Mike Zeroh is pretty much full of crap 99.9% of the time. Unfortunately some sites and publications seem to view him as a reliable source of Star Wars rumors. That's not the case here but you will see a lot of stuff published quoting his ramblings

That's unfortunate. :( Well, if there's one thing he's right about, I'm hoping it's this! I'd really love for them to do a Carrie Fisher tribute at the end of The Last Jedi.

Also, I LOVE that poster so much! And I love that we got a decent amount of new footage of her in the behind-the-scenes reel today. It was especially cool for them to show that clip of her talking about how family is so important in this film at the end of the video. :)

Rian is really messing with our brains right now.... Making a statement like "Leia's character wraps up nicely" does sound rather definitive. I don't know if what he's saying is him clarifying that or him trying to cover up the fact that he potentially spoiled Leia's fate in The Last Jedi. Regardless, he's making me want to see this movie a million times more now. I can't wait to see what they do with Carrie and Leia—I just really hope they do our princess the justice she deserves. :)

KK has said they needed to go back and start over with what they had written for IX after Carrie's death. Also, they did not change TLJ after she died. Whatever her fate is, she likely is surviving TLJ.

I think you're right, but I'm also assuming that it's not a matter of them saying this so that we don't suspect anything in The Last Jedi. Maybe they didn't have to alter The Last Jedi at all because they already planned on killing her character, and the whole thing about starting over with Episode IX was just a way of covering that up. It seems unlikely, but it is still possible.

Colin Trevorrow explicitly stated that Episode IX was going to prominently feature both Skywalker Twins. Also, a recent statement suggested that each episode would revolve around an OT character - E7 for Han, E8 for Luke, and E9 for Leia. And while Leia won't be in E9 for obvious reasons, they can still make the movie a story that's about her in a sense.

I do remember hearing all of this; I just wasn't sure if they were saying it to avoid spoiling Leia's death, though. (I assumed they really meant it, but... You never know with Lucasfilm.) I agree that they can definitely make Episode IX a story that's very much about Leia and very much centered on her, but it just feels strange not having her be a part of it. I don't know how they'll handle it, to be honest, but I have hope that it will work out and that they will do both Carrie and Leia justice.

Assuming that Leia survives 'The Last Jedi' (which is the vibe I'm getting from Rian and Kathleen's interviews), it will be weird for her to be absent from the Episode which I can only assume will be the conclusion of her son's arc. Some sort of meeting between Ben and Leia was surely planned--it's seeded in 'The Force Awakens' when Leia asks Han to bring him home.

The only way I can see them working around that is having it take place off-screen, after the events of the film, e.g. someone saying "I have a message, from your mother" (assuming that Ben is redeemed). That, or they use old footage for a hologram (or even Force ghost) for a non-dialogue scene. (They'd have to update her costume, though--no way would a daughter of Amidala wear the same dress in two movies!).

or, it's entirely possible that Ben and Leia already have their reunion in TLJ.
if Ben is to be redeemed, it doesn't seem likely it will be at the last minute the way Vader was.
it could be in stages: reluctant ally being the first.
that gives us all of IX for him and Rey and Luke to squabble all the way to Snoke's stronghold (or whatever the climactic battle might be).

it might be why they feel like they can work with IX without Carrie Fisher.
though no matter what they do, it's going to be heart-breaking knowing why she's not there. : o (

True, that's a possibility I haven't considered! I assumed that with Luke and Leia (likely) reuniting, then that would be all they'd want to give us in this film. I also assumed that they'd save Ben's "turn" (or defeat) for IX, since that's what the other trilogies did with Anakin. But really, who knows! It certainly seems like Rian is going to surprise us and do something we aren't expecting!

I believe this might have been behind the scenes of the vanity fair photo shoot
(this is the dress she is wearing underneath the cloak on her cover)
and also Luke appears "clean cut" unlike he has in any any of the actual footage we have seen from the film

From what I can tell, she has two costumes. One for the first act and one for the third act (it seems like she's out of the action for the middle).

    1. The one with the V-neck underdress is what we see on the starship (in the teaser) as the Resistance flees D'Qar. It's more of a light grey:

    2. And the other with the crew-neck underdress is more of a dark brown, which I'm guessing she wears on Crait:

I suppose it's possible the Luke/Leia reunion only happened for the Vanity Fair photoshoot, as Luke's costume doesn't sync up with Leia's. (He seems to switch to the darker poncho garb later on... unless he changes back to the robes?).

    But they had better reunite!

SIDE NOTE: I love her new costumes. I liked the "gas station" look on D'Qar, but her dark blue formal gown at the end of 'The Force Awakens' (with the "baboon ass hair") was very odd. It felt more Trek-y than Wars-y.

Pablo Hidalgo confirmed back in May that Luke and Leia will be reunited in The Last Jedi. :)

I am really hoping to see some direct contact and shared scenes
rumor is that they have an indirect connection via the force (based on what i hear online)
we obviously wont know until we see more footage/the movie is released but i have my fingers crossed

I just love General leias current looks and hope to see at least one more outfit or hair style since this will be the last time we see carrie fisher in her iconic role

oddly my favorite outfit is her vest and jumpsuit
its the most simple but feels like classic leia to me personally

Are people seriously still expecting a funeral? Han would have hated a funeral.

I'm wondering if they are having trouble figuring out how to handle her in Ep IX which might have a minor impact on the final cut of TLJ. And which may be why we did not get a trailer at D23. Maybe not, but seems like a possibility. I can't imagine this is an easy task for CT and LSG for Ep IX.
