Official Rey Episode VIII thread

I wonder why there's no pro Rey Skywaker thread. Or is there?

 

Im sure there has been but I think the Rey's lineage game switches so many times on what's popular no individual thread can be kept alive long enough to be remembered.

One week it's Rey Skywalker, then Rey Solo, then Rey Nobody and then we hit the Rey Palpatine and Kenobi ones by the end of the month

They could spin Rey being adopted by Luke or honorary heir of the Skywalker name but it wont be the same as Rey the daughter of Luke.

It's like if Lando took over the saga. Not that i dislike Lando. He almost single handedly won the day at Endor. But as great as he is he's not a Skywalker.

 

they could but why? If they are going to go to those lengths just make her his daughter.

 

I honestly think Rey will use Anakin's/Luke's Lightsaber for the majority of the movie if not the whole movie... However id love to see her build twin lightsabers that can be connected to be a double bladed one. I believe she'll stick with blue... But it would be awesome if she got a yellow or white one.

On that note how cool would it be if Rey fought Snoke in the end of IX. Hers was white and his black.

I think she should use a double because of her skill already with the staff.

 

I'm sick of the "trick" and "fancy" lightsabers. EVERY character in PT had to have some kind of Lightsaber gimmick. Its not needed.

Anakin/Lukes lightsaber has meaning for what it is - Abrams talked about how its similar to Mythology, finding the magic or family sword (like King Arthur). Thats what it represents in the ST, it being lost and then found adds to this mythology. It leading Rey into this world of Jedi adds to it. Kylo wanting and feeling he is entitled to it (I don't we'll see that story thread dropped) adds to that as well.

And from a practical view point - 1) We don't really see that Rey is some expert with her staff or something (think Maul - he was an expert). She hits a couple people but they didn't seem like highly trained enemies in their own right. And who would be there to teach her more of that way of fighting? 2) The handles of two lightsabers that connect would have to be long - its one of those things that sounds good but ultimately isn't very practical - it looks good when the swords are twirling but thats about it. Ray Park talked about having to really change how his lightsaber worked for reasons like this.

 

A question i hope never gets asked...

"RJ, why didn't u make Rey a daughter of Luke?"

With an answer i never want.....

"I found the story to be much more interesting if Luke killed Rey's family."

 

RJ will handle it well.

I have a couple of things I'd like to say.

1. Where does Rey get her Jedi training outfit from? Would Luke in all his years in isolation just happen to have an outfit ideally suited to a beautiful 20-year old woman?
2. In this movie, I hope Rey doesn't pull one of Luke's tricks from Empire where they think they're perfectly ready to deal with a troubling situation and end up getting their lightsabres handed to them, so to speak. When Rey ventures off to Crait in the Falcon, I would it to be that Luke believes she is ready, not she thinks she's ready.

 

Maybe the caretakers have an Ahch-To thrift store and make clothes.

 

Luke committing suicide?

 

1. It was Ben's. The nuns modified it 4 Rey!

2. She's gonna make the same mistake her dad (hopefully) did.

 

I'm going to say this right now. In my opinion, the moment Rey appears in her Jedi training outfit will be when the movie (and REY!!) will really get good.
