From the EW article copy, is this the first official confirmation of Grand Inquistor in the series?

So excited for Inquisitors- I think they're a fascinating addition to Star Wars, and I really don't feel like anything else would've made sense for Obi Wan's story here.

Alright, time to break everything down! I've been busy and on the road all day, so I didn't have time to react to the EW stills earlier. Because of that, this will be my breakdown and thoughts of everything Kenobi related to today.

    EW Photos:
When I saw the stills, I was immediately excited and almost immediately worried at the same time. The stills looked phenomenal, and probably did a better job at hyping me up for the show more than the trailer in all honestly. (More on that later.)
But there was one thing, one innocent, innocuous, and ultimately mostly unharmful but probably still controversial thing that I noticed and that bugged me - our main inquisitor is Black. I don't mean this in a bad or terrible way, but...well...I've noticed that in visual media, all darker skinned (not just black) women in the Disney era of Star Wars have been associated with the Dark Side at one point or another.* Second Sister was an Inquisitor not unlike our new one here, and Agent Tierny was a First Order ISB member IIRC. Cere is defined by her singular goal of restarting the Jedi Order and her failing her apprentice. Even Tam Rivera joined the First Order at the end of the first season of Resistance and Jannah was a Stormtrooper. (And that's not even getting into romance, or lack thereof.)
Now, many of the above examples didn't stay or end their stories associated with the Dark Side, and redemption is a powerful thing, but I just can't help but notice small trends like that... Star Wars is far from the only franchise to do that - while Amazon's Wheel of Time shows women of all ethnicities and colors, I can't help but notice the darker the skin, the more akin to a villain the character will end up being in the show. There are other examples of Black SFF characters being...well, not as popular or respectfully treated IMO in SFF, but one major one I'm thinking of I actually need to sit down and play through to make sure I have the full story. None of these franchises intend for these trends to pop up, but I notice them - or at least notice trends that I'm sensitive to that makes me believe it's a pattern - all the same. Add into this my fear of Third Sister dying as soon as she decides to redeem herself or in the act of redemption as many other Dark Siders do, and...well, I'm not fond of the implications.

    Onto the trailer itself:
My thoughts when I saw it released - "They thought I was a madman, that I needed to wait until April or at least later in the month to see a trailer! But look at us now! Sure, I was roughly two weeks off, but we still saw it before the 30 day mark! Who's wrong now! MUWAHAHAHAH! :p:cool:(duel)"
It was good. It was well shot, dynamic, and looks to hold some promise! The music was a solid rendition and wonderfully used. That's all I could reasonably ask for. Some of the CGI needs a little more polish IMO, since some stills looked like they were out of a videogame, not a Disney show, let alone a Star Wars one.
There's also the fact that since it's Kenobi and since I already have a story about what I wanted from Kenobi in my head, this was bound to fail from the onset. On the flip side, I'm happy my expectations have fallen quite a bit. They were too puffed up, and I needed a reality check.
Regardless, I believe that I can love this in time, and I'm still eagerly awaiting the premier to share it with everyone here!

*This isn't a problem in print media, but I still find it annoying in visual mediums.

I loved the OB1 trailer but I think ANY TRAILER would've gotten us 'all goosebumpy' with John Williams' Duel of the Fates as the soundtrack!!! :) ;)

Second Sister is a minor exception given her last words, but yeah I'm not holding my breath either.

Everywhere I read the Grand Inquisitor is who speaks in the trailer (btw, am aware of the line between animation and real action, but if he is the same of Rebels, it's a very bad transformation).
But is just me or the one who speaks is not the Inquisitor? The first sentence. Seems pretty clear to me the one who speaks is the man seen from behind who seems to be The Emperor.
For me is so clear two different voices. Makes totally sense Emperor saying the key to hunt Jedi is patience, as the Inquisitor is the one who will hunt Jedi.

Absolutely agree.. although with the experience we have watching trailers and shows and cgi of any kind, what we see in trailers It think is the final result. I never have seen improved cgi (in certain shots) from trailers to final result.

I hope visually will not be like Boba Fett episodes. Hope more TM episodes, feeling more open and more cinematic.

It seems like Obi-Wan will mainly use a blaster for fighting. I love that! The lightsaber should be the last tool of defense.

I see what you mean with: “The key, to hunting Jedi… is patience”, but I believe it’s the Grand Inquisitor, just speaking in a lower register than the later lines. It’s definitively a voice performance meant to evoke the Emperor, though.

I don't understand. Are you saying that the hatt dude in the café (or whatever) with no scars, in beige clothes with the back towards the camera, facing the Grand Inquisitor, is Emperor Palpatine?

This is clearly a patron/proprietor of some establishment being interrogated, right?

This series might just produce the perfect helmetless Vader avatar. "patience". :D

Loved the trailer. If there's one thing I learned from TBOBF that is ironically spoken of in this trailer, it's patience. If there's another thing I learned, it's to never again place my hopes too high. Having said that...............

Luke pretending to be a pilot (what was Luke a young brunette?) is a wonderful touch of Luke as a child that I'm sure millions of sw fans must have imagined in there own minds over the decades now brought to us in our living rooms. I always wondered just how the hell did Obi Wan "watch over" a young Luke without being noticed. Well, it looks like he was hiding in the the now convenient cleft of (near by rock formations?) with binoculars. That's right Debra keep it real, keep it simple.

Problems with inquisitors being Black? Quit bitching and Deal with it. Your living in the real world even in AGFFA and that's coming from someone who's favorite sw movie and first sw experience was TESB if that tells you anything. A movie made in a time when Hollywood wouldn't THINK of casting a black person in an imperial uniform, not even an expendable stormtrooper. Times change and HAVE changed. Either exist in a bubble or evolve and change with them is my advice to whom it may concern. Reva (nice Revan nod) is indeed a black woman of color cast as an imperial villain with a red lightsaber. Let's see 1982 - 92 - 2002 - 2012 - 2022, it only took forty years that's all. People might need to take the same advice given to the Grand Inquisitor and be patient. Hunting jedi takes patience. What better representation of patience can we get in sw than a woman of color to perform the task? Star wars has evolved beyond a black space pimp with a perm and a cape living in the clouds and chasing white women (don't get me wrong I love Lando and understand the character for what it is but I'm using him to make a point). What's most important and should be the main focus is that Moses Ingram own's the role and portrays ruthless ambition in hunting down OBI Wan. I hope the writer/director do her role justice. I need her to own her physicality of being black and female and kick some ass. Convince me of her cold unrelenting meticulous pursuit of jedi. Convince me of her loyalty and servitude to the empire. I want to see ruthlessness. In other words, I need her to be a great and respected villain. She had better be if she's representing Vader himself. I hope she brings gravitas to her role. #moffgideon

For some reason the public transport put me in the mind of the Tatooine train from TBOBF in some weird elongated type of way, if that makes any sense.

I'm loving all these red sabers! Spinning double blade red sabers. Give me more!

I felt tension and suspense vibes in the trailer and It's wonderful. AGFFA is a dangerous place (I wouldn't want to live there) and tension/suspense are two of the main ingredients that make star wars star wars. This IMO is where TBOBF fell short and I pray this series delivers it beyond the trailers.

Ewan is looking good and age appropriate for the time frame. Seeing him on Daiyu made me think of him on Coruscant, a nice nod to the prequels.

No Hayden Vader teases yet but there coming for sure. I have a strong feeling that we're in for a real treat and that we ain't seen nothing yet so it's probably unwise to get caught up on miniscule bs and lose focus of the big picture. (dual)

In the German dub (on the official German Star Wars channel) the voice is the same one.
