I guess he actually does lift a finger, but I'm guessing we are going to learn he's something of a Force charlatan. I wouldn't be surprised if Kylo Ren puts a lightsaber through him and that's the big TLJ twist.

Too easy a death, I hope he uses the force with that finger move,

Rian Johson: "We got the whole story of Palpatine's rise to power in the prequels, but in the original films he's exactly what he needs to be, which is just 'the Emperor'. He's a dark force: the scary thing behind the thing. That was entirely how I approached Snoke. I wasn't interested in explaining where he came from or telling his history, except where it serves this story." (Empire magazine October 2017)

I wonder if we get some of that tale in the Battlefront 2 story. We know that Iden spans the gaps from ANH to the attack on Starkiller. She was around for it.

I've been doing some thinking about Snoke, and something about his Black Series figure including the throne conspicuously caught my eye. This could be a long shot, but we're still three months out, so I don't mind sounding like an absolute fool :p

The general shape of it, with the consistent use of angular lines and trapeziums, specifically in the form of a throne...seems awfully familiar.

So, first things first, it's certainly not The Emperor's:

But then I realised: this trapezium/pyramid-like throughline is used mainly for one era throughout Star Wars canon, and that's specifically anything ancient and to do with the Force. For instance, we have:

    Great Temple of Yavin IV
    [IMG]

    Vader's Castle on Mustafar
    [IMG]

Temple of the Kyber on Jedha
    [IMG]

    The Sith Temple on Malachor
    [IMG]

And so on and so on, I'm sure there are many that I've missed but the point is that these are all designs clearly based on McQuarrie's concept work of Yavin's Great Temple. And then I realised where I'd seen a near-identical throne.

This is McQuarrie's artwork depicting the throne room in The Emperor's lava lair:

A closer inspection of the throne reveals that yes, it is nearly identical to Snoke's throne. But what's my point? Surely I wouldn't just go on for ages to simply confirm that an old but great McQuarrie design was repurposed, right?

Right. Well, this is where I go intensely speculation heavy for the first time in a long while, so I might be a bit rusty, but here goes.

McQuarrie's original concept art depicts an underground lava lair for The Emperor. Now, as we know from Doug Chiang's interviews with StarWars.com, Vader's Castle, interestingly enough, was built on the foundation of an ancient - very likely Jedi or Sith - structure.

It was also revealed that Vader meditated at said lava lake under his Castle, which can be seen as a tuning fork of sorts for the Dark Side.

In the Aftermath novels, it is revealed that Palpatine senses a great and powerful source of Dark Side energy out in, or even beyond, the Unknown Regions, and many have taken this as him sensing Snoke. In the novels, it is implied that only Palpatine can sense this, but what if Vader also sensed Snoke's presence through his meditations on Mustafar surrounded by the Dark Side energy surrounding him? We know that Palpatine required satellite surveillance equipment to search for answers off on Jakku, but what if the tuning fork that is Vader's Castle amplifies the Dark Side of the Force, or even just the Force in general, in ways similar to planets such as Dagobah and Korriban/Moraband?

Of course, then you might ask why Snoke would also reach out to Vader, but what I want to suggest is that Snoke is a returning entity to the known galaxy, hence the similarities in design between his throne and ancient landmarks throughout the galaxy. What if he was seeking the Chosen One? Others have suggested it before, but what if he was indeed the ruler of the ancient Sith Empire, if not even potentially a founding member of the Sith? And, strangely, what if the ancient structure Vader's Castle was founded on was actually a remnant of Snoke's previous stint in the known galaxy? Why he'd leave I'm not too sure, but there are plenty of potential reasons: amassing an army? A plot to destroy him perhaps?

This got very long-winded, but basically, my point is: I think something's up with Snoke's throne.

Andy Serkis: “I know enough to play the character [of Snoke]. There is a mystery to the character and it’s coming up soon. I know who he is, where he comes from, what he represents. That will be soon be out the bag and unfold itself.” (September 21, 2017)

Finally definitive proof he's not Darth Plagueis! Sidious had his former master's ashes in an urn in his office. Serkis makes it clear that Snoke is "out of the bag."

However, the novelizations of ANH and ROTJ explained Palpatine's rise to power and the original trilogy films weren't sequels to anything and therefore there was no need to explain where Palpatine was during prior events. For all we knew, Palpatine and Yoda were co-presidents of the Jedi Order until Palpatine resigned from the Jedi to begin a political career.

Andy Serkis: "I actually shot a lot of what I was doing in Star Wars the few weeks leading up to me directing Breathe, so there was one rehearsal period where I literally came off set from Star Wars and had to cross through my trailer back into the production office. The approach to [portraying Snoke] was very much that this is someone who’s incredibly damaged. There’s a rage and a hatred that comes out of who he is and why he is. That character was a dark one to climb inside. It’s the antithesis of making something like this, which is just so life-affirming." (October 20, 2017)

This is why I "hate" Rebels... It creates too many questions about the OT and even if everyone eventually dies like in Rogue One, I still feel that the damage is done...

About DJ, he is clearly younger than Luke (as is Del Toro younger than Hamill), in Rebels Ezra is older than Luke or at least the same age...

Ezra is the same age as Luke, also, he could’ve aged better than Luke, so there’s that.
