WTF? When was an Obi-Wan film "OFFICIAL"? OR is this just the "OFFICIAL" thread for discussing the possibility?

Of course any SW Fan need not a third but a third, a fourth, a fifth and so on....

We Need More StandAlone Movies because there so many great characters and wonderful Star Wars Stories to be told. (time to speed up production, i need at least a couple of new SW Movies a Year).

In terms of Standalone Movies i believe "Rogue One" is a superb and entertainment movie but it felt REEEEEEEEEEEEAAAALLLY short in terms of narrative contribution for the main story, R1 fails to deliver:
    - The Story of the main characters, Captain Andor and Jyn Erso, Chirrut and Baze
    - The development of Saw Guerrera Rebel Commandos (by far the best angle to explore this movie)
    - Great Space or Land Battles (compared to Hoth Assault or the First Death Star Space Battle this battles are ridiculous)
    - No Story development (the movie shows a story we already know and nothing else despite the past of Galen Erso)
    - No Organization or Political development (they introduce a couple of cool Rebel Generals and a new Imperial Director but almost no interaction between both organizations neither a global development of the times in the galaxy)

Of course HAN SOLO is the best story left in SW Univerve to be told, is a superb character with a shady past and cool atitude not forgetting a superb sidekick. Han Solo should be the first Standalone and i believe it could even develop over 2-3 movies.

After Han Solo what are the best choices to produce Star Wars Standalone Movies, considering Disney/LucasFilm will continue to milk the Empire/Classical SW Age cow: (and will watch any of these options with great expectation)

    - Obi Wan Kenobi
(this guy deserves a new trilogy just to unwrap the story between the original and the prequel trilogies, i believe this guy might be the main character in SW)
    - Boba Fett
(a fan favorite, can easily deliver a great action movie finally explaining the "No Disintegrations" Vader line. Thumbs Up for this one)
    - Yoda
(i know Yoda got a real overuse in the prequels and the tv show but he is still a fan favorite and could tell a super story prior the events of the original trilogy, if any alien represents SW is Yoda)
    - Darth Vader
(of course the Big Man himself is SW best character and as been underused in the movies, Vader deserves a couple of movies of him killing and slashing everything, chasing the last hidden jedi thru the galaxy)
    - Lando Calrissian
(again a great character with a shady past, they could explore how he got to rule Cloud City in a 007 kinda of movie)
    - Chewbacca
(very, very underrated character, the adventures of Chewie from Kashyyyk till he meets Han Solo, there aren't enough Wookies in SW Movies and they are great)

    - Some kind of New Jedi surviving order 66 and running from the Empire/Darth Vader (could deliver an awesome movie)
    - And why Not a Saw Guerrera Movie? (Rebel Commandos War Movie with the action and the pace R1 didn't had)
    - Please NO MORE Ewok Movies (two was two to many)

AND YOU, What SW Standalone Movie You Prefer to Watch?

Obi-Wan Stand alone!? Take my money....If its anything like the book Kenobi (maybe with some more action for the blockbuster crowd) it should be a great addition to the universe.

Besides an Obi-Wan movie which I want...no, need....they should move away from pre-established characters.

At the most have them as supporting/side/cameos like Bail, Mon mothma, Vader & Takin in RO....but not a movie centered around them as the main character.

A Han Solo movie without Harrison ford is just going to feel weird.

We need new characters, new worlds and new stories.

Rogue one was full of new characters that were fantastic....I want more of that.

I also think they should move away from shoe horning stories into the OT era and set up new lore for the 30 years after ROTJ....it is ripe for telling great stories.

    ....IMO

    ITS OFFICIAL

"Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of Lucasfilm fully intend to make an Obi-Wan movie set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, with Ewan McGregor in tow"

"I want to emphasize that it’s a movie, singular – not a trilogy."

It is not official and it was not confirmed. These are just the rumors so far.

Still, it is very likely that they'll come true.

I think they'd wait until after TLJ or even possibly SOLO is released but may tease us with something next week

Hmmmm, to each their own I guess. I thought Rogue One's character development was strong. Loved the new worlds and especially liked Krennic. Not sure if you left the theater early or what, but the ground battle in R1 was by far the best of the SW series. The space battle was very strong too but I think ROTJ was slightly better. Agreed on Saw but just not sure how they could have squeezed more about him into the movie. As far as no political development i consider that a plus....the separatist plot became so tiresome in the PT, dragging on and confusing. Politics is so tiresome anyway.....the less of it in SW the better. Not sure I get your comment about "no story development" as the only "story" we had about R1 before the movie was one paragraph in an opening crawl, so they did an awesome job developing a story. And as far as your follow on movies, agree with most however trying to get my head around 2 hours and 30 mins of Chewie grunting in his own movie. Unless we speak Wookie, i think we'd need subtitles for that one.....

Josh Horowitz (MTV News): How soon can we expect a new spin-off announcement? My money's on, as many fans are, an Obi-Wan movie, it feels like--

Kathleen Kennedy: You know, I think we're getting close. My hope would be some time around the summer; I never want to predict the creative process, 'cause it is it's own thing, so we're in the midst of those discussions right now.

D23 seems most likely for any announcement this summer (July 14-16), and considering that McGregor wasn't featured at all during SWCO makes me think that negotiations are likely under way.

Mace Windu returns, but for the First Act Obi-Wan's just doing cool stuff on Tatooine like fighting sand people and tracking down Anakin's past. In the Second Act he and Windu meet and Windu's all twisted now and he's like, "Bro, help me do something." And the two do something before Kenobi finds out Windu is doing that something for his own good. Windu's like "but it's good, from a certain point of view." Kenobi kills him. Distressed, Kenobi returns to Tatooine, where we then see the fight between him and Maul live-action, and he comes over to see Luke staring off into the sun.

The End. I imagine it would be like 2 hours and a half.

How big are the chances that Liam Neeson will have a part in the movie as Obi Wans former master Qui Gon?
You know trying to teach Obi Wan the techniques to become a Force Ghost.

Thats the only storyline thats really intersting imo.
    Why ?
-RotS sets it up perfectly with this scene.

-McGregor is still in the perfect age.
-And last but not least it would be just awesome, especially for the kids who grew up with the prequels (hi ).
You know seeing one of their favorite actors/characters return.

Imagine one where the first half is almost silent with us watching him sort of like our initial introduction to Rey before he's forced to suddenly speak and have to protect Luke from the Hutts without Luke and the Lars having any idea
