What a weird video.

 

Watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the tv show, not the movie) and compare her character to many of the female action stars today (certainly the superheroes). You'll see the difference.

 

I watched a bit of that when I was a kid and Buffy was a parody of female characters who were victims in their films. I mean Rey comes across more like Ripley of Alien fame than she does like Buffy, if anything Rey is more masculine.

 

The weird videos continue.

 

Yeah they do, one week on and this guy still can't get it right.

 

I don't like the videos and the nature of it. Too weird and I hope it stops.

I wonder what she means by changes;

'I’m really lucky to be able to do the Star Wars thing from different people’s point of view. I never thought I’d be able to be in one film, let alone three films playing a character that I really love. Also the character changes. It’s the same character but different circumstances in the three films.

 

Luke went through a character arc in the OT, from thinking that victory over the Empire was most important and could be brought about by killing and destroying all the Imperials, to realizing that the redemption of his father was more important. It wouldn't be surprising if Rey would go through a character arc in the ST as well. Perhaps she starts by wanting to learn the Jedi skills from Luke in order to help the Resistance defeat the First Order, but then realizes there is something more important than beating the First Order.

 

I didn't mean Rey was Buffy.

Buffy's character was a hero BECAUSE of her feminine qualities not inspite of them. As you said, Rey is more masculine. I suspect you could put a guy into Rey's role and very little need to change for the movie to make sense. Where as if you gave a man all of Buffy's lines it would seem ridiculous because Buffy's character is a woman.

 

Maybe two as alive and 3rd as a force ghost.
