SPECULATION Official Rey's Parents/Family Thread

Rando Calrissian? Lando's twin brother
"Rey... There. Is. Another..... Calrissian."

 

He is a soldier.....

 

What makes this the reality? This is just as much speculation as anything else. I can easily make a strong argument that Han is her father. This would be like saying "Well at least we know Darth Vader isn't Luke's father - Obi-Wan told us so."

Not really.

The movie did not acknowledge Han and Leia had a daughter. Is it more likely that after 15 years of not seeing their daughter they continued to hide their relationship with her or is it more likely that she is not their child? Rey builds strong relationships with these characters. Rey even thinks Han was like a father to her. But there is zero evidence the two are related. Why? Because they are not related.

 

Star Wars (1977) did not acknowledge the family. It said nothing about Leia being Vader's daughter, or that Luke was her brother. And she spent a lot of time with those two in the first movie. Luke was told his father was killed off by the villain. All the while, another prominent character (Obi-Wan Kenobi), knew the truth and withheld all these things from the other characters.

What @AFN said. It's highly likely that she's a Skywalker and probably Luke's daughter, given what we know from the movie and novel and so forth. But Luke didn't find out that Vader is his father until the end of ESB, not to mention he and Leia didn't figure out that they were siblings until ROTJ. There is prior precedence for a child being hidden away, and it's possible that Rey is a Solo. Although Han and Leia don't talk about any children other than Ben, they don't explicitly say they don't have another child.

I'm not saying you're wrong, @odmichael, but Star Wars is a world of weird and convoluted family associations. Don't rule anything out!

It's a fair argument to say not to rule anything out! However, much of the speculation I have read on this topic as of late has really bugged and I felt this was necessary and regards discussion. Some things for example, General Hux being Rey's father, should not even be in discussion and I've noticed an increase in these types of threads lately. It's more significant to remove people from the discussion of who Rey's parents are than to add them into the discussion.

As far as Han and Leia, again, they would know if Rey was their child. It COULD be explained that they do know and are just keeping it a secret for another movie. But Episode VII would suggest otherwise.

I believe that Rey's father can only be Luke or someone we have not met yet (a rando / random person). I do not think that any known characters, besides Luke, can be Rey's father based on what was seen in TFA.

That is not necessarily the case. I think Han and Leia is still a possibility. Both seemed to have a soft spot for her. Han definitely know who she was. With mind reading a featured power its possible that Han and Leia are figuring if she never knows who she is the secret can't be used against her. If only Han and Leia know then she is safe from those that would come after them through her. She might have been even had a foster family that hid her away. Also the Han and Leia theme blasts pretty hard core while Rey and Leia are hugging it out.
