when he killed the younglings and the Separatists with his blue lightsaber. My guess is that it was too soon for the lightsaber to register that change in his wielder.

Only one I can think of, not tied to video games.

With the "NEW" canon approach to lightsabers, will the blade turn red in Kylo's hand? And, THAT begs the question, why didn't it turn red while Rey was using her anger to fight Ren? Or did it remain blue because the Anakin's-weapon "called to her" in the first place? And what's the deal with Mace's saber? Is purple for Jedi with anger issues? If so, why did Anakin's remain blue? Also: are Jedi with blue sabers more prone to being seduced by the dark side? What about the Temple Guards with yellow blades? Or the silver sabered Inquisitors? From the way its been framed, crystals should all be colorless until they've been bonded by their "gatherer". But that wasn't the case in TCW or in REBELS.

The new canon leaves me with more questions, than answers.
