That's true. But Maz also hints to Rey that the belonging she seeks is ahead of her and implies that this is with Luke.
Maz realises that Rey has this great power and it is her destiny to find Luke and train as a Jedi. I think Rey realises this too.
So she goes to Luke to find out who she is - I don't mean that in the sense of finding her parents but in discovering why she is so powerful and what her actual destiny is. She needs Luke to help her find that out for her own sake.

This also links in to why she went to bring Luke home - again, Maz saw the importance in Rey going (and likely told Leia in a deleted scene).
It's a "kill two birds with one stone" kinda thing.

In the PT, the main character turns to the Darkside. He is a Skywalker
In the OT, the main character turns to the Lightside. He is a Skywalker
In the ST, the main character turns to "neither" and is not a Skywalker? I honestly can see this happening.

Rey at Hollywood.

 

I see a couple of things wrong with this. Firstly, it's been established that there is a rhyming pattern with each trilogy and what I've noticed is that in the first two trilogies, two of the main characters hook up which results in children that will be important to the next trilogy. Luke didn't hook up with anyone, Han and Leia did and I can't see how they would only have one child who turns evil. There needs to be another. Plus, if neither his uncle or a parent could get through to Ben, what chance would either a cousin or a random character have? Ben has compassion for Rey, as to why could be explained soon.

 

There's lots of different angles and patterns you could discern that may or may not pan out. For example

Obi Wan takes on a student that turns evil. Obi Wan takes on one last student to confront his old student. These students happen to be related.
Luke takes on a student that turns evil. Luke takes on one last student to confront his old student. Perhaps they happen to be related too?

You never know. A lot of different directions things could go. I'm just making observations based on speculation.

This is the one that really catches my attention, perhaps considering that they didn’t speak in TFA?

It’s likely to be a BTS still more than a shot from the actual film, and I’m not normally a proponent for shipping anyone, especially when it comes to the ST, but instantly brought the not-so-subtle hints that Rey and Poe could have been/yet become (somehow) an “item” from the TFA novelisation to mind:

Cheers and spontaneous embraces filled the room with so much joy that no one paid attention to who was hugging what representative of whichever species. Rey and Poe were not excluded, though their sudden, tight clinch of shared excitement led to a moment of mutual awkwardness.

“Uh, hi,” the pilot mumbled. “I’m Poe.”

She nodded slowly, searching his face and finding that she liked it.

“I recognise the name. So you’re Poe. Poe Dameron, the X-Wing Pilot. I’m Rey.”

“I know.” He smiled back, a little more at ease. “Nice to meet you”.

 

Am not really into romance so who knows. Rey is more than a last name and I hope she is more than just a love story. Am looking forward to learning about the force more than anything. I guess am 100% in the minority in probably wanting top learn more about Rey on this forum. Which does kind of hurt but am really not bothered about much else. I'll probably get burned by that statement.

 

Daisy on that red set is clearly Snoke's throne room but what's that circular "window" behind her? Also, I can't wait to see how she gets her new hairstyle. Probably after her swim?

There is one thing about Rey that I'm interested in seeing (probably more than anything else) is the sequence of events by which she comes to confront Snoke. Like why does she do that? Does she do it on purpose? Is she tricked? The scene that we see... is she being tortured -OR- is she summoning a Tsunami of Force Power to hurl at Snoke?
