Wow, Mark had a really tough time with his character depiction and still he gave his best performance. What a great man. But he should also learn (like many people here on this forum), it's just a movie.

I think it's an actor thing. They probably think about some dark things to get them to a certain place in a scene. Hamill, who seems to be a very sensitive, emotional chap anyway, must've struggled with a scene about his character messing up and as a result all his students being killed by what was essentially a high school shooter. But it is incredible what he did with this performance. I didn't think he were capable of it and I worried about his and Carrie Fisher's roles. But he knocked it out the park. Fantastic performance and he should be grateful to RJ for taking him out of his comfort zone and giving him such a meaty role.

Yeah. I know it may look like it, but I don't think what we see in that clip is pure despair over the character of Luke in TLJ. As you said, sometimes actors go to dark places in order to evoke a particular emotion and it may take a while to snap out of it, as we see in this clip. That said, I was still very sad watching this... It's like the director(s?) of the documentary really wanted to highlight Mark's skepticism towards this role and, well, they succeeded. But it's a heavily directed documentary and it's possible it blows some stuff out of proportion. Makes things look dramatic. Like this particular clip - they play his thoughts on the character over this very sad image making us associate the two...

    So, essentially:

Seems like Mark Hamill has always resisted any change regarding Luke's character. Some things will always stay the same (this one is regarding the change of his surname from "Starkiller" to "Skywalker.") :)

Don't get me wrong, I really Liked TLJ, but I'm starting to believe Mark Hamill has some serious issues with how Luke Skywalker evolved in TLJ... I wonder if this leak is true and will hurt his appearance in episode 9?

Yeah, but depends what Mark really wanted to say.. or what people want to interpret from that. I remember that there was another webpage article about the same thing but with episode 8 http://www.slashfilm.com/george-lucas-sequel-trilogy/ . By the way, the guy is an artist and pablo hidalgo answered him of what he said

It is known that Mark was not 100% satisfied with the interpretation of the character, at least it is not the direction he would have taken, but he says that after talking to Rian, he understood why it had to be done, and he has always said that he was going to play his part in interpreting it. Regarding Episode IX it will depend on JJ (at least I have to understand that JJ wants to work with Mark)

The thing is, that is known that there was two times that George "planned" a sequel trilogy. The first time was in the 70/80, and at the end happened what Pablo Hidalgo and Brandon Bird said. The second plan was the draft that he started in 2010 and he gave it to Disney / Lucasfilm, where a couple of things have been kept. Therefore, it remains to guess which of the two plans Mark was talking about, I think it is the first case. If it had been the first case, the safest thing that those episodes would have premiered much earlier than The Force Awakens was, because i dont think it would be possible with the age of the Original Trilogy actors interpret their roles of that supossed story.

not 100% sure, but I guess you only think about a jumping and lightsaber fighting Leia. But what if Lucas had the idea that after Luke died in a big battle against Snoke in IX, that Leia is the last hope. Now she has to carry the burden and transfers her knowledge to Rey and other kids, like the librarian from PT's?

what I said, I had in mind all the aspect of being a Jedi, with their actual age (with the age that carrie fisher would have had) they could only be the mentor role, who passes knowledge, I do not think that neither Mark nor Carrie Fisher could have played a Jedi more actively (less Carrie Fisher with the health problems she had during all these years) If lucas filmed those movies back in the 1999 or 2000, i think it could have been possible to both actors to interpret an active Jedi role. Well the aspect of the fight dont necesary implies only jumping, but also endurance

Just makes you weep. Creature milking instead of Han mourning. I can't work this movie out.
