Who's talking about that?

 

Sorry, I am referring to a few comments I've seen in other message boards. I don't think anyone has specifically said they didn't like her acting in The Cantina...but I'm sure some will pop up.

 

My first impressions (from a private discussion):

Wow, well Blast. I wasn't even aware it was coming.
It didn't get me all riled up like the teasers and trailers for The Force Awakens did, because I don't think it's wise to screw with decades of perception on how the Star Wars galaxy was just prior to A New Hope, but I will say this: I love female leads in Star Wars. Both Rey and now this Jen (?) seem like great additions to the story, and I always enjoy watching women anyway :-D

But while I don't particularly care for stuff like putting AT-ATs earlier in the timeline - they should be thewhatthefuckisthat surprise in Empire - or for seeing all kinds of weird-troopers that I just can't feel "belong" to my pure Star Wars - I *am* enjoying the lines of dialogue I'm hearing, and I do suspect the acting in this ensemble film will be great (the AT ATs by the by didn't look very convincing at this point).

I'll prolly end up thinking of Rogue One as a non-canonical story (unless they really get me immersed with the film), but it feels like it's going to be an entertaining one.

And "This is a rebellion, isn't it?"/"I rebel" is a classic already IMO. And who is kneeling before that light-thingy flanked by two royal guards? Is it Vader? The Emperor?

 

I'm really excited my biggest question is who is the dark hooded figure it's most likely going to be an inquisitor but I think it would be cool if that was Starkiller.

 

They have already appeared in Star Wars Rebels Season 2 in the episode "A Princess in Lothal".

Someone said you could hear Vader's breathing in that scene but not sure.

 

Yeah, thought the same... but then I remember how much older Luke looked in ANH compared to Jedi.

 

My initial reaction after watching the trailer for the first time:

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

Loved the music. Jyn Arso (Felicity Jones) looks like a good character. The way she stands to Mon Mothma - yeaaaah Mon Mothma is in da house! - is really cool. Enjoyed seeing Diego Luna in the trailer - who is he?? the Rebel contact, an Imperial renegade? Rebel tactical advisor? - but guess we'll find later.

Definitely liked how the took care into the details - the ships, the troopers, the gritty look - someone we definitely missed in the PT. I'm not a prequels hater, but that was one detrimental element: having ships that looked faster and newer than the A-wings and such.

Wondering how is the black hooded figure kneeling. Someone said on Twitter you could hear Vader's breathing there.

And at the end when Jyn is standing dressed as a black trooper, you could hear a brief bit of Vader's breathing.

I am really excited about this movie!!

 

Ok, so that was a very good trailer. I am not sure who is doing these trailers for Star Wars and Marvel at Disney, but they should get a raise. I am going to go see and usually like any Star Wars, but now I want to see it. I hope to see the Wars in Star Wars. It would be very cool to see a Saving Private Ryan type movie, not as bloody, about the battles. The Twilight company book was really good. I like the idea of finding out how the Rebels found out about the Death Star. I cannot wait now.

 

I've been convinced for a while now, that we will get something about Snoke's origin in this movie, I think it may be him and indeed Snoke could well be Galen Marek/Starkiller.

 

Yes!! Mon Mothma FTW!!! I gotta say, I was already super hyped for this movie, but wasn't expecting to get chills from the trailer. That scene of the assembly of the Death Star, wow. Also, the aesthetic of the star destroyers, the lighting of the shot was in line with the visuals of ANH.

That last shot of Jyn in imperial armor, did she just come out of being undercover or is the comment from Forrest Whitaker implying that she might betray the Rebellion?

 

I liked it. the music, the tone, the death star assembly scene, the grand admiral, the classic stromtroopers, mon mothma. I can't wait to see the movie. Only thing that i didn't like was a in my opninion not really great (not saying it was bad) cgi explosion and the scene with the imperial walkers looked off....maybe I need it to watch it again XD

I'm pretty sure it's wishful thinking.

 

I really liked the trailer. I like the characters in it. Disney needs not just the main trilogy to work, VII, VIII, and IX, but these films have to work. What is Star Wars without the Skywalkers and this really starts to answer this question. I like what I saw and want to see more. It was exactly what I wanted out of this trailer.

 

I'm not the only one who thinks that. But as Supreme Leader Snoke said: "We shall see".

 

I remember reading comments re Ridley's acting following TFA trailer as well, as it turned out, she was outstanding. That's obviously not to say the same will happen here but I think Jones will do a great job.

 

Exactly! One of the things I have enjoyed from watching Rebels and from what I see for this movie is that it shows us that the Rebellion was something huge - as Tagge discussed back in ANH - and we should not expect to have the plots to be oscillating around the big characters. Of course they have influenced the outcome of the events, sure, but we do want to see what was happening in the rest of the galaxy while Luke was chasing womp rats and picking up power converters, Leia playing her double part as Senator/Rebel and Han Solo dropping his cargo to avoid being boarded by the Empire.

 

I made a comment earlier regarding Jones and as it currently stands I am not sold on her acting or the character itself. The trailer had some really good shots and the music was nicely woven together however and I will the movie a good faith chance.

 

That trailer was exciting! Not like watching the TFA trailers, but still... Anyway, I'm looking forward to R1 now, whereas before I was mildly interested.
