This is simply the issue with only having a TV budget (even a large tv budget like a Star Wars show) in order to do the inquisitor justice you would have to use a lot of CGI and that’s expensive.

Not necessarily. Sure it would have cost a little more, but I think they could have used practical effects more effectively to make the Grand Inquistor look nastier than it appears they did.

Sorry, don't agree. I think it has nothing to do with the budget. Is just a simple think of doing something right and previosuly well thought. We have seen minor movies and shows that worth every dollar. I bet you there are plenty of actors out there with very characteristic trets waiting for oportunnities (like that guy from Utapau...). If you see villains and supporting characters from 70's and 80' there are very different actors (or not actors!) doing their parts.
I think it was more difficult to bring back Cad Bane and they did an incredible job. Looked sublime on screen.
An actor with a narrow face I'm sure it's not that hard to find. This, and good make up. If in 80's was possible today it is.

I will judge the final result when i see it. At this point I don't mind if doesn't match. The problem is it looks so weak and lazy.

@daRinze the year is 1977. A tall gangly looking 12 yr old from Pennsylvania, USA, sees the movie called “Star Wars”. Rushed home and tried to tell his Mom and Dad about it….then saw it 8 more times that summer. This kid spent a lot of time that summer in the back yard, on the woodpile, with a lightsaber and a beat up old helmet of his Dads, “flying” his X-wing.

yeah, that scene of Luke…..cannot deny that my eyes were leaking a bit when I saw that….

I don't think we'll see much if any of Coruscant. Maybe there will be a flashback like Boba's in TBOBF. But I think the city we saw is some place else.

I remember some people thought for a moment that Din was on Coruscant in TBOBF Chapter 5. (The ones who hadn't been paying attention). Any dense "modern" city in SW is measured by Coruscant now.

The city depicted in the Kenobi trailer has explicitly been named Daiyu. It's a new world, and the writer (I forget their name) wanted to evoke a sort of seedy, SciFi Hong Kong (so do expect a strong Blade Runner vibe from that place) :)

I think the only real issue is the eyes. People say it’s the head shape, the way the lines look, all that. But I think what really creates that gut reaction is the very human eyes. If he had dark side yellow eyes, I don’t think half as many people would have even thought twice. But something about the eyes just shouts, “That’s a regular dude in makeup.” Wouldn’t be surprised at all if they give him dark side eyes in post.

Agreed that this wouldn’t be a huge budget issue. Almost every single episode of Mandalorian features Grogu—a way more expensive feat than doing the Inquisitor right.

But at the end of the day, this feels like a small detail to me

Overall I think this show presents a great opportunity to explore the emotional fall out of Kenobi andSkywalker's duel on Mustafar. It's fairly quickly washed over at the end of ROTS. But surely Obi Wan must have been shattered by leaving his friend dying an agonising death. But when does he learn that Anakin/Vader didn't die? Does that news bring relief that his soul isn't burdened with the guilt of fratricide? Does this give way to pity, and revulsion at what Anakin has become and perhaps wish that he had finished him off by the lake of fire? The lifting of that weight from his conscience may be the thing that allows him to retain a tiny bit of hope. . (..................... Hope that Luke never finds out what he did to his dad. ;) )

Posted in jest in response to the G.I.'s appearance- but it does do a pretty good job demonstrating how the animation really stylizes some of these characters.

I totally agree with you about not wanting Superman to be black. I'm black as well (mixed). Please leave Supermen white. Just because it's totally ok to cast black people, and people of other ethnicities in sw roles yet to make live action and not physically defined in canon, does not mean it's cool to go changing the race of legendary character superheroes such as Superman. That's like turning Yoda blue and Thrawn green. I mean.........REALLY? WHY? Just to reverse appease? Can we just keep it real for once? I like Supermen the way he is. IMO.

Yes Reddit can get pretty crazy.

The LIVE ACTION Grand Inquisitor. My advice? Like you stated in so many words. Give him a chance. Talk about spoiled picky JFC.

    Thank you BTW.

Right. Like he's going to parade around in jedi robes flashing a blue blade. Thanks for that.

It may be that neither of the two characters in this shot are the ones speaking the line we hear. Could the one speaking be a clone? #commandercody

    Absolutely this, yes.

Also if the story is really good and exciting and the rest of visuals is very cinematographic, it will be a minor detail for me too.
The story needs to open more than BOBF: planets, space, ships, landscapes, big events...

The date change is a small one but overall harmless. And we even get two episodes out of it!

If they have a battle it's just going to take away the effect of the one in episode 3, At first it seems like a bad fight but when you see how cautious they are because they haven't seen each other for a very long time it's great. You can see that their trying to see how much each others power has grown and they know the consequences if they lose. If they have had a previous interaction it takes that away, also the iconic line were vader says "A presence I've not felt since...." Disney Always do this, like bringing back palpatine, they tamper with lucas's masterpeice and get rid of the feeling that luke succeeded and there is peace acroos the galaxy. tut tut tut

Lucas himself retconned his own story a billion times. That’s just the name of the game with Star Wars. Even then, Vader never outright says “A presence I’ve not felt since… Mustafar. 19 years ago.” The line is very vague because Lucas didn’t want to box himself in when he made stories that took place before ANH. People really focus in on that line but don’t question the “Obi-Wan once thought as you do,” line from ROTJ. That doesn’t line up with what we see in ROTS, but this show will certainly recontextualize that.

And personally, I’m not super satisfied with any of the Vader/Kenobi duels we’ve had on screen. The one in ROTS is cool but way too drawn out and the one in ANH is literally just two old men tapping sticks together, while show can finally show us an awesome duel with emotional resonance.
