It would have to be set during the Clone Wars (which I wouldn't mind) for Ventress to appear.

Sadly, I recently read the information that
Asajj dies in Dark Disciple, which makes it impossible for her to appear in something set post-ROTS...

Honestly as long as we get to see Ewan Mcgregor as Obi Wan, I will be extremely excited for it no matter what time period. I read that they are planning it and hope to be released 2021, so one can hope. (obi-wan 2)

I don’t know where else to post this so here goes.

Seeing as how Obi-Wan Kenobi seems to be a perfect Jedi throughout every appearance, I would like to see him struggle in his standalone movie in one way or another. Perhaps it starts with him washed up and somewhat wasted, face down at the bar in the mos eisley Cantina. Having created a reputation of being somewhat of a crazy old wizard, imagine if he owed the hutts money and Jaba sends his goons after him to collect. He uses his lightsaber openly because all the locals believe a rumor that he killed a Jedi or stole it from one. We could see him beaten and broken, brought before Jaba who wants something from him. Jaba knows what he is and knows that he could sell him out to Vader if Kenobi doesn’t do what he says. Jaba wants a Rancor captured and imprisoned and Old Ben Kenobi is the only one crazy and skilled enough to do it. Maybe Jaba makes him take a few of his bountyhunters to do the deed including a certain fan favorite. (Boba Fett)

We could see him revisit the pod races and see how different they have become. Maybe even see him destroy it all and free the slaves involved.
See him save a young Luke (while he and Biggs blast wamprats in beggars canyon) from sand people without Luke even knowing he was in danger in the first place. Have uncle Owen freak out at him telling him that Luke deserves a peaceful and simple farmer’s life. Not follow him on some damned fool’s crusade.
Perhaps Kenobi falls away from the force only to go crazy and start hearing voices. It is the voice of Liam Neeson’s Qui Gon Jin reaching out to him to come back to the light and continue his training.
We can see Kenobi’s own version of the Degobah cave scene only it’s an endless dessert with wave-like dunes moving all around him.
We could see him fall in love with someone who is taken from him after they have married leading him to believe that she is gone forever. This is how we find out that Kenobi’s bloodline continues which would tie Rey to her grandfather. Perhaps Rey even lived on tattooine in her early childhood which would explain why she is left on such a planet with such a similar environment (Jakku).
We could see a broken and rogue Darth Maul pursuing him for his cold revenge.
Maybe we see Yoda appear to him. Showing us that Yoda was also capable of projecting himself across the galaxy as Luke did in The Last Jedi but for a shorter period of time which does not drain him entirely the way it drained Luke.

I know we shouldn’t be writing our own version of things but Ewan McGregor would be the perfect age for this timeline and certainly has the acting chops to portray this character again in a movie set almost entirely in a dessert setting.

It would also be nice to see a Star Wars movie that was good enough in storyline to not have any space sequences.

Sorry for being direct, but: Hell, no! What you describe sounds like a fanservice porn and not like a good movie to my ears...

Watching the Golden Globes last night, it's striking how much Ewan looks to be perfect now for Obi-Wan once more - the beard, his frame. Time for Kenobi, Lucasfilm!

EDIT: Just watched the John Campea show and apparently lots of people have noticed this. Darn it, I thought I had a scoop!!

If they don't use Ewan for any reason, it will be a tragedy. He was literally born for that roll.

This is the one stand-alone movie I really wish would be made. Obi and Owen, something with young Luke getting in some trouble and rescuemission with both McGregor and Edgerton reprising their roles, the reason for them falling out, maybe a mission to Moraband by Kenobi ( and a cool appearence of the ghost of Darth Bane ) to solve some puzzle of sorts... and since a huge part would play out on Tatooine we'd have Jawas, sandpeople, banthas, mos eisley... and of course Kenobi staying under radar of Imperials. And with Moraband ( or Korriban for purists ) there would be the sith connection and mystique. Add Qui-gon and young Luke, Jabba and some bounty hunters and you've got a recipe for a cool movie. So LFL, do it for the fans, we DEMAND a Kenobi flick!

A couple of days ago, there was a rumor that they started the pre-production in London & they are going to shoot this film in the spring of 2019.

