"Here we go again LR is talking about the Old Republic".

    You better believe it!
Honestly hear me out friends. So after Ep IX we have a massive hole in the movie saga, a massive hole of opportunity! I purpose
Star Wars: The Old Republic Ep I (pattern pending)
"Why would this even be interesting LR?" , I hear you ask.
Because in the EU the Jedi and Sith wars brought some of the most amazing story telling to the Star Wars universe. A character purely on paper could win peoples love and hate, because it was built on the foundations we love, LOTS OF SABERS AND BATTLES. It sounds crazy, but during the golden time of the Jedi and Sith, their wars created so much lore and depth to the universe! Banes rule of two, the pure idea of force ghosts and the depth of the holocrons. These movies could be visual master pieces, I mean I will outlay some of my stand out favs! (Apart from Revan)

This doesn't even touch on Revan, Exar Kun, Bastila Shan and the troves of amazing characters!

Could this not be an amazing movie series?

Yes, this could be an amazing movie series and I'm confident this will happen some day (movie or series). But it will never be like the video games but something completely new and original. New lore, characters and locations. Maybe you will get some easter eggs or references to the old EU, but that's it.

Hell yeah! I would be down for that too. Just as long as it really goes deep on that past knowledge and lore. Don't want something as wide as the pacific but not deep enough to drown in haha.

    I'm down for this.

I personally have seen KOTOR 1/2 influence in the ST already, so I would love for a movie set in this time period.

I would love to see some old republic movies. If some of the old republic stuff became canon that would be great. Plus getting whole films, maybe even trilogies with it could be great

If they go about doing this, I could see it as:

    Episode I: KOTOR

    Episode II: TSL

    Episode III: TOR

It did influence the sequels quite a bit. I does feel quite KOTOR'ish at times. Kylo Ren, the Knights of Ren, Rey, Luke on his Island, Finn, Poe.........it all feels tremendously old republic like.

    2 cents Old Republic movies:
    1. I wonder if they'll actually take the time to differentiate the technology. KotOR was thousands of years before the movies and I saw absoloutely no difference in technological capabilities. I tell myself that tech stagnates, or there's only so far you can go, but I can tell that's not true, because technology does change between each trilogy of movies; such as hyperdrives going from external to internal, the size of ships increasing, the Death Star, Starkiller base, Tie Fighters getting life support, torpedoes and hyperdrives, the invention of B Wings, etc. etc. That said, I'm not sure what kind of technological differences would work without totally alienating it from the source material. Maybe make Droids be something new and novel? Hyperspace travel is a must, but maybe make huge capital ships something unheard of until a big war starts. I don't know.

    2. Just an inventory of what we actually have on this Time Period in canon.
-There was an "Old Republic" before the Republic seen in the Prequels, which is on the record as being about 1000 years old. This means Maz Kanata saw the fall of the Old and the rise of the Republic we know. The fall of the Sith and the Rise of Darth Bane and his Rule of Two is set to about this point.
-Apparently this Old Republic was rivaled at one point by the Zygerrian Slaver Empire, which was referenced in Clone Wars (as was this Old Republic). Jedi and the Republic won that particular fight.
-There was a point where the Sith Ruled the Galaxy (as Palpatine said that "Once more the Sith will Rule the Galaxy in ROTS). They also set up shop on Coruscant and had a Shrine there. The Jedi built their temple over said shrine in order to keep a cap on all that Darkness when they liberated Coruscant.
-The Sith also had Temples in various places such as their Home/tomb world Moraband (Lucas decided to rename Korriban) and on Malachor (yay for a reference to KotOR II).
-There was a Mandalorian Jedi, one Tarre Viszla. When the Old Republic fell, the a Mandalorian of the Viszla clan stole his Darksaber from the Jedi Temple.
-There was a War between the Jedi and the Mandalorians. The Jedi won. Also around this time, Mandalore was pretty well devastated.
-Not entirely canon, as these episodes never aired, but unfiinished episodes of Clone Wars would have established that the Laws of Warfare would be enumerated in the "Yavin Code" from the "Yavin Convention" sometime around 1000 years before the movies.
-the Massassi built their temples 5000 years ago.
    - Jedi Crusaders were indeed a thing.
    I leave anything out?
