SPECULATION Official Lightsaber discussion thread-EpVIII

I have always hated the Dark Saber for some reason. Looks like one of those things that try to hard to be cool.

 

I always assumed that Kylo Ren already had Vader's Lightsaber, but like all the things he has collected from Vader they are the charred cast off remains. I figure he found Vader's Lightsaber but it was destroyed or very heavily damaged from the destruction of the death star. So he cobbled together what he could from it to make his own, which includes a damaged Kyber Crystal. The imperfect crystal probably needs more energy than normal to function and thus has to vent excess energy creating his "broadsaber". I just assumed he was so obsessed with Anakin/Luke's saber b/c its the only thing of Vader's that isn't a charred and broken mess.​

 

I want The KOR like THIS in Episode 8!

 

Given what we have seen of the Knights of Ren show them with melee type weapons, I'm not very confident we are going to see them with lightsabers.

 

The Knights of Ren are not Sith. Only Kylo Ren had a lightsabre, the other Rens had other weaponry.

 

I believe the Knights of Red are some offshoot/evolution of the Acolytes of the Beyond, which means they are all Vader worshippers with minimal or no Force powers, save for Kylo Ren. So I agree, we will be seeing them wield the clubs/maces/axes we have previously seen.

 

I have always liked Luke's/ Anikanns light saber from ESB. I know he had it in ANH but he never used it save for training with the floating sphere and turning it on for the first time in Bens hut. We saw it in action a lot in AOTC and ROTS, but it was ESB that made a lasting impact on me.
It was cool to see it in action again in TFA.
Although I'm really liking Vaders red saber in RO, even though it was for maybe 30 seconds. Looked so awesome in that dark corridor slaying everyone in there.

 

Asajj Ventress had some pretty cool sabers...

But as for the hilt itself, gotta go with Vaders sleek black design...

I really hope whoever has them, they are few and far between, and only blue, green and red!


We tried having loads of Sabres on screen at once, PT, we know how that went down. I like them to be rare and mystical. I'm talking about the films here though.

Cartoons, games and books are fair game for experiments.

And I want colours! I like colours and the more hilts, the merrier.

 

I've always wanted to see an onscreen lightsaber construction. Hopefully, we get to see that at some point. If not, I'd like to see Rey with a double bladed lightsaber and this Wampa claw lightsaber from the concept art for TFA.

 

I always loved Obi Wans Lightsaber in Episode 1( & 2).


My personal Top 3 would be:
Obi Wan TPM/AotC
Anakins blue lightsaber
Luke RotJ

edit: I love Kylos crossguard lightsaber as well.

 

Speaking of my dremas in regards of Rey's new lightsaber - I would like Rey to have two lightsabers. Colour doesn't matter that much, although something new would be nice. The only person who used multiple lighsabers prominently in film in Grevious and most people most likely forgotten about that - his fight with Obi-wan isn't half as memorable as the Duel of the Fates.

 

I noticed Rey is holding Anakins original blue blade on toy packaging for TLJ, should we assume some things from that?

 

For TLJ, at least, I believe that is the blade she will be using.

 

Luke's green one, because it is Luke's personal one he constructed himself.

 

I thought she needed a upgrade, Anakin's one seem to be hard to handle.
