Trailer Observation:

I believe the Death Star dish with the Class I: Star Destroyers in the final scene of the Rogue One trailer, will be the last shot of the film.
Rather than simply showing the Blockade Runner or eluding to Leia leaving on mission on Yavin, I think that that is the way they are going.
Doing it that way will make the DEATH STAR seem more powerful when we see it in ANH.

Just my thoughts!

I really hope they end it with the plans being handed off to a young Princess Leia, preferably portrayed by her daughter, and Leia is boarding the rebel runner with hopes of a successful mission without any Imperial interference. I am also hoping that Rogue One is Leia's codename for the underground rebels to call her, as she pretends to be on mercy missions for those in need.

While on hopes in this movie, I am also hoping to see a brief glimpse of a young scoundrel with the Falcon, hopefully in the background maybe talking to a Hutt.

 

I think that dish installation will happen more in the beginning of the movie and act as a catalyst for the actions .

 

I don't want to see too many OT main characters in this movie. It's focus should be the new characters and the rebel's experience on the ground and the front lines. Leia and Han cameos would be overkill, imho.

 

Leia could MAYBE work if it's at the very end of the movie (you could get Billie Lourd dressed up like her mom circa 1977 if it's just a brief cameo) to set up for the beginning of ANH. Han, nah he doesn't need to be here.

That beach battle looks potentially really cool, and given Gareth Edward's background in creature features, I wouldn't be surprised if we see the AT-AT's emerging from out of the ocean and heading towards the beach in a really awesome way. Also the rebel fighters zig-zagging/running in different directions to try and avoid the walker's fire is a pretty smart tactic actually.

 

We already know what happens in Episode IV....so Rogue One will offer little in the way of surprises.

To compound matters further, the trailer seemed a little on the boring side; perhaps the actual film will prove to be more exciting?

 

I don't think we will see Leia but I think she will be referenced. We know from ANH that the plans were transmitted to the Tantive. I could see the movie ending with a generic Rebel sitting at a computer terminal in the Tantive saying "Princess, the transmission is complete and we have the plans" or something to that effect.

 

It's a great teaser.

It hits my marketing requirements to the audience of "explain it to them like they're 5" and "explain it to them like they don't already care."

 

Welcome to the cantina, as for the trailer being boring I don't believe that it was, there was a lot revealed, what were you expecting another lightsaber duel, a appearance of Vader, a space battle, who knows, anyway this film is going to exciting I know hype for Batman vs Superman was going strong until 24 hrs after move night it didn't deliver, I believe will live up to it, anyway this only the first trailer we still have 8 months & 4 days to go plenty time for another one to probably change your opinion.

 

We don't know what ultimately happens to THESE characters, which is what I really care about right now.

I think these characters will stay within the storyline. I dont think they will pan into the films. Just like they wouldnt put as much characters from the OT. Even if Vader is in R1 he would be the most powerful presence in the film. I can see him and the emperor make a brief appearance. would like to see the royal guards kick some ass. I think its possible that they encounter the emperor and get sidetrack to killing him but fall in the hands of the Royal Guards for a good fight scene.

 

Sort of like that hitler movie with Tom a cruise that was directed by Bryan Singer ?

 

I love the look of Rogue One. I think this will appeal to quite a broad range of people. For example; one of my good friends loves action films like the Bourne Series, Bond, Saving Private Ryan etc, and he prefers the look of this film more than TFA.

If this first Anthology goes well, I think we'll be seeing more Anthologies than just 3. To me, R1 adds more depth to the Star Wars universe - especially now with the 'Canon-Wipe'. There's so many stories to tell now.

 

There's a big lack of aliens in the trailer IMHO.

 

I would not mind having a glimpse of Princess Leia - obviously not the same Carrie Fisher - but someone who looks like her, that we don't see her face but she's walking towards the Tantive with her white hood over her hair donning that buns hairstyle, and in the background we see Artoo and Threepio, while the camera spans towards Bail Organa - come on, they included Mon Mothma, I guess Jimmi Smits can make a totally credible cameo here! - saying farewell to his adoptive daughter. It would be more poignant since we know what happens next.

I don't know if Billie Lourd would fit here since she's taller than her mother but just for a cameo I think it might work.

Exactly! It happened something similar to me with the Rebels characters, I know they were not originally in the OT, but now I keep wondering what will be of them in the end...

 

Empire doesn't take kindly on them...

Simple a CGI mo-cap edit for Carrie Fisher.... Take a clip of young Fisher from ep4 and cgi/mo-cap edit it onto older fisher...

 

True.

 

The only biggest expense would be to attempt to de-age her voice.
