I don't remember so many people trying to justify themselves after such a success.

No offence, but your'e just starting to wonder? I really do believe that Mark went "oh no" when he read the script. The iconic character that he is synonymous with and who, let's face it, is he's bread and butter when it comes to conventions and such, is being deconstructed to the point, you can't recognize it. I don't care what Mark says now because I"m sure Disney had a chat with him about keeping quiet. But initially I"m sure he was worried because he knew the major fanbase were to going to be happy. He wasn't ever going to keep quiet about not 'warning" fans in a way about what was going to happen. He knew if he didn't, he'd go down with Johnson and everyone else at LFL. He wasn't going to have that. That said, you wonder though, how much Mark's openess about how he felt led to his part being up in the air for nine. I don't underestimate Disney.

It's called House of Mouse called and told him to keep quiet. He's been very vocal about his reservations about the character and he WANTED the fans to know whether he admits it now or not. Now, it's kinda of biting him in the ass.

 

I didn't have a problem with LFL focusing not he new characters. I like Daisy and John, but do it with a bit more reverence and respect for the OT characters. They didn't do Rey nor Finn any service either.

 

Oh well Mark you had to eventually do it.

 

They told him to keep quiet, then why does he voice the same criticisms he initially had in the making offs? They could have cut it. His message is persistent. He is also quite persistent of his criticism of fans misusing and appropriating his initial thoughts. He has told over and over again, even as early as Celebration London how he was suprised and intially disagreed but when he had seen the result and understood what its function was he liked it.

Furthermore, don't you wonder why Disney allowed him to voice his initial reaction publically? Because it was in line with the central theme of the movie. The heroes you meet in real life might not be the heroes you'd imagined.

 

We'll see what he REALLY thinks when all this has blown over.

 

This is the Luke we know, helping people saving lives (the compass makes a cameo in TLJ I believe too)

No, the Luke in Battlefront is the ROTJ 'Luke', how he has always been portrayed in the previous eu. We used to call him hippie-Luke.

It's Hippie-Luke........you can't kill him and he will always talk slow and monotomous for the rest of his life "cuz that mofo is enlighted and shizzles". I really didn't like Luke in the old canon. I've just read the Thrawn trilogy again, just to see how it holds up, and Luke is just extremely boring

 

Ahhhhh, so do you know the TLJ Luke is a retcon; you just like him better.

 

This reminds me of Luke in Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. He was pretty lame in those...