    Source: Fanthatracks.com

Today, John Campea said in his 'Open Mic' show on Youtube that the movie was given a green light (and since he was at the Solo première yesterday, probably he got the confirmation from there).

Let's hope we get a confirmation from Disney/Lucasfilm really soon (with the news that Ewan returns, he has to return!)

Ewan McGregor also randomly popped up at the Solo premiere last night. Maybe there’s some sort of announcement attached to the theatrical release of Solo? I don’t know. This is something a lot of fans have been asking for for a long time, and they’ve already announced a bunch of TV shows and other side projects. I don’t know why they’re waiting to officially announce this when there’s already a bunch of reports on it.

I just hope we get something official soon. Especially considering the ridiculously overdramatic response some fans have had to The Last Jedi, Kenobi might score some brownie points with some of the fans who are still pissed off. I don’t know for sure, but unlike Solo, this is a film that pretty much every single fan is on board with, from what I’ve seen.

They are probably waiting to announce it till we are in a less busy period. We now have the release of DP2, Solo, JW, ... all very highly anticipated movies who draw a lot of attention. So maybe they are waiting till these big movies have premièred and they can have all the attention for the announcement?

I have a fun theory. I’m new to the forum world so please let me know if this is in the wrong place. It deals with Rey’s lineage and a possibility of what might happen in the Obi Wan movie, if one is ever made. This theory would potentially tie together the new trilogy and the Kenobi movie in a very exciting way.

So I guess the best place to start my theory would be what I think would need to happen in episode IX. My opinion is that Kylo never really knew anything about Rey’s parents and was simply trying to coax her into joining him when he told her they were “filthy junk traders”. I think we will find out at some point in episode IX that the truth is still out there waiting to be found, and while it probably wont be the biggest plot line of the movie I think Rey will continue to pursue it. Maybe she finds out that someone has the information and spends some time trying to figure out who it is. Only to realize (at the very end of the movie) that it was Poe all along. Now, lets go back to the beginning of the Force Awakens. Who is the mysterious old man that Poe is talking to in the first scene that has the map to Luke? There has been a lot of speculation on who this dude is but nothing canon has been confirmed (to my knowledge). Just keep him in mind- we will come back to him. So back to the last scene of episode IX- what if after all the drama is over and they have won whatever battle, Rey and Poe are talking alone and he spills the news that he is the one who knows who her parents really are. Poe tells Rey how he met a man on Jakku that told him the story (the old man) And then, with a zoom in on Rey’s face, Poe just says it, “Kenobi”. Straight to black screen and credits. Now everyone is wondering how this is possible and in the same weekend Lucas Films releases their intention to make the Kenobi film, and everyone now knows how they are going to find out what happened and how this is even possible, GO SEE KENOBI! Talk about getting fans amped for a movie. Now, you’re asking yourself, how could Old Ben impregnate a woman that gives birth to Rey so many years later? Lets get to that.

We can all pretty much agree that the time frame for which the Kenobi movie will probably be based in the time frame of when Obi is watching over Luke on Tatooine. In my opinion it would be best to start it when Luke is a young teen, maybe around 13 years old. This will have given Obi some time to really sink into this life of being the silent guardian. I don’t think Luke should be a main part of the story but it would be fun to see him pop up a few times on screen. Since we know Luke knew of a man he called ‘Old Ben’ to some capacity. Anyway, the first thing I noticed to spark this theory were the similarities between Tatooine and Jakku. Obviously they are both very dry desert planets, at least what we see of them. Then I noticed all of the wrecked Star Destroyers and ships on Jakku, seems there was quite a battle there at some point.

Ok, so in the Kenobi movie, we find that he has fallen in love with a local woman on Tatooine. After all he’s been there for 13 or so years and has had nothing much but time on his hands. For conversation sake we will call the woman Nola. The drama here is that Nola is already married to an ass hole ex-fighter pilot and has a child, a boy that is around 21-23 in the movie who is first seen in a few scenes with young Luke. The boy (lets call him Mett) has taken after his father and is quite the young rebel pilot himself. Luke looks up to him and obviously wants to learn from him.

