I'm dredging out old speculation, but could Rey be derived from Nabberie (Nabber-Rey)? If Rey is Leia's daughter, it would be cool if she named her in honour of her own mother: Nabberie (Rey) Solo-Organa.

I also heard Carrie Fisher biological daughter will be in the movie also.

nods she plays a younger Leia in a flashback scene when Rose/Han/Rey/Finn do some chant thing. Also they've had Robert boulter as a younger Luke.

The likeness between Mark & Rob is there he might get the call to do a spin-off movie playing Luke Skywalker in the future based on his younger years.

 

If someone can make Joseph Gordon Levitt look like a young Bruce Willis with prosthetics they can do anything.

Back to Rey it's obvious that she's a Solo. I doubt she is a Skywalker, well she is kinda because her uncle is a Skywalker. Also we know she's a lead role with Finn.

Anyone remember the plot from that movie... it's been a while.

 

Well, I believe DC Kira had the ability to communicate with animals, and also had wings (though this was apparently a trait shared by the females of her species).

The film's plot revolved around getting a shard of the titular Dark Crystal back in order to purify it (or something).

 

Wasn't she an orphan, both parents killed and raised by a tribe that gets attacked?

 

I think so! It's been forever since I've seen the film, so I'll just read the Wiki.

OK, she and Jen are the last of the Gelphlings (So yes, an orphan), and they were both raised by different species. Kira also has a petlike companion (BB-8 if it isn't Poe's?).

 

Ah Dark Crystal those were the days, I can see a likeness between the two based on rumors so far

Exactly what just struck me...

And the similitudes with the rumors so far... And what I recall from the movie...

 

Dark Crystal is in my Top Ten All Time. I think the code naming is possible, given they are both orphans, but not sure how far the reference can be extended. For example the lead DC male is Jen, which sounds like both Ren and Finn. Rose sounds like the equivalent of Ogra.

If the movie ends with a fusion of Sith/Jedi into a singular, force-balanced species I think its safe to say this was the model.


Edit: Ogra gives them a crystal shard that is integral to the plot, very similar to rumors of Rose giving them the Lightsaber.

 

Wasn't dark crystal a lucas film?

 

It's actually Jim Henson's baby... he worked with Frank Oz (Yoda) and Gary Kurtz...
People close to Lucas.

 

Lucas later produced Labyrinth with Henson - It's easy to imagine he might have been involved in Dark Crystal if he wasn't tied up with Raiders/Return of the Jedi during the period Crystal was being developed and shot. Jim Henson's team helped develop Yoda for TESB, and it was Kurtz who brought Henson in after seeing some of the stuff they had been working on for Crystal (it was a long development, dating back to around 1977).

 

Rey's character

1.Lives on tatoonie as a junkie/salvager/smuggler takes after her father Han solo but is also force sensitive from her mother's side.
2.Has a droid.
3.Own's the Falcon? Seeing concept art of a ship called Falcon pod or pod Falcon. The rebels show crew the Ghost has something similar a pod shuttle.
4.I don't think she'll have any love interest in the force awakens, due to her parents not being together. But she may have one in episode 8/9.
5.I think she is more like Han Solo on character type, on how she acts and what she says. Han "Who's scruffy looking" Han "He its me" etc...
6.She'll be the new Han Solo in episode 8 with Chewie as her sidekick.
7.She'll be forced to engage the force as she faces her brother Kylo.
8.She is the pirate/jedi as Kanan is the cowboy jedi.

This is what I see for Rey, from reading different types of rumors and looking at concept art.
