Obi Wan spin-off takes place a year after Episode 3. While Kenobi is making a supply run in a Tatooine spaceport we have not yet seen he encounters another Jedi who has gone into hiding. They speak and the Jedi tells him he has been plotting an assassination on the Emperor and is almost sure he can do it. Kenobi is first skeptical but as the plan is further divulged it seems more and more possible. The Jedi says he can't do it alone and asks Kenobi to join him. Kenobi accepts and they set off for Coruscant. In the meantime, we learn Darth Vader has been personally tracking this Jedi and has learned of his plot. Both Vader and Kenobi are unaware they are about to be reunited, and Kenobi will learn if Anakin Skywalker really is lost.

I would certainly be up for Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan.

I think it would be cool to see an interaction between Obi Wan and Darth Vader as THE Darth Vader. I always felt the Episode 3 duel/interaction between them never have enough weight to the recollections Kenobi had of Vader in the OT. I think the fans deserve a sort of redux

An underground "freedom fighter" cell of exiled JEDI led by Obi Wan to prepare the future
rebels would be interesting. Not sure if I care to see him face Vader again.

What if Vader almost beat him but let him live....telling him if he ever came back he would destroy him. Obi Wan tries to turn Vader back to the good side of the Force in the midst of their fight. Again, it would give more weight to what Vader later says Luke in ROTJ, "Obi Wan once thought as you did". That always baffled me after Episode 3, because it seems like Kenobi is out to kill Skywalker as soon as he finds out he is a Sith, giving up on any hope of redemption.

It would be awesome to see the an Obi Wan spinoff where the two are forced into one more fight, Obi wan sensing the good that Luke later senses. He tries to reach out and stop the fight but Vader pushes. The film ends with a failed assassination attempt on the Emperor, all the Jedi that were part of the mission dead, and Obi Wan barely escaping back to Tatooine. Maybe even throw in a young Luke cameo at the end, foreshadowing he is the only one that can defeat Vader.

I think it should be when Obi Wan is in his late 50s, not young but not old. That way he is just vulnerable enough to need the other Jedi's help.

I want to know what Obi Wan did between Ep3-Ep4. I want more than just a couple Rebels cameos. Hard to believe he just sat on his ass in the desert while the Galaxy unraveled

If this isn't one of the first 3 spin-off films, I will be surprised.

I hope they make it soon!

What about make it more grounded and base it off of the 'Kenobi' Novel with certain tweaks altered towards it. Perhaps a Space Western.

He should go to Anchorhead in the movie, then.

I think that weightlessness was more down to the acting ability of Hayden Christensen....

Love you ideas Kyle, and Ben facing Vader before they meet again in ANH would look great cinematically, but how would it work in with ANH's dialogue? I think Vader says something along the lines "when we last met I was the apprentice, now I am the master". That would now change to " The last time we met you tried to turn me and failed.....nothing has changed!!" or something like that. However you are spot on with Vaders line from ROTJ "Obi Wan once thought as you did", that would link in nicely.

In any case...An Obi-Wan movie is a certainly must and Ewan McGregor IMHO would be perfect for a role-reprisal.

Ah found the the exact quote:

Darth Vader: I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now *I* am the master.

Obi-Wan: Only a master of evil, Darth.

Couldn't this be a way of bringing Maul back and finally ending that story? Obi-Wan asks Yoda to come watch Luke while he leads Maul away from Luke fearing he would find Luke....Or something along those lines.

I love all these ideas. Maybe it ends with Vader thinking Obi-wan is dead? It would be cool to see an evolution of Vader's armor and mask. I was real bummed when they just slapped the old Vader costume on Anakin at the end of RotS. I was hoping for a very primitive suit that would slowly evolve into classic Vader.:(

    Welcome to the Cantina!

That's a great idea! I didn't think of it, but it would be the perfect way to end Darth Maul's story! I endorse this idea!

Kathleen Kennedy I hope you're lurking on our forum. :p

Some really interesting ideas, but I think it'd be pushing it to have another duel between Vader and Obi Wan. It'd be a crowd-pleaser, no doubt, but it really wouldn't fit with ANH very well at all.

At the time of their duel on the Death Star, as has been previously mentioned, Vader makes it pretty clear that he hasn't seen Obi Wan since he left him as "but a learner." Now, Lucas already pushed that one pretty badly by having Anakin leave Obi Wan as an accomplished Jedi Knight, but it's one of those inconsistencies that's pretty easy to just let slide by.

But if we suddenly throw a new film in the mix that has Obi Wan and Vader facing off within a decade or less of the events of ANH, then that big dramatic confrontation on the Death Star turns into something a lot more like, "Hey Darth, we gotta stop meeting like this."

That said, I do think an Obi Wan movie with Ewan reprising the role would be fantastic. It could certainly show us why he's familiar enough with the Mos Eisley cantina to know that "most of the best freighter pilots can be found here" and "this place can be a little rough." I just don't think it needs to involve Obi Wan going after Vader, is all. Perhaps a final faceoff with Darth Maul (though I could actually take or leave that. IMHO that was one of the worst continuity cop-outs in the entire Clone Wars series... Maul gets bisected across the midsection in TPM and plummets into a deep pit, then he somehow turns up alive and just needing a couple of new legs in TCW, because the fans wanted to see him? Oy...)

But I would say this... given the fact that he's trying to stay under the radar and (more importantly) he hadn't gone by the name of Obi Wan since about the time of Luke's birth, I think he'd need to call himself "Ben Kenobi" or even just "Ben" in the spinoff movie.

The thing is, look at his house in ANH. With all the stuff on his walls and in that big old trunk... it does seem that he had himself some adventures after his career as a Jedi was over with, doesn't it?

I spelled-out my reason I think a Kenobi spinoff would be a great and plausible idea here:

    http://www.starwars7news.com/2014/09/is-obi-wan-kenobi-getting-a-spinoff.html

I didn't hear about a possible trilogy at the time BUT I could see it as well since Ewan McGregor is willing and able to do it (them.) I could see Disney wanting to take advantage of these ideas and would love to see Kenobi tie-up some loose ends from TCW. I could envision Obi-Wan communing with Qui-Gon, at least in voice, imparting knowledge of becoming a Force ghost. I could see Obi-Wan and Maul meeting for the last time in an epic final duel. I could envision Kenobi killing Krayt dragon is the desert of Tatooine like I heard as a kid.

I'd be up for a Kenobi trilogy.

Joel Edgerton says he is open to reprise his role of young Uncle Owen again for Star Wars, more specifically an Obi-Wan spin-off.

Also, Bonnie Piesse (young Aunt Beru) says it would be cool to do her role again as well.