The connection is so strong between Nola and Obi that she cannot ignore it and ends up leaving her somewhat arrogant husband. Mett becomes bitter at Obi, who he had once admired, for breaking up his parents. At some point in the movie (maybe on a trip somewhere) Obi and Nora come into contact with some Storm Troopers, maybe an elite Trooper squad of some sort. After just learning that his mother is two months pregnant AND secretly finding out Obi’s true identity he becomes so enraged that he finds a way to alert the Troopers who Obi is and a battle breaks out. During the chaos Nola is captured and the Troopers get away with her. She is delivered to Vader himself and is tortured to give clues to Obi’s whereabouts. She is extremely faithful and maybe shows a flash of some force sensitive qualities in resisting him. The one thing that he can see in her mind is a planet of vast sand and desert. Obi can sense that Vader has this clue and in a desperate attempt to save Luke he somehow relays information to be seen by Vader that will lead him to believe that the planet is Jakku. Obi then convinces Nola’s ex husband on Tatooine that she is in grave danger and the only way she will survive is to go to Jakku and steal her back during the battle. He also drops the news that she is pregnant here, quite dramatic. The ex reluctantly agrees to help and the two round up all the rebels they can and head to Jakku. Mett is told he is too young for this battle and is told to stay put but he steals a ship and secretly follows.

In the battle of Jakku Nola’s ex is killed in action trying to make an attempt to rescue her, and at the climax, Mett sweeps in and somehow protects Obi from being captured, maybe after he sees how much love Obi has for Nola and is willing to sacrifice himself for her.

After a long and deadly battle on Jakku, Vader realizes that Luke is in fact NOT on this planet after all and decides to punish Obi by freezing Nola in carbonite, just like Han in Episode 5, and leaving her there on Jakku to torture Obi Wan and use her as bait. Darth also implanted a tracking unit within the carbonite so if Obi took her anywhere he’d know it and possibly find Luke. At this time carbonite freezing is still pretty new tech and there’s no button on the side that allows you to just undo the procedure.. The movie ends with the battle being won by the rebels, but Obi is crushed because he believes there is no way to bring her back. He loses hope and realizes he must get back to Tatooine to live out his lonely days watching over Luke. Mett however stays on Jakku to watch over his mother and spend his days trying to get her out of the carbonite.

If you haven’t figured it out already, Mett is the Old Man from the beginning of Force Awakens. He did finally find a way to get his mom out of the carbonite but she never regained full consciousness. And after a c-section type pregnancy she dies. The baby, however, lives. And is named Rey, by her much older brother, Mett.

This explains why we hear Obi Wans voice in Rey’s head during The Force Awakens, and all the broken down ships on Jakku, AND how powerful Rey is with the force.

Now, how Mett ends up with the map to Luke.. Lets just pretend that Mett hears about the famous Luke Skywalker (the young boy he once mentored) and some of his alleged happenings during the original trilogy years, including something about Han Solo getting out of a carbonite freeze. He seeks out Luke and the two become close after trading stories about Obi Wan and their childhoods on Tatooine. Mett begs for the information on how to undo the freeze but Luke just doesn’t know the answer. If you remember, Luke wasn’t there when Leia got Han out of the freeze. Luke refuses to give away the location of Han and Leia, as they are laying low raising young Ben. This angers Mett and he plans to find Han and Leia no matter what because they must know how its done, so he plants a tracking device on Lukes X-wing to see if he can get any information that way.

A while passes and Mett ends up trying the procedure on his own with all of the info he had gathered over the years, but the tracker is still on Lukes X-wing. The Kylo incident happens and Luke flees to Ahch-to. And the only person with that information is Mett.

I know that’s a lot to take in. Obviously there would be a lot more to the Kenobi movie, I just wanted to hit the important stuff pertaining to this theory. Read it a few times and let me know what you think!

It's a gossip site, so... not really...? Also, apparantly in their "scoop" they quoted fragments of description from Amazon of a Legends novel Kenobi. Not only that, this rumour about Stephen Daldry has been circulating for at least a year now, so it's nothing new.

I stand corrected, then. Still, there's nothing really new here. It just serves as another piece of evidence supporting the existence of a Kenobi film.
