The article you've posted is based on MSW report I've posted a couple of days ago.

 

As near as I can tell is everyone knew Snoke no longer had a Snake head but there was still a place for slimy pallid reptile skin or other alien reptile features. They just never formally removed reptilian from the speculation.

What I am not seeing is anything that justifies a puppet. That was heard from sources all over.

The fact that he has a digitally sculpted face doesn't mean that the rest of the body isn't a puppet. Even at its best, puppetry cannot emulate facial expressions to an extent that motion capture can. Look at Unkar Plutt. It was primarily a costume but because it provided the actor with very limited facial movement, his expressions were essentially added in postproduction. The same could have happened with Snoke.

 

No I get ya. But then why not just have an actor on set and put the wounded face in through cgi. Reports are he is 7 feet but knowing that the face will involve cgi what need is there for a puppet at all.

Snoke isn't human and he isn't a repeat character. He's entirely new to the series. I think pablo said it best: "Let new characters be new characters"

 

yeah i fully agree although someone did say once to me that snoke could be gallius rax, and i think that was a rumor on here for a while maybe since gallius rax ahsnt been seen on screen yet but i still believe that snoke is entirely new

Empires End confirmed Rax isn't snoke. I'm not going to spoil the book, but it's pretty definitive.

The poor bloke has had to debunk this garbage for two years now. I hope he's paid well.

Though I wondered if they were having seconds thoughts. What troubles me about the design is that it appears 99% human. When if they really wanted to go different the could have come up with a great design but it appears (I hope to be wrong) we are getting a rather bland tall burn victim from a slightly taller than human species. That otherwise looks very similar.

 

Sadly, he will have to debunk them for several more because some will not accept that Snoke is new character we haven't seen.

 

I don't understand why people think Snoke is an old character. There is literally NOTHING to support it....

 

I think it's best to view this trilogy with fresh eyes. Try not to compare it to the last 6. They seem to be attempting to break away from everyone being related or connected to other characters in previous movies (except for Ben), so Snoke being new with a backstory that I am sure will be interesting will be a nice change.

I totally agree. Some see what they want to see and pick what fits their ideas.

 

I just don't know where the whole idea is coming from. I mean, NOTHING in the film indicates that he's someone else. Sure, he's mysterious, but that doesn't mean he's another character. Honestly, I really don't even think Lucasfilm intended on Snoke being this super secret character that they won't disclose anything about (even more than the other characters), but because so many delusional people insisted he was someone else, they decided to just run with it. He's not going to end up being anyone. He's Snoke. That's it. Besides, with Kylo Ren already confirmed to be Han and Leia's son and Rey presumably Luke's daughter (or someone else's daughter—regardless, she's probably related to someone from the past), it would be a bit overkill for them to resurrect another old character, in addition to the returning characters (Luke, Leia, Chewie, the droids, etc.) and their offspring. The galaxy is SO much bigger than that and while the focus is on one family specifically, there comes a point where they have to stop making everyone connect to someone else and just let these characters be independent of previously established ones. I'm glad someone agrees with me on this!

 

I think it's a shame to distance from the previous GL movies...though, as i have mentioned in the past, disney seems to be creating their own "Star wars" to avoid any sort of prequel backlash or whatver...they SHOULD be CONNECTING to everything to make things more cohesive but i get it, i just hope snoke is compelling enough.

 

Agreed. Definitely feels like a soft reboot the more we know about this universe. We'll see how it's judged retrospectively in 20 years. The story group definitely seems to be striving to make their own mark in the GFFA, and it's unclear if that's in spite of the need to tell a compelling story or because of it. It's not possible to know at this stage if the ego of Pablo and company is driving this apparent burning need to make everything new and fresh and barely reference/connect to the PT and OT, or if they truly believe it's a necessity for the sake of story. So far, it seems like the former rather than the latter.

 

You can turn notifications off on twitter and early on he playfully teased and gave smart assed door left open answers to people's speculation which led to him becoming popular on forums etc. among fans and more people began asking things. It's his own doing. Do people ask stupid questions? For sure but the root of the problem he created himself.
