SPOILER Official Obi-Wan Disney+ Series - Discussion

Ah. That would be my computer auto-correcting itself and me not picking up on it. Because it honestly thinks it's better at typing than I am.

 

Here is my outline for an Obiwan trilogy:

Obi-1: Ben gets bored being a hermit on Tatooine and convinces himself he needs to hang out at Mos Eisley Cantina in order to overhear any news that could imply a threat to Luke. At first he portrays himself as an old drunk, to appear non-threatening. Gradually the disguise becomes more of a reality as Ben becomes an actual drunken master. He also develops a keen appreciation for **** music, and and gets deep into the galactic music scene, sees a bunch of touring bands from alien worlds. His favorite is Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, though he prefers their deep lyrical, mythologicaly themed, experimental music to the trite pop-**** they are forced to play on the weekends for moisture farmers who are on their weekly trip into town. The local cantinas are controlled by local crime boss sluggs. Ben develops a relationship with D'an, with whom he ingests intoxicating Kessel Spice, hears rumors about pirated music of other galaxies and time travel. Through D'an and under the influence of spice Ben somehow gets caught up in a gangster driven plot to travel through time to a distant galaxy in order track down a fantastic musician from another world. He is promised more spice, on which he is now dependent, fantastic music beyond his wildest imagination, and to be returned to the Cantina with no lost time. Against his Jedi code, Ben agrees, hoping the time travel works out and his trip poses no danger to Luke, though nothing is certain. Lando arrives in the Falcon to transport Ben through hyperspace/time. The Falcon has a great sound system and Lando has an amazing collection of pirated **** music.

Obi-2: Ben assumes the name Dave Brill and poses as a music journalist on planet Earth in the distant future; in the Don Cheadle directed Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead. The entire movie is retconned as the second part of the Obiwan trilogy, maybe with an opening crawl added on but that is the only edit.

Okay I have to go to work, I will return later to summarize the trilling conclusion to my idea of the Obiwan trilogy...

 

Okay, I haven't seen Miles Ahead yet, just the trailer. The trailer shows Ewan McGregor's character being drawn into an adventure by Miles Davis to recover a specially prized jazz tape recording stolen from him by some dastardly dudes. Where have I seen a plot revolving around recovering stolen tapes before? Can't quite place it... Anyway, haven't seen it yet so I don't know how that plot ends up.

Obi-3: Lando and Ben aboard the Falcon, listening to a stash of 70s avant-jazz-funk they are smuggling back in time and across space to their own galaxy. They somehow get mixed up with a character portrayed by Herbie Hancock, inspired by the cover of his 1974 album Thrust. Okay, i'm gonna have to think about the rest of this one...

 

Absurd. He's going to try his hand at being a playwright at the Mos Espa cabaret, and writes a musical that is a thinly-veiled retelling of his tragic love for Satine, then gets roped into playing himself and falls in love with the singer playing Satine, and vies for her affections with a mustachioed Imperial official. Jim Broadbent features as the cabaret's flamboyant alien owner/MC.

 

I can't be the only one who remembers that Moulin Rouge happened, right? @Admin of this facility referenced an upcoming Ewan McGregor film, so I decided to join in the fun.

 

Ah yeah i haven't seen the movie as my parents wouldn't let me watch it when it was first released lol...I just don't get how this thread is still a thing since it's been debunked a looong time ago as I beleive it started when someone posted a photoshopped picture of a disney star wars slate panel somewhere.

 

You didn't miss anything groundbreaking, honestly. I would definitely say that it falls into "so bad, it's kinda enjoyable" territory.

it will be a tragedy if the third stand alone film is not based on obi wan, a petition needs to be made!

 

I agree. I want a good story though. The expectation for the Han Solo film will be high but I think even more so for a Kenobi film. The benefit is that we'd most likely have Ewan McGregor reprising his role.

 

And he is definitely up for it. On several interviews he shows he is clearly motivated to do it if asked.

 

It would be a good story, I would like to see a younger Qui Gon appear on taking him as his apprentice.

 

You're right! That would be awesome! Maybe to show flashbacks or start from when he was taken as Qui Gon padawan. That would be so cool.

 

I'm glad you think so, I would welcome flashbacks also & hear new unique quotes from his master.

 

i think a good story could be made, although obi wan is on Tatooine for 20 years, it would be interesting to see:

how did he emotionally recover from the destruction of the Jedi order and Anakin turning to the darkside?

how closely is he watching over Luke?

why does Owen Lars not like him?

how much did he commune with Qui Gon? i assume alot as he learnt how to become one with the force, did they discuss Anakin?

did obi wan communicate with Yoda on a regular basis?

did obi wan have any involvement in looking for hidden Jedi that survived the purge?

or did he come into any scuffles on Tatooine? maybe with Hutts,Bounty Hunters?

WE NEED TO GET LUCASFILM/DISNEY AWARE WE WANT THIS!

 

yeah, please do a Kenobi standalone movie and not a Boba Fett movie as it was rumored some time ago.

 

A kenobi movie would be great..

 

at hope they don't do a trilogy they domt do a trilogy with it but a mini not would work better better
