“Ezra is his own person”. Isn’t this pretty much the same answer we get with Snoke being Plagueis? “Snoke is his own person”.

Just to play devil’s advocate - I don’t actually think Ezra is DJ - I’d consider Anakin and Vader to be their own person, and Luke in ANH and Luke in TFA/TLJ their own people, Obi-Wan and Ben their own people, etc.

    People change.

If DJ was Ezra, I wouldn’t have a problem with it (honestly, I sort of want to see a tie-in like this between the shows and the films eventually, so why not now?) personally, and I’d be fine with saying that DJ at 50-something and Ezra as a late teen would be their own people too, even if they’re both Ezra.

Notice too how RJ goes quite high-pitched and seems in a bit of a rush to answer the question. I’m sure it’s nothing and Ezra isn’t DJ, but I don’t take his word as final.

Especially considering JJ has a lot of something to do with this trilogy...

Why must every character tie in and be connected? Rian just doesn't wanna answer things really like no one does. As for JJ I wouldn't put that much stock into his remark about the Prequels. It won't be nothing big.

Are you referring to JJ lying about Khan?

But I agree at some point an overlap between the cartoons and a movie is desirable. However, I think we would notice something like this coming, as LCF "roots" their story points. I don't see it happening in TLJ though.

Do you think Snoke wants the Jedi to rise again so Kyo can finish what Vader started only to end differently? Snoke doesn't actually act like he's scared about Luke to coming back really. He just states if Skywalker returns the jedi will rise. I think he wants a different outcome. Luke had sympathy and turned his father back. Snoke probably wants Kylo to kill Luke without sympathy to prove he doesn't have such love. In other words do the opposite.

Still (urgh!) working on my Force mega-post, but during my research, I stumbled upon a few lines which might work in the favour of Plagueis still being out there, in The Clone Wars’ Season 6 Episode 13: Sacrifice.
For those who haven’t read the Aftermath trilogy, Palpatine felt that he was being called to the Unknown Regions, and that the source of the Dark Side’s power came from the Unknown Regions.

Perhaps the connection he sensed was his old master, in the same way Dooku’s relationship with Yoda allowed him to sense him on Moraband?

    Just a thought.

    oligarch
    ˈɒlɪɡɑːk/
    noun
    1. 1.
      a ruler in an oligarchy.
    2. 2.
a very rich business leader with a great deal of political influence

I’m coming back from going dark to respond to this article, just to say....PLAGUEIS!!! PLAGUEIS!!!!
Plagueis was tall, humanoid, liked wealth and opulence and wasn’t afraid to show it off. And could keep people from dying. A strong dark side force user. Hates the resistance since they are trying to keep him down and obviously hates the Republic since they destroyed what he created.

Palpatine thought he killed him, but through unnatural dark side abilities, abilities that he kept from his devious apprentice, he survived with horrific injuries, which make him extremely vulnerable despite his frightening powers.

Not only did he create Anakin, he funded the Clone wars, the creation of the Empire and now the First Order. He’s been behind everything!

    You’ll see! You’ll all see!!!!

See you all on the other side. I’m really going dark
    now!

Just read the new story on this site about Andy Serkis and Snoke. and how Snokes injuries are based on WW1 injuries from the trenches....
Thought I'd look it up to see what they were talking about, and while I can completely see what they mean, even down to a few photos of certain individuals from WW1. i'm not sure I'll ever un-see those images.

but its interesting what Serkis says about Snoke in general, as up to this point i've known nothing about him or his motivations.

    egad, his teeth!

@Maximillian i also found that article to be very interesting. i like that he has a grudge against the Republic/Resistance, and that his wounds are likened to WW1 trench fighting. i can only imagine these injuries must've happened during the Clone Wars rather than during the Imperial era, otherwise he'd be hating on the Empire more than the Resistance. unless, of course, his injuries are far newer than i assume and are a result of some military action post-RotJ.

It seems like to me from the EW article that Snoke is truly going to be the “big bad” of this trilogy. It leads me to think that at some point in the trilogy Kylo may turn on Snoke. It may not necessarily be in TLJ. I won’t be surprised at all if we see it at some point.

Star Wars is so famous for it's "small galaxy" where every main character seems to have met all of the other main characters at one point or is in one form or another connected to them. In a galaxy where the main villain Darth Vader is also the creator of the comic relief sidekick C3-PO fans are expecting every main character to tie in and be connected.

Yeah, I get what you mean, though I suppose it’s different now that GL doesn’t have the first and final word on such decisions.

Also, @Bluemilk , my comment that you responded to is totally in jest :p there’s no way that I think Ezra is Snoke, nor do I want Snoke to be such a character.

Just to play devil’s advocate...” :)

I would actually be happy if they abandoned this "small universe" concept which seems ridiculous given the sheer amount of different planets there are in the galaxy. But I guess the small unvierse is a SW trademark even beyond the GL era. In TFA the Millennium Falcon is located conveniently close to our new main character Rey. In R1 Orson Krennic is force choked by Vader and feuds with Tarkin, meanwhile Jyn bumps into the infamous Dr. Evazan,... At this point I think it's Disney's own fault that us fans constantly try to connect new characters into what we already know about the galaxy far far away. It's a running gag and even if Rian willingly tries to change the "small galaxy" formula it will take time for us fans to adapt, just like it took a while until we accepted that Kenny is no longer going to die in every South Park episode.

Krennic was the lead guy on running the program to weaponize the Death Star. He was also always trying to gain favor with the Emporer. It is only part of the natural story and makes sense that he would have dealings with both Tarkin and Vader. Now June running into Evazan is shrinking the galaxy and poor fan service.

They could have left Vader out of the story completely and use some random imperial Moff instead of Tarkin if they had wanted to avoid the small galaxy syndrome. In Vader's case I am happy about having him in the movie because of his awesome action scene. Still he adds nothing to the story itself. I could cut out all the Vader scenes and someone who hasn't seen R1 wouldn't even notice. Tarkin, though somewhat successfully brought to life with elaborate effects, could have been replaced by some random Moff. Getting to know one of Tarkin's colleagues would have made the galaxy bigger instead of smaller. There's just no reason to have teh Grandmoff appear in R1 other than showing audiences a familiar face.
