    I'm confused
As far as I remeber the scene Luke+R2 in the vision is that of the so called "jedi massacre".
I remeber Hidalgo confirmed it is another scene (place and time) than that with Kylo+KNOR under the rain and the so called Clan Leader/warrior. But I don't remember if it was somehow confirmed to be that of so called Jedi massacre.
That said, are you saying that perhaps the scene Luke+R2 in Rey's visions was a scene of the future = Kylo on Ahch to?
It could be, but I still think it's the past. And that is somehow connected with the scene of Luke's hand with the glove (supreme leader Hidalgo confirmed that's Luke)
while he touches the book (that looks burned). I think he's him remebering... probably telling to someone (Rey or Leia - hopefully the latter) what happened

    little edit, sorry.

Well, Mark admits to getting into trouble for it; It is definitely Disney mandated.

I think Lucasfilm got to him and told him to knock it off with his comments saying he '100% fundamentally disagreed with Johnson's vision of Luke.' I love Hamill's candor but I think he went a bit too far with those original comments. Those are the type of comments you talk about after the film is out and then you can discuss if he is right or not. It does no good to say something like that because it is all speculation to the fans, and it may be interpreted a different way. It would be like Lebron James coming out before Game 1 of the NBA Finals and saying he 100% disagreed with the GM about the Cavs Roster. Now that the series is over and they lost in 5 games, we can all debate what the Cavs needed to do to hang with the Warriors more?

again and we are talking about speculation ... but What Mark is talking about is Luke had to kill the kids. You will understand this if you read. Go to first aftermath book and review chapter 18 and pay close attention to what Luke is learning in the screaming Cidatel .... it is very very important... LUKE KILLED THE KIDS THEY WERE ALL STRONG WITH THE FORCE . HE HAD TOO.

He had to kill them because they were strong in the force? Doesn't make sense

    Luke is a Dark Lord.
    Known as Darth Aerys II.
    He burned them all.

Meaning, Rey Solo and Reylo both confirmed.

The speculations are great and all, but believing that Luke who refused to fight at the end of RotJ would have changed so, so much to start killing children or that Lucasfilm or Rian (who said that Luke was his favorite character) would take that path with Luke shows fundamental misunderstanding of his character. Having doubts is one thing, becoming murderer is another.

I totally agree. No way Luke has changed that much or drastically.

I think Mark got in trouble with his comments IMO and Lucasfilm asked him to tone it down. I believe Mark when he said he didn't like where Rian is taking Luke though. Whether that is good or bad is yet to be seen.

He's got a right to his opinion, but I'm guessing that with the kickoff to marketing the film, the last thing you want is one of the principal actors "fundamentally disagreeing" with the director, although he respects him. He said himself it was "inartfully phrased ", giving it a more affirmative, positive tone this time around. But, this isn't new coming from Mark. He's always had strong opinions about various things, but yeah, maybe saying it after the film is said and done, when you're job is to try to build it up and sell yourself as well. I think what Rian had in mind for Luke isn't necessary a bad thing, but something Mark may have not imagined, which caught him by surprise. Hey, Mark's the actor, Rian's the director. Just go with it.

I don't think anyone told him to stop. If anything he got in trouble by haters of the ST and they used it for ammo.

It's written in the StarWars.com databank as well as the Visual Dictionary and the Leia biography book (written in-universe) that Kylo Ren killed the Jedi students & set fire to the temple. Destroying the upstart Jedi is also what Han claims in TFA: that a boy did it.

In the teaser for TLJ, we see Luke fall to his knees in distress at the sight of his temple having been destroyed.

Could be. Not so sure though. Sounds like the House of Mouse had something to do with it. But having said that, I have a hard time believing that people at LFL are not aware of the sentiments of the fandom.
