Death Squad Troopers rumored to be under Vader's command...
    --- Double Post Merged, Apr 24, 2016, Original Post Date: Apr 24, 2016 ---
I don't hear it... Just the cross between the imperial march and "The Force/Throne Room" themes, and a choir of voices tying them up...

Those death squad remind too much of the kryptonians in Man of Steel off course they are at Vader's disposal he can't always depend on those stormtroopers all the time.

I can see these guys being like the Ringwraiths were in "The Fellowship of the Rings." A constant, harassing threat that gets swept aside so that a singular, overwhelming threat can take the stage.

Went and saw "Captain America: Civil War" today and the first trailer shown was for "Rogue One". Looked great on the big screen.

People harping on this also need to come to terms with the fact that at some point the first Jedi came to be and would have learned his/her powers on their own. Han thought it was a hokey religion, but we know know it was a genetic condition. Rey simply has the gene and at some point she was going to realize she had special capabilities that others didn't. We simply were able to observe it, which kind of closes a plot hole in the other trilogies. She would have certainly been more clumsy about it had she not not been shown a bit about it by Kylo. She fought his mind control just as Poe did, as any person would. She just realized she was actually successful at it.

I have to voice my concerns about this trailer, and no I have not read the 23 pages before this one, so forgive me if this has been covered.

I am very turned off by the beginning of this trailer. It is way too much of a cliche in stupid action movies these days. "You are a loner who doesn't play by the rules. You are undisciplined, unproven and untrustworthy, and we really don't know you at all. Therefore, we want to trust you to lead our most important mission ever, leading a bunch of highly trained, skilled and loyal people that you have never met and never worked with before!" There is way too much attitude on display here, something that always annoys me in cliche, formula driven action movies. The blind guy beating up a bunch of trained, armed stormtroopers (i.e., cops, military, authority figures, etc.) with a stick is also an overblown cliche.

Parts of the trailer seem really cool, but the heavy reliance on stupid action movie cliches has me worried that this movie will have no more depth or originality than a Transformers #17 movie. I held off posting these thoughts for a while after the trailer was released, hoping that it was just an initial reaction that I would get over, but I just watched the trailer again and the feeling is still there.

I completely understand your concerns. Those same ones are still in the back of my mind. I got a little bit of a Hunger Games vibe...and I don't like that.
